Features to know about

Confident Traction on Snowy Roads: Twist Links Grip Without the Bounce

When the road turns slick with snow or light ice, these low-profile, twist link chains give the grip you need without the harsh ride of square links. The small, rounded links bite into snow for forward traction while keeping things smoother on packed surfaces. The ladder pattern helps you pull steadily through tough spots, whether it’s a steep driveway or a snowy back road.

More Durable Than Cables: Low-Carbon Steel Holds Up to Years of Use

If you’ve used cable chains before, you’ll notice right away how much tougher these feel. They’re built from low-carbon steel that resists wear and bending, so they can take seasonal use without giving up their shape. That extra durability makes them a great just-in-case option for winter driving in mountain or rural areas.

Fits Tight Spaces with Class S Clearance: Built for Limited Wheel Wells

Many cars don’t have much room between the tire and the wheel well. These chains meet SAE Class S standards, needing only 1.46" (37 mm) clearance above the tread and 0.59" (15 mm) at the sidewall. That clearance-friendly design means you still get solid traction even on vehicles that can’t run bulkier chains.

Simple, Reliable Connection: Manual Tensioning Without Cams

You won’t find any cams or levers here to shake loose when you’re backing up or rolling over rough snow. The straightforward manual tensioning system keeps things secure and predictable. For a tighter hold, you can add rubber adjusters (sold separately) to lock everything in place and keep the chains centered.

Step 1 of tire chain installation showing chains laid flat on the ground to remove tangles before placing on tire.

Step 2 of snow chain installation showing chains being draped over a vehicle tire for even alignment before tightening.

Step 3 of tire chain installation showing hands connecting chain hooks behind vehicle tire to secure fit.

Step 4 of snow chain installation showing attachment of optional rubber tensioners for tighter fit around tire.

Easy to Store and Ready When You Need Them: Compact Pair with Storage Case

Each package includes two tire chains and a reusable storage case. They pack down small enough to fit in your trunk, so you can keep them handy for sudden snowfalls or when chain laws kick in. With their quick, drive-on installation and solid grip, these Titan Chain Low Profile Tire Chains make winter driving simpler and safer when conditions turn rough.

Class S Designation

Diagram showing SAE Class S tire chain clearance requirements with labeled measurements A and B for minimum wheel-well and sidewall spacing.

  • A: a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B: at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

The chains seem to be good quality and as represented.

by:

here again, thank you

by:

They look good haven’t had to use them yet but fit good

by:

Perfect fit and very easy to install.
Haven’t
used them in the snow yet based on my previous experiences I confident they will be fine.

by:

Great product! Very easy to install on my crown Victoria! I can’t wait to use in the snow!

by:

I love the product, and your service. I do highly recommend it to everyone. At this moment I do not have a picture yet. I will in a short future.

by:

I just got them yesterday and once it snows though see how they work

by:

installed in about 10 mins ; have not used in snow yet ; able to drive at about 30 mph on hard surface road with no problems , just to make sure they would hold up ... NO COMPLAINTS . GOOD PRODUCT!

by:

Awesome product, although truth be told I havent used them whatsoever yet - havent had that much icy roads. But it looks sturdy and in good shape.

by:

Excellent fit and worked very well. Only issue so far is that we had one link break, but I am guessing that this happens on occasion. We have them on again for this winter's plowing, but have not had to use them yet (thankfully!).

by:

Excellent fit. There was one link put on backwards from all the rest but managed to make it work. Very satisfied with product and customer service

Heading west and knew I would need tire chains for the trip. They offered what I needed and were sent out quickly.

by:

Only used once to get out of mud but were easy to install and worked nicely. They also pack down really small which is nice for storage in my small truck.

by:

Very tight to get on but I found I do not require the tensioner. Very good product.

by:

Got on time, packed nice, made in China, and have not used yet. Going to use these on Dodge Caravan FWD when towing travel trailer out of steep camp sites were road surface is poor. Hoping it does work out.

by:

Purchased for our early 60’s snow plow. These chains worked well the whole season- 3 months here. Never threw a chain or got stuck

by:

I bought the chains after one winter morning when I could not get up a hill near my home. Living in Colorado one day can be a blizzard and the next sunny with snow melt off in a few days. Since my purchase I have not had the need to put on the chains but I know that they will fit and I am prepared. I gave an average rating for that reason.

by:

These tire chains fit my JLG Boom Lift tires, size 25x7-12, perfectly after I removed two cross links. They were longer than I needed, but worked perfectly fine after I made the adjustments, which was very easy to do! The advice provided by Andrew was perfect! Thank you Andrew and etrailer.com. Also, I received the chains 2 days after I ordered them - super fast shipment!!! Great company to deal with. I would buy from them again!

by:

As with everything I get from etrailer my new snow chains arrived in an extremely timely manner. Had a few questions during the ordering process which were answered with a single, helpful, friendly, concise phone call. My vehicle is equipped with oversized tires so I had to use the tire size calculator to get the correct fit for the tires I am using. The tire calculator was right on. Perfect fit. Perfect wheel well clearance when mounted on front or back. I needed type S chains for my commuter vehicle to make the 5 mile trip to the main road on those 12" snow/ freezing rain mornings not only comfortable, and possible, but also as safe as possible. Long story short if you need snow chains of any size or style etrailer is you store.

by:

Website is useful, ordering is easy, prices are reasonable, shipping is fast.
Will be back when will try chains during Christmas trip.

Chains were easy to put on and with the rubber tensioners these chains are snug. Haven't used these on the road but my driveway was covered with snow and ice and it handled it great

I bought these chains after the 1st storm in Atlanta. Had them on for the second storm. Drove all night, didnt slip once. The 1st chain took me about 15minutes to get on, the second only took 5 minutes. They went on easy, and came off easy. Driving in the snow with these chains made the driving boring. Excellent product.

Bought for my 2015 Dodge Grand Caravan. It is now unstoppable. My Vermont private road is too steep to be classified as a town road, and it went up through 6 inches of snow with icy spots without ever flinching.

by:

Needed some help getting up my son‘s driveway.
These
were very easy to put on one at a time and will be very helpful.
I did drive a short distance on the the road, which was very bumpy and could only go about 10 miles an hour.
I took a spin out in the backyard which had about a foot of snow on it without a problem.
Very happy with the purchase for 2016 Dodge grand Caravan

JUST WHAT I WANTED. Good quality, light duty, low profile, ladder pattern tire chains. Perfect fit, 225/60 R17, on my 2024 Subaru Crosstrek, although this was my second Go-a-Round on ordering. Titan Chain lists TC1138 as the size for this tire and my car. NOT SO! The TC1142 is the one that fits ... perfectly! But Titan says that's for a 225/65 R17 size. THEY ARE WRONG! The TC1138 is 4" too short, and that's a HUGE discrepancy for tire chains. etrailer was absolutely no help with getting the right fit as they only go by listed sizes and don't know any product details (and don't want to know), only selling chains. They tried to steer me towards a Konig Chain with a diamond pattern at almost 5x the cost and far more complicated to install. I found the right chain size on their website in about 5 min. and ordered 2x pairs.

  • Tire Chains that Can be Used on Tire Size 225/75-16 of Minnie Winnie Motorhome
The Titan Tire chains part # TC1142 are a fit for your tire size of 225/75-16 and can be used on your motorhome but due that extra weight they would wear out quicker than if it was a lighter vehicle. If you wanted a set of chains that use a harder metal that wouldn't wear out as quickly we have the Konig chains part # TH01571245 which would work great and install a little easier as well. Also has built in tensioners.

The Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains # TC1142 that you purchased are a confirmed fit for the 235/45-18 tires on your 2018 Toyota Camry. With that being said, I took a look at the online owner's manual for your Camry and on page 346 it states to only use chains if you have 16" or 17" tires. If you have 18" or 19" tires then you need to use snow tires instead of chains to avoid damaging your vehicle. So while the chains technically fit your tire size, they will damage your vehicle so you either...

Start by turning the wheels to either all the way right or all the way left. Then measure the distance from the inside of the sidewall of the tire to the nearest part of the van on both sides. This is clearance that you cannot exceed with chains. You will also need to check the owners manual of the...

They don't do quite as well in deep snow when compare to square link or on ice like the V-bars.
