Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Certain newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large, aftermarket tires - may require Class S chains.

SAE Class S Clearances

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle itself.

Installation Step 1

1. Drape the chain over the tire, making sure that the side chain with the lever is on the outside. Drive forward about 1/4 of a tire revolution. (You can also lay the chain out and then drive onto it.)

Installation Step 2

2. Reach around behind the tire and fasten the ends of the chain together.

Installation Step 3

3. Move back to the front of the tire and fasten the ends of the chain together using the built-in lever.

Installation Step 4

4. Drive forward a bit and tighten the chain as needed by moving the hook to the next link.

You can use rubber or chain adjusters (sold separately) to increase the tension on the chains for a tighter fit.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

Part of order was going to come late, so they shipped separate. Got what I needed in time. Thanks.

2014 Honda Odyssey

Very happy with etrailer web site, ordering, support, notification and product. Easy to follow instructions included in product. Purchased chains for our Honda Odyssey with P235/60R18 tires. Chains easy to install. After a couple fit tests I found I needed to cut the tire perimeter circumferential main chains back to the link holding the last cross tire chain (note: I did not cut the link holding the last cross chain, I cut the next link closer to the chain end thus making the link holding the cross chain the last link. I also cut the last cross tire cross chain at the two links where they attach to the main circumferential front and back chains. This was no big deal as I have a pair of bolt cutters and this is not the first time I have had to fit chains to my tire. Once cut and fitted drove up and down the driveway accumulating several yards driven. I found you will need to retighten after my test which was easy. Have yet to give them the real test in snow.

These are real tire chains, My grand daughter bought some from O'Reilly's during our last snow storm. They were way over price and the metal was soft. I could bend the links with my hand. I found Your chains on line so I purchased them. I received them in short order (fast). They are heavy duty steel and I don't feel they will be like the ones she purchased and break in 5 miles. I'll see that she knows how to put them one right. So glad I found your ad on line.

2011 Chevrolet Impala

Chains arrived in a timely manner and in good condition. My tires are the smallest on the size range chart so chains had to be trimmed to length by several inches in order to fit snugly on my tires. Have not used them yet but I see no problems so far.

2003 Ford Explorer

We just got our first snow for the season of nearly 10 inches. The chains were not needed at this time but will be needed during my elk hunting trip the first part of November. The chains did arrive very quickly and hassle free. Thank you.

2011 Honda Odyssey

Everything is exactly as described
with a super fast shipping. It is my second time using etrailer and my experience is beyond excellent, highly recommended.

2018 Honda Odyssey

Looks great, instruction clear and laminated. Quality chain and connector.
Expect to work well and last long.

Shipped quickly and received as promised! No issues.

Review from a similar Twist Link Ladder in Tire Chains

I know iron. 17 yrs trucking, mostly doubles across Montana into the Dakotas. Chained up a lot.
Pictures show what you get with this set I bought for my 2005 Tahoe. Heavy gauge chains w/triple cam locks w/long wrench for excellent leverage to get cams tight. Tight cams mean links don't "slap" pavement which causes increased wear. They arrived today so not used yet. However, for my application they will last a lot longer than those cheaper; light gauge, "disposable" chains, use once and throw away after you pay a tow bill.

Review from a similar Twist Link Ladder in Tire Chains

Chains seem to be made top quality. Only test fit them so far with perfect fit on a 35x12.5 r18 tire. Hopefully I dont have to use them but the security of having them and knowing the quality and fit is great is worth it.

Review from a similar Twist Link Ladder in Tire Chains

Needed these chains for a snowboarding trio this December. Installed them in my yard to make sure they fit, and figure out which link worked best. Now that i know what link to use, next time it should only take sbout 10 min to put them on. I really like how they stay away from my wheels so should not scrstch them. My yard was very soft from recent rain and you can see how well the chains dig into the mud. Should be really good on snow/ice.

Review from a similar Twist Link Ladder in Tire Chains

Fantastic customer service. Ordered on a Friday afternoon, received by Tuesday, left to a snowy camp on Thursday. Chains did not list my tire size on the bag but included them on the website. Tried the sizing before I left home and they fit perfectly. Received almost 2 feet of snow and chained the fronts and backs in order to pull a 30' trailer up a nasty forest road. Chains were easy to put on and worked like a dream. Totally recommended, especially for the price.

Chains fit great and are easy to throw on in a snowy or muddy pinch.

Review from a similar Twist Link Ladder in Tire Chains

Delivered fast, popped these on to get gamiliare with them and actyally tested them out on a road that was snow packed solid ice, my truck would not spin... i tried to make it, but the chains would not allow it in my situation. Yes chains ride rough.. real rough to be honest, but its better than not making it to your destination. They are heavy ( a big pro) feel like excellent quality and would recommend them to anyone who lives in a state that allows them.

I have only used them twice since i bought these, how ever they have held up great in storage, not a single spot of rust, or anything. They are still in brand new condition

Review from a similar Twist Link Ladder in Tire Chains

I had some concerns about the chains fitting my vehicle, 2015 Ram 1500 with P275/60R20. I couldn't find any information from Dodge, nor my dealer, but just happen to have a video showing 3 options for my exact truck. I tried them on to make sure they fit, and they fit pretty snug and look like they will do just fine. I haven't tested them in the snow, but I will write a follow up review once that happens.

Review from a similar Twist Link Ladder in Tire Chains

Good chains, but were a bit too long for my 2017 Lexus GX, so a few links of chain had to be cut with a bolt cutter. Even with the chain cut, there is a little extra length that needs to be tied up so that it isn’t clunking as you drive. I’ve had plenty of experience installing chains (both cable and regular) and these were the most difficult ones I’ve ever put on. Hopefully this gets a bit easier with practice!

Review from a similar Twist Link Ladder in Tire Chains

I,m nearing the end of season two with these tire chains on my F-250 pickup. Overall they are a good product; relatively easy to put on and they do the job well. My only issue with the chains, are the 4 cams on each chain used to tighten them down. The metal used for the cams is a little thinner than it should be and they have a tendency to bend and become misshapen. This can cause them to be difficult to turn them and tighten the chain optimally. I have had to use a mallet a couple of times to smack one or two back into shape. Other than this, I'm quite happy with them.

Review from a similar Twist Link Ladder in Tire Chains

these chains are great in all types of conditions from ice to deep snow.Used on professional plow truck in the mountains of Vermont.
It would be helpful if they came with a spare wrench for tighten the cams.

You can purchase an additional wrench as a spare with item # TCTH2

  • Will Titan Tire Chains TC1146 Fit a 2012 Toyota Sienna
The Titan tire chains # TC1146 will fit if your 2012 Toyota Sienna has 235/55-18 or 235/60-17 tires. These chains are going to offer better traction than cables but not as much as square links. They are a good middle of the road type of design that should work well for occasional use like you have indicated. I also recommend the rubber adjusters # TCOA1 to make installation easier and maintain the proper tension on the chains. Be sure to consult the vehicle owners manual for specific information...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for Tire Sizes 225/75/R15 and 275/55R20
For the tire size you listed of 225/75R15 the correct size Glacier Twist Link chains are part # TC1142. Twist links chains are great as they offer a smoother ride quality. They don't do quite as well in deep snow when compare to square link or on ice like the V-bars. For a trailer though I would recommend going with a diamond pattern like the part # TC1553 as they offer better side to side traction over ladder style chains. With a trailer you don't want to end up locking up the tires and...

The Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains - Ladder Pattern - Twist Links - 1 Pair # TC1146 is a confirmed fit for the 235/60r17 tires you referenced. The Titan Chain Multi-Arm Rubber Tire Chain Adjuster for Light Trucks - 1 Pair # TCMA2 you will also need to keep these chains tight to your tires. These are more bulky chains than you would typically use on a Saturn Vue, so I recommend using a smaller diameter to allow wheel clearance and prevent possible damage to your wheel wells. • Tire Chain Recommendation for 235/55-19 Tires on a 2022 Kia Carnival
The Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC1555 will not fit the 235/55-19 tires on your 2022 Kia Carnival but as an alternative we have the pewag Servo RS # PWRSV80A. If you're looking for something that is a bit more cost-effective then I recommend checking out the Titan Chain # TC1146. These have the D Links so they will do a good job at giving you traction, but they are in the ladder pattern which will be more noticeable than the diamond pattern of the chain mentioned above. • What Tire Chains Will Fit a 275/35-20 Tire Size on a 2008 Audi A8
We do carry tire chains that will fit a 275/35-20 tire size. There are 2 options. First is the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chains - 1 Pair, # PW1042, that you have referenced. This is a basic set of chains designed for occasional use. The second option is Glacier Square-Link Snow Tire Chains - 1 Pair, # TC1146. The square links in these chains offer more grip on snowy or icy roads. For either set it is recommended to use Glacier Rubber Adjusters for Class S Snow Chains - 1 Pair, # PW100, to...

For your 2016 Maserati GranTurismo and 245/35-20 tires I wouldn't use anything but K-Summit chains # TH02230K44. With these chains there is nothing that wraps around the tires. Its all on the tread and outer sidewall. These chains also have rim protection so they won't damage the wheels. Be sure to consult the vehicle owner's manual for specific information on the use of tire chains. I have also included a link to our tire chain help article for you to check out.

The best option we have for the tire size 245/35R20 tires you have on your 2015 Chevy Malibu are going to be the Konig K-Summit Chains part # TH02230K44 as these chains are designed to fit your tire size and since they do not drape of the inner shoulder of the tire they basically don't require any clearance at all unlike other chains.
