Hey everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. If you have an ARB base rack or if you're really interested into the ARB rack system, but you also wanna use your own favorite accessories and you know it's not compatible with this system, well, you're gonna be interested in these T-slot adapters. These allow you to use your T-track, T-channel, or T-slot mounted accessories with your ARB base racks, even though they have that dovetail system. Let's take a look at how this all works out. These are going to be lightweight metal adapters with that black powder coat finish you're gonna see on pretty much any ARB accessory. I left these on this ARB rack for about two months in the snow and they we inchesre perfectly fine there long term.

Another thing about this is that for if you wanna carry on awnings, these are not the ones to use, even if your awning is T-track mounted. Please check out the awning brackets for your ARB rack that would match you instead. And finally, your base rack has a weight capacity of 55 pounds per slot. So that will help you figure out what weight capacity these can handle just because of where you have them mounted and if you need to use them all on one slat or multiple. Your T-slot adapters are gonna arrive fully put together.

So really all you need to do is grab your own four millimeter hex wrench or Allen key. This matches a lot of your ARB accessories anyways, so hopefully you'll already have this in your toolbox. Now, we're going to loosen the bolts on our adapter, so loosen those bolts just enough where you can then fit the clamps over your dovetail system, see how it goes on there just like that. And we're gonna slide this around to where we want this or we can just heighten it down just enough where it will still slide, but it won't come off. This is available as a set of one or a set of two adapters.

But what I've found is that you usually need at least three or four of these adapters depending on what your accessory is. Most bike racks will require three adapters. Most kayak carriers will require four unless you have some style carriers where you might be able to get away with just two of these adapters. So how do you know how many you need Well, you're gonna have to take some measurements. This track is gonna be 3-7/8 of an inch long.

That will help you figure out where your T-slot bolt or hardware is going to fit. So you do have a little bit of wiggle room, but it's usually just a bit too short to use with a single accessory. So when I put up the kayak carrier, what I first did was I measured for where that hardware is going to sit, in our case seven inches apart. And that's how I figured out how far apart I needed to attach the second T-slot adapter. We measured our second T-slot adapter to the correct distance we need for our carrier. So we're going to tighten it down with our four millimeter Allen wrench. When I put the second paddleboard carrier up and then the paddleboard, I then realized that my T-track adapters were a little too close together. So the perks of this is it's very easy to move around and you can put it on any slat of your ARB rack. If you needed to attach T-track mounted accessories even to the side of the rack, you can do so as long as they fit along that dovetail side. So with the adapters, I'm still able to use my own preferred accessory, even if it's not an ARB branded one. And that's gonna be helpful for you if you have accessories already and you don't wanna invest into an ARB-specific accessory or if you have your own style that you prefer over ARB's options. So with those T-slot adapters, the main thing really is to make sure you get the number that you need for whatever you wanna carry. And just like that with our T-slot adapters, I was able to use my preferred paddleboard carrier, even if it's not an ARB branded carrier. And that's gonna be the main thing with the ARB system. They put a lot of effort into designing their rack and their accessories to be super sleek, as was super easy to attach, move around, install, and to use. But the downside to all those design choices is that it makes other accessories that are not ARB not at all compatible with the system unless you use adapters like these. So if you have your own favorite accessories, you're gonna be relying on these adapters a lot. I personally wish that these adapters we inchesre larger or came in a longer size because then I wouldn't have to get multiple adapters for most of my accessories. And that's also gonna be something you are really gonna have to measure out and figure for yourself. But hopefully this video with the instructions on how to get this installed, how large these are, as well as how to measure for your accessories, helps you out with that process.
