When your trailer carries serious weight, you need hardware that won’t flex or loosen under pressure. This kit uses (4) 1/2"-20 steel U-bolts that clamp your 3" round axle tight to the leaf springs. Each bolt is 7" long, giving enough thread for a secure fit on typical 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb axles. The solid connection keeps your suspension stable and your load steady mile after mile.
Matching parts by eye can lead to headaches later. This kit includes (2) U-bolt plates sized for 1-3/4" wide springs, so everything lines up cleanly. The geometry between the axle and spring is locked in, keeping the setup aligned and the ride controlled over bumps and uneven road surfaces.
No need to track down extra hardware. The kit comes complete with (4) 7" long U-bolts, (2) U-bolt plates, and (8) 1/2"-20 hex nuts. That means you can bolt the axle to the springs right out of the box without hunting for compatible parts. It’s a straightforward, ready-to-install setup that makes suspension work simple and solid.
A proper clamp load keeps your axle tight and your suspension quiet. These 1/2"-20 U-bolts are designed to be torqued between 45 ft-lbs and 70 ft-lbs, with 70 ft-lbs being the standard setting for a firm, lasting hold. When tightened to spec, the connection stays put through vibration, rough pavement, and long-haul use.

Hi, everybody, Andy here with etrailer.com. Let's take a look together at this Dexter U-Bolt Kit for mounting 5,200 to 7,000-pound round trailer axles. Now this kit is designed to fit axle diameters of three inches, which is going to be your typical 5,200 to 7,000-pound axles. And this kit includes everything that you see here on my table before me. You're going to receive four seven-inch long U-bolts and then two U-bolt plates for 1 3/4-inch or two-inch springs, and then eight 1/2 inch by 20 nuts. And the spring seats.
Spring seats are required for mounting the axle to the leaf springs, and those are gonna be sold separately from this kit. Now, if we measure from the inside of the U-bolt to the bottom of the bolt post, that's gonna give us our seven-inch measurement. And these are tapered where the axle sits to help the U-bolt stay in place on your axle. And the area between the bolt post measure three inches. So that's where we are...
That's where we get the spring width fitting from. And then the diameter of each one of these bolts measure half an inch. And of course, the plates that are included are designed to fit these U-bolts. Well, that's gonna wrap up our look today. I do hope that it was helpful for you.

Bolts fit axles fine but the plates were for a smaller spring width so had to re use the old plates

I didn't realize the kit was only for one side. My entire order was for both sides. It would have been nice if somebody would have caught that and suggested another kit. I admit is was my bad though. Overnighted a generic set off Amazon, complete mistake, they stripped out at 70 ft.lbs.
The u-bolts fit and worked perfectly. I didn’t use the included tie plates, my travel trailer has shock absorbers that attach to the tie plates, I reused the originals. I torqued them to 70 ft. lbs. per Dexter axle specifications. I did clean and paint them before installing. I upgraded my 5400 lb. 4-leaf springs to 6000 lb. 5-leaf springs, which required longer u-bolts.
Ordered these springs and hardware to replace a sagging set on my dump trailer. Worked perfectly.
Excellent product, I used it to beef up the suspension on my welding trailer. It has proven to be a great quality product. Even though local stores carry this kit, I trust a company with the word trailer in its name, and for good reason. I recommend your website to all of my welding students, so if you're ever in the mood to send parts for me to install, test, and review. Please keep me in mind. I'm currently searching for a good 10" electric brake assembly to replace my existing set, and I'm sure I will be reaching out to etrailer for their expertise.
The plates that came u- bolts were narrower then the leaf springs by 1/4 inch. So I had to reuse old plates
These seem to be working ok but do not appear to be designed for use with the HD upgraded Moryde greaseable shackle kit that I purchased with them . You can see in the photos that they rub and bind

I do have two recommendations for you. The first would be to make sure that the bolts are not over tightened. The locknuts should only be tight enough to limit as much movement as possible without binding anything up. The second recommendation is that Lippert makes that can be used with the Equa-Flex system. It is part # LC64FR. The shackle straps are less thick at 0.212 thickness however they are longer at 3 and one quarter inches.
I'm changing my leaf springs out on my 2016 Keystone Cougar 5th wheel. Be sure to order the right size springs, I thought I did but when originally measuring the length, I didn't take the trailer weight off the old springs and ordered wrong. Realized what i did and try to stop shipment,but etrailer is fast. They took care of me and paid for return shipping and got me the right size leaf springs. Thank you Adam for fixing me up.PS if you have those yellow flat washers at the front of your first axle and the back of your 2nd axle where your leafspring starts and ends,be sure and order longer wet bolts, the standard wetbolt will be 1/2 inch short.
Easy install on fifth wheel. These were slightly longer than the OEM and required a deep socket.
Quick delivery and exactly what I needed to replaced the springs on my 2018 Keystone Montana RV.
This kit did the trick when replacing my leaf springs & all new mounting hardware. I kit per axle.
Bottom plate is too narrow for leaf springs. Had to reuse the existing bottom plate

You use UPS for delivery they give you a delivery window and then they change it. There was a no east to come in this weekend and they did deliver my order till 6:40 PM. The original window was 12 to 4 and then they changed it to 3 to 7 normally I don’t care but this delivery mat so I was pretty unhappy

Worked perfectly. I have a Bullet ultra light 22 BPR and needed to change out the mono leaf suspension spring. Since they are 30" springs I didn't have many options and was able to find 4 multi leaf springs from trailer. The original U-bolts were to short so I purchased these. They worked perfectly and had plenty of length to accommodate the new multi leaf spring I put in. When I took the original springs off the mounting holes in the equalizers and all the shackles were bad so I also added the MORryde equalizer and MORryde suspension with wet bolts. Took about 1 1/2 hours to do each side with new springs, Equalizer and upgraded MORryde wet bolts. Camper sits about 2" higher, didn't notice a change in towing, (1600 miles) but the camper is more stable stepping in and out at the campsite. Just need to make sure to order 2 sets to accommodate a two axle suspension.
The mounting plate was the wrong size for the hole spacing of the U bolts. I reused the old ones and paired them black.
Also the two axels I had ordered had damage to the threads on both ends. Packaging is a key issue. I ok would have thought the nut and washer would have been mounted instead of sent separately.
Our representative Andy M assisted us in getting some very needed components. We ended up in a remote area of Yosemite national Park area in a town called Groveland, California. We noticed when we parked the trailer that one of the leaf springs and broken. Our first thought was the call E trailer which we did. Andy was our representative. He made sure that we ordered the correct parts by asking us to remeasure the leaf spring, which we did and managed to get the parts ordered on Saturday. And shipped by Monday we requested overnight delivery which we received the components on Tuesday at the same time our RV repair person showed up to do. The work job was completed in 3 1/2 hours. Can’t say enough about E trailers ability to assist RV’ers. Thanks again Andy for your help. Great job.
