If your trailer’s stopping feels uneven or sluggish, the Kodiak 13" hub-and-rotor assembly gives you the control you’ve been missing. The 1-piece cast iron hub-and-rotor design keeps water and debris out—no separate hub to trap moisture—and reduces the chance of rotor runout or uneven wear. With a large 2-1/2" stainless steel piston and ceramic brake pads, these disc brakes deliver fast, consistent braking that feels smooth even under load.

Saltwater, snow, and road chemicals can destroy unprotected metal. The Dacromet finish on these hub-and-rotor assemblies, calipers, and brackets resists rust with a 300- to 400-hour salt spray rating—comparable to galvanized steel. It’s a smart choice if your trailer sees coastal weather or regularly gets wet. The stainless hardware and ductile iron brackets further extend durability when you need dependable braking in corrosive environments.

Towing heavy or driving steep grades generates serious heat. These vented rotors move air through their core to shed heat quickly and prevent premature pad wear or brake fade. The result is consistent stopping power even after long downhill runs or repeated braking—perfect for keeping control when your trailer is fully loaded.
Disc brakes already cut down on maintenance compared with drums, but this kit goes further. With no springs, magnets, or shoes to adjust, upkeep is minimal. When brake pads eventually wear down, they’re easy to access—just remove the caliper instead of tearing down the whole assembly. Each kit includes inner (25580) and outer (02475) bearings, races, oil seals, oil caps, synthetic bearing oil, wheel bolts, and lug nuts—everything needed to upgrade one axle rated at 8,000 lbs with #42 spindles.

The heavy-duty 9/16" wheel studs come preinstalled for a direct fit on an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern. If a stud ever gets damaged, it’s replaceable—so you can keep your hub in service without replacing the entire assembly. Combined with Kodiak’s precise automotive-grade construction and a 3-year warranty, this setup keeps your trailer braking reliably season after season.

Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Kodiak 13 inch hub and rotor disc brake assembly set. This is going to allow you to upgrade your trailer from drum brakes to disc brakes so that you can take advantage of the superior performance that comes along with having disc brakes on your vehicle. Or if you already have disc brakes and you're just looking for a higher quality finish this is going to have the dichromate plating on it so it is going to hold up much better than most finishes. So it is gonna be a great option for you as well. Having the two brake assemblies here is going to allow us to upgrade a single 8,000 pound capacity axle with the number 42 spindles.
Our rotors are 13 inches in diameter and they have the eight nine 16th inch diameter bolts here the eight on six and a half inch bolt pattern. So these are gonna work for your wheels that are 16 inches and larger. Having that dichromate finish on our hubs and rotors, caliper's and our caliper mountain brackets is going to offer excellent rust and corrosion resistance for us, has a salt spray rating between 300 and 400 hours so these are gonna be great for your boat trailers and trailers that are used in coastal areas or on heavily treated roads where they're gonna have a lot of contact with salt in those kind of corrosive environments. If you're looking at your good, better, best kind of scenario, I think the very best that I know of is a stainless steel construction but these dichromate finishes are going to be just slightly underneath them. So definitely a major improvement over having unfinished hub and rotors and even a little bit higher than your e coats.
So definitely a good way to go if you're gonna have your trailer in really corrosive environments like that. So then upgrading your trailer from drum breaks to disc brakes is also going to have several different benefits for you. You're gonna notice a much better performance. These do have these ceramic brake pads here that help to increase stopping power. They also have a large two and a half inch diameter stainless steel piston that provides fast, responsive braking, so you'll notice your stopping distance is going to be much shorter.
These are also going to provide smoother, more controlled braking for you. So it's gonna help keep your trailer from pushing and pulling like you're probably used to with your drum brakes. And in addition to better performance, these are also going to require minimal maintenance. So it is gonna help save you time and money over your drum brakes. Having the one piece hub and rotor assembly does reduce the chance of uneven rotor wear.
And here on the side you can see we do have the vented design that's gonna help dissipate heat faster to prevent premature brake pad wear. Now those brake pads will wear down over time and you will need to switch those out but it's a pretty straightforward process and those are really the the only components that will need to be switched out, unlike with your drum breaks and have the springs and all those other small components in it these are going to be a lot less for you to have to maintain and replace. So it is gonna help save you time and money over the long run. These are a high quality automotive grade construction so they are gonna be very long lasting for you. Now one caveat with upgrading from drum breaks to disc brakes is that disc brakes do require a higher line pressure than your drum brakes. So you are going to need to make sure you have a hydraulic brake actuator and brake lines that are rated for 1500 psi or higher to in order to properly activate these brakes. And if your trailer is already set up for drum brakes it's pretty unlikely that your system is going to be able to handle that much pressure so you will need to get some new components. It might take some billing to get that all switched over for you if you don't already have a hydraulic brake actuator and brake lines rated for that 1500 psi. We do have those available here at etrailer.com. Obviously it's not included in this set, so it's not this set isn't gonna be everything that you need, but it is going to give you the two dicchromated plated cast iron hub and rotor assemblies. It's also going to have the eight nine 16th inch pre-installed wheel bolts on each. We'll get the 16 nine 16th inch zinc plated steel lug nuts to hold your wheel in place on there. we also have our two drot plated cast ironed calibers. And on the backside here you can see we've got those two dichromate plated ductile iron caliber mounting brackets. These do have the four bolt brake flange configuration so they are gonna be very easy to get mounted on your axle. Now I do wanna point out that I have these displayed on top just for balance purposes but when you actually go to install these they are gonna be mounted on the side. That side support design puts all the weight on the mounting bracket instead of on your bolts so it helps your bolts last longer. You are going to get four of these stainless steel caliber mounting bolts. Two for each assembly. We are going to have our inner and our outer races pre-installed. We'll also get our inner and outer bearings here, make sure that these are rotating smoothly. This system is lubricated with oil so we're going to have our inner oil seals, our two oil caps and we're also going to get one eight ounce bottle of synthetic bearing oil and to make sure that everything's moving around in there without too much friction. So again, if you are wanting to upgrade from drum breaks to disc brakes, or if you already have your disc brakes and you're just wanting a higher quality finish so that your brake assemblies will last longer for you these are gonna be a great upgrade for you. That completes our look for today. Again, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.

very happy
huge improvement over drum brakes and fairly easy to install
Delivery was fast and on time As promised all the products and items that they said were coming with it showed up. The quality looks good and as advertised. I have not installed it yet once installed. I will review and give update.
I contacted etrailer to get their opinion on what components should be used to upgrade the brakes, hubs and wheels on my fifth wheel camper. They provide a list of parts for me to chose. I elected to use oil bath bearings and disc brakes. I purchase most of the parts from etrailer. The hubs and rotors were delivered in 4 boxes, unfortunately one of the boxes was destroyed and was returned. I contacted etrailer the next day and they immediately sent out the replacement parts. The installation was straight forward and took about 10 hours in my driveway. The one setback was that the mounting bolts for the drum backing plate were too short to mount the caliper brackets. The brake controller in the truck is a Prodigy 3 and works flawlessly with the electric over hydraulic brake actuator. The new disc brakes are a huge improvement over the drum brakes. If you are contemplating on whether to change your brakes from drum to disc. DO IT NOW! Thanks etrailer
Brakes work great and after one year, still look great. The XL PROLUBE 2440 oil seal that come with is a poor choice. I had three of the for leak on a long trip. etrailer did the installation and was awesome to work with. They replaced all the seal with a better part at no cost.
Easy installation, only issue I ran into was the OEM axle backing plate studs were to short. I searched everywhere for 3/8 drive in splined studs,, no luck, had to purchase grade 8 3/8x2 inch bolts!
fast delivery and very well packaged
Great upgrade over the original brakes, easy install and work great. Total time for installation was about 30 minutes each.
Everything was exactly as ordered and delivered on time. The only thing that could be improved on is including the 4 bolts used to attach the caliper mounting plate. Most trailers requiring this type of repair are old and the bolts are rusted to the point of needing to be cut off. Thanks for the attention to detail on making sure the correct parts were ordered.
Quality product and looks very well made. The team at etrailer did a super job of helping me get the right parts to convert my Karavan tandem boat trailer to disc brakes.
