Question:
Hi, I have a 2021 Grand Design Imagine 2670mk. On a recent trip, we broke a leaf spring. I was able to find a local trailer shop that had a similar size but underrated spring in stock so we could limp home. Now that we are safely home, Im looking at doing a suspension overhaul and replacing all 4 springs, as well as upgrading to a CRE-3000 and wet bolt kit. The wet bolt kit Im looking at is MORryde UO12-016, and the CRE unit is the MORryde CRE2-35 which should match the 35 in wheel spacing for the trailer. Where Im having trouble is the leaf springs. The axles are Dexter 120092 4400 axles, but I cant find any individual part s, only entire replacement units. I believe that theyre around 25.25inch but its hard to be sure as I think theyve flattened some over the years. Im also considering whether its worth upgrading to a slightly heavier weight rating. I would also need new u-bolts as I believe that youre not supposed to reuse them. Thank you!

Hey Andrew! You're on the right track with the suspension overhaul. The MORryde CRE3000 # MR27ZR and Wet Bolt Kit # MR46ZR with 2-1/4" shackle straps are the correct parts for your 2021 Grand Design Imagine 2670MK with the 35" axle spacing. I double checked this against the Grand Design parts site.
Your 4,400 lb Dexter axles typically use a 25-1/4" long, spring like the Dexter # DX95CR. We've had other 2021 Grand Design Imagine owners with 4,400 lb Dexter axles confirm the 25-1/4" spring length as well. Since yours have flattened, you can double check without removing them by measuring along the curve of the main leaf from the center of the spring eye to the center pin. You should get approximately 13-1/8".
If you want to upgrade, the 5,000 lb 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring # e44SR will also work. It has the same 25-1/4" length, and the slightly higher capacity won't be overkill for the suspension. Then for U-bolts, your axle will either have a 2-3/8" or 3" diameter tube, so you'll need to measure to be sure. For 2-3/8" axles you can use the Dexter U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-1, or for 3" axles the Dexter U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-8.
For a complete upgrade, I also recommend adding the MORryde X-Factor Crossmember # MR33WR. This adds stability and extra support between the hangers, which are really the only weak point left once you've upgraded the rest of the suspension like this.
How many miles do you typically put on the Imagine each year?

I had the same issue with my 2018 375RES and talked with Austin H at etrailer he told me what I needed and I replaced all 4 springs and the mor ride withe the cre3000 the trailer pulls just as it did when it was new, only I didn’t replace the greaseable bolt through the spring eye because it was t worn and also used the same u-bolts that came in the trailer mine has 2- 7000lb axles and have not had any issues and the trailer is more stable when pulling.

Thanks, yes I was thinking of the x-factor as well; probably worth it if I'm taking everything apart. We put around 3000 miles a year on it by my rough estimate.

I have a 2018 Columbus 298RL It has Dexter 7,000 lb axles. I purchased the MoRryde CRE3000 and the wet bolt kit and installed it myself. I recently made a trip from Washington state to Bar Harbor Maine down the Eat Coast to Savanah Georgia and back on the South coast back to Washington. I can definately tell you that the kit improved the ride immensely and quited down the spring squeak. TIPS: make sure you put the grease hole in the center of the bolts facing up. Also when removing the old bolts in the shakles they are splined turn the nut not the bolts. When installing the new bolts I used a socket that fit over the grease zerk to pound them in. One more thing I used an old bolt to install the new bushings so you don't hit them directly and deform them. I think you will like the kit good luck and happy travels.
