What Leaf Springs, U-Bolt Kit, Equalizers, and Wet Bolt Kit do I Need for My Triple Axle Set-Up?

Updated 04/14/2026 | Published 04/13/2026

Question:

Hopefully you can help me. I have a triple axle 5th wheel. Without any springs can I determine what length springs I need off of the hanger spacing which is 29-1/2 from front hanger to the second hanger then 33 second hanger to the third hanger then 29-1/2 to the back hanger. I am putting on the moryde CRE3-33 equalizers. 7000 lb axles would like to use a 4000lb spring. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Hello Mike,

Thank you so much for the detailed information, most helpful!

For the leaf springs, you will want to go with (6) of the 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 7,000-lb Trailer Axles - 24-7/8" Long # e64SR. Since you have 7K axles, these are the correct match, as each spring is rated for 3,500 lbs. That pairing is exactly what you want for proper suspension performance. While it might seem like stepping up to a 4,000 lb spring would be an upgrade, it actually makes the suspension too stiff and can limit how well the equalizers do their job, so I would stick with the 3,500 lb springs.

I also want to give you some peace of mind on the spring length concern. With your hanger spacing of 29-1/2", 33", and 29-1/2", the 24-7/8" spring is exactly what your triple axle suspension is designed to use. This length works correctly with the CRE3-33 equalizers and will not cause binding, tire scrubbing, or added stress on the hangers. Those issues typically come from using the wrong spring length, not the correct one, so your measurements and axle rating all line up perfectly here.

You will also need U-bolt kits, so be sure to pick up (3) of the U-Bolt Kit for Mounting 5,200-lb to 7,000-lb Round Trailer Axles - 7" Long U-Bolts # APUBR-8. This will cover all three axles.

For the equalizers, the correct choice for your setup is the MORryde Shock Absorbing Suspension Equalizers for Triple Axle Trailers with 33" Wheelbase - 8K # MR59ZR. This is designed specifically for your hanger spacing and will provide a noticeable improvement in ride quality and durability.

While you are upgrading everything, I would also strongly recommend adding the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Triple Axle Trailers - 2-1/4" Long Shackle Straps # MR86ZR. This kit gives you heavier-duty shackles and wet bolts, which greatly improves longevity and overall performance of the suspension.

I have to know, what happened to all the leaf springs? Did you buy the camper used and it came without them? What kind of 5th wheel is this on, and where are you going for the first trip after you get it all put back together?

Didn't mean to mislead you. The springs are there. They are new but the guy didn't seem to confident that they were correct. So thank you for confirming they are correct. It is a Keystone Fuzion. As to where we are going somewhere where in the Colorado mountains. Thanks again for your knowledge.

@MikeO Oh got it Mike! Glad I could help clarify. One of my son's final choices to go to College is in Colorado, fingers crossed that's what he goes with, would love the excuse to get out there more. - Safe Travels =)
