Features to know about

Upgrade Old or Dragging Brakes: Slip-On Disc Kit for Smooth, Reliable Stopping

If your old brakes are worn or dragging, this DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit makes a big difference. The slip-on rotors fit over standard idler hubs and use your existing wheel bolts—no need to replace the entire hub-and-rotor assembly. A stainless steel caliper with a 2-1/4" piston and ceramic pads delivers fast, responsive braking that feels smooth and controlled. The kit includes two rotors, calipers, and brackets to upgrade one axle rated at 3,500 lbs.

Made for Harsh Conditions: Maxx Coating and Stainless Steel Calipers Fight Corrosion

Saltwater, slush, and road salt can ruin typical brakes in no time. The Maxx coating on these rotors and brackets has a salt spray rating over 1,000 hours—far outlasting zinc or Dacromet finishes. Stainless steel calipers are rustproof, and drainage holes in the hat section let water drain out quickly to prevent corrosion. Together they keep your brakes looking good and working strong even after repeated exposure to moisture.

Consistent Performance on Long Grades: Vented Rotors Dissipate Heat Fast

Long descents and heavy loads can overheat brakes quickly. DeeMaxx designed these vented rotors with extra drainage holes that move air through the core to shed heat faster. Cooler operation helps prevent brake fade and keeps pad wear even, providing consistent stopping power mile after mile.

DIY-Friendly Design: Simple Install and Easy Maintenance

This kit is built for hands-on installation with no complicated setup required. The slip-over rotors and bolt-on brackets make it straightforward to mount, while laser-etched bleeding instructions on the calipers help you service the brakes without guesswork. Fewer moving parts than drum brakes mean less maintenance over time and easy pad replacement when needed.

Video Transcript for Neighbor Interaction with the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit

I'm here with Brian from Jonesing To Go and he has brought his well, tell us about your setup a little bit. This is a 35-foot Montana by Keystone and right now, the way it sits loaded we're about 14,000 pounds. Today, we're gonna upgrade the brakes to hydraulic disc brakes. And this is something that I've been thinking about for quite some time. And when my wife decided that she's finally ready to start pulling the rig, I knew it's time. I've waited too long.

And so right now, I gotta be honest with you I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas. I can't wait to pull this thing and hit the brakes for the first time once this is done. I've heard nothing but fantastic things about what a difference it makes. And quite honestly, you know one close call on the road is one close call too many. And unfortunately, we have those on a regular basis.

So, you know, you always hear that term white knuckle. I don't know if it's white knuckle but when you're on the brakes on the truck and your hand is on the brakes on the brake controller all the way and you're just praying you get stopped in time you know, I've had enough of that. Now we're gonna take it in the shop and get our brakes installed. We're gonna meet up with Brian later and see what he thinks after. So we got the brakes installed, we're out on the road and this is really the maiden voyage with the disc brakes on.

So Brian tows his fifth wheel quite often, so I'm kind of excited to see his reaction as he stops. So once we get to a nice little straightaway we'll jab the brakes and see what it does. So we're on just kind of a industrial straightaway here. So Brian, go ahead, hit the brakes. Wow, what a difference.

I don't think I've ever felt this thing stop like this ever. Since the day it was new. Brad And gain's set at At five. Brad What do you normally have it at Nine. Brad Well, that's good. At nine, it's never, ever braked like this, ever. In fact, there's been times I've wondered if I'm getting stopped at nine. I'm excited about not only being able to stop, but the maintenance is gonna be so much easier. Oh my God, did you feel that (Brad laughs) I hardly pressed the brake. I think he's pretty happy. Yeah. I think he's gonna enjoy these. Now speaking of braking we've actually done a little bit of tests in our parking lot and it's not exactly out on the highway testing but what we've done is we've gotten up to about 15 miles per hour in our parking lot and just used the trailer brakes at full gain and allowed the drum brakes to do what they can to stop it. Now we've gone ahead and done the exact same braking test. Now just with our DeeMaxx brakes installed. Now for a quick visual reference you can see our cone over here to my left and that's where the front of the truck was before with his drum brakes. You can kind of see where his truck is now. So obviously, it's made a huge difference. We went from 117 foot down to 53. So more than half of what we had before. Imagine that being a car on the highway and you have to make a quick movement. Instead of being there, you can be here. So we've just gone ahead and done our post disc brake installation test. What do you think about that (stutters) I'm speechless. I knew it was gonna be good, I knew it was gonna be better. I hoped it would be that, and it definitely is. I'm confident in everything we do now. I'm confident when my wife is behind the wheel towing this now. Before, I wasn't so sure 'cause she's just learning. I don't know why I didn't do it before. Absolutely, and that's really for a towing experience confidence is everything. Being able to be comfortable behind the wheel and not white knuckle makes your trip enjoyable. And the best when it comes to brakes that's definitely something to it's something you wanna put your hat on saying that you have the best brakes because without stopping, well it makes for a not so great experience. It makes a bad day if you can't stop in time. One close call is one close call too many but they're very frequent out there because even though we drive defensively and leave space between cars especially in a metropolitan area there's always that one person that cuts in hits their brakes and, you know you don't know what they're thinking or what they're doing. We can drive as defensively as we want, it's the other guy. And reaction time is everything but the fact that I have the ability to stop now means the world to me. That's awesome. Thank you so much, Brian. Thank you.

They had answers to my questions. Shipping and delivery was quick.

WOrks very good. Fit on a 15" rim were not good. The site said any 15, 16 or larger. The calibers drag on the inside of rims. I had to choose to go larger size rims but did not want to go larger because the hight I was at lauching boat now. Called tech support, they worked wirh manufacture and was told to grind dowm edge or caliber. It has extra metal from mold at factory. I did about 1/4 inch end to end and all is good with about 1/8 clearaance now.

Great company to buy from. Fast shippin g.

by:

Product was as expected, good quality braking system, installed easily in about 1-2 hours per wheel. Shipping and ordering was quick and easy. Time will tell more after installing on my fresh water boat trailer.
Unfortunately, it did not clear my 15” wheels properly, as indicated in the product description. I found by adding a 1/4” wheel spacer, that was just enough to get the clearance needed to prevent the calipers from rubbing on my 15” rims. (I have also seen others say that they used a grinder to take about 1/4” off the caliper body to get them to clear). This is the only reason for 4/5 stars.

Madison was a great help and knew exactly what I needed for my application. Parts came quick and were easy to install.

by:

Have not installed yet but the kit appears well made. Hoping the pads hold up well.

Absolutely 100 percent positive!!!
ETRAILER.COM
is the fastest customer service i have ever seen !
Great Job!!!!

by:

They definitely made a huge difference for stopping no question about it

by:

Parts look good.  One problem is the caliper plate sticks out 3/16 inches farther which means you have to change the plate .  Drilling out the old plate is a nightmare.

by:

Fast Delivery, great tracking and all parts fixed perfectly.

by:

Good product. Great service. Some damage occurred during shipping, but replacement parts were shipped free of charge.

by:

Still have not road tested them, but the ease of installation was great. All 4 wheels swapped out in one day.

by:

Has been reliable for 1 year

by:

Well Designed and build. I took some time to remove old set - it was rusted in place reel good. But install of the new set was very easy.
The improvement in braking is very significant i am controlling brakes with electric/hydraulic actuator and the system works just like brakes on the car - very precise and sensitive.

by:

Awesome people to work with. Finding the right trailer parts isn't easy. Amy J has helped me out quite a few times. This is where I will get all of my parts.

by:

I have not had much time on the road with these but from day 1 it was obvious I made the right choice. The items came in packaging that I would rate at 4 stars as there were some concerns but nothing drastic. The install was straight forward and everything went together as intended. I like the better braking control with the new system that works much better than the old set. My trailer is 2019 and the rotors were badly rotted, the calipers worked but were hanging up but these are a total game changer. Brakes work great!

by:

Braking effect is much more pronounced that my previous disc brakes. Parts delivered quickly. Installed to replace Knott calipers which had been locking up frequently- these calipers and rotors show no signs of corrosion or loss of brake effect after a couple of uses in saltwater. I would highly recommend purchasing mounting hardware as these do not come with any- also note if you have tandem axels you need to have “T” line splitters as the brake line inlet is standard 3/16 (or 1/8 NPT if you remove the included 90° fitting)- the Y splitter that my previous calipers used through the lower bleed fitting were too big. Very satisfied so far; just need to see how they hold up over time.

by:

Easy to install, Fit perfect, and Wow, stops you so much better than drum brakes!

by:

Braking is 1000x better than the OEM drum brakes. I've had to turn the brake controller way down because I was locking up the tires on a 14,000 lb RV. Will plan on putting on other trailers that I plan on keeping for a long time.

by:

Fit perfectly on my EZ Loader Tandem Axle Trailer from 2008

by:

Only thing that I could suggest is a better product description of exactly what’s in the box. I thought the bearings would be greased. (Nope) and the rotor and hub were 2 parts. (1 part). Other than that it was a great experience:-)

by:

The rotors are of average quality. Beware!!! The wheel studs are too short if you have aluminum alloy wheels. I had to change all 36. Installation is still in progress.

by:

I bet they are nice, if shipped and re-sold by a competent company. Unfortunately, we're dealing with Etrailer here. Well... on this one, the last order I ever make with them. Crappy packaging means the rotors were free to make minced meat out of everything else inside the boxes. Due to life, it was a year before I was able to install them on the trailer. On top of it all, they decided it would be a great idea reward the hard-earned money I spent with them by spamming me, sending me unwanted unsolicited email until I threatened them with a lawsuit (CAN SPAM act).
I ended up visiting the local Tool store popular in the Northern and getting the parts to repair what Etrailer's incompetence in packing wrought.

by:

Emma was great at helping me purchase these parts. They arrived two days earlier than expected as well. Your videos are also very well done and full of great information. I have some painting and rust removal to do before reassembly but will send pix when complete. Thx again

Thanks for sharing your experience, Frank! I know Emma will be excited to hear that the brakes arrived early. Can't wait to see your picture when you're done with your project! What kind of trailer are you fixing up?

by:

Just got them, but haven't installed yet. They look of very high quality. So far happy with the purchase I will do another review once installed and working.
