Features to know about

Confident Driving on Snow and Ice: Diamond Pattern Keeps Traction Constant

When the roads stack up with snow or ice, the diamond pattern on these Konig Commercial Truck Tire Chains keeps you moving with steady control. The cross-angled design gives continuous contact with the road, smoothing out the ride and improving grip when accelerating, turning, or braking. You’ll feel the difference right away—no harsh bumping like old ladder chains, just confident traction through every patch of snow and slush.

Quick Chain Mounting in Tough Weather: Assisted Tensioning Simplifies the Job

Mounting chains in cold weather can be tough, but these make it simple. The built-in assisted tensioners pull the chain snug around your tire without tools. Just make the color-coded hook and clip connections, then tug the integrated tensioners to lock everything tight. Because the tensioners are built in, you won’t lose parts in the snow, and you can be rolling again in minutes.

Konig Commercial Truck Tire Chains laid flat on the ground with no twists or kinks before installation

Connecting the blue cable ends of Konig Commercial Truck Tire Chains behind the tire during installation

Connecting the red hook to the red link on the front of the tire while installing Konig Commercial Truck Tire Chains

Feeding the tensioning chain through the large clip and tightening it at the bottom of the tire when installing Konig Tire Chains

Stretching the hook across the tire and attaching it to the side chain after threading the tensioning chain through red clips on Konig Tire Chains

Strong Grip Without the Rattle: Square Links Bite Deep but Ride Smooth

Square links really dig into packed snow and light ice for reliable traction when you need it most. Their compact shape gives solid grip while keeping your ride smoother than bulkier round links. The result is steady traction for hills, icy driveways, or long rural climbs—all without the chatter or bounce that comes from rougher chain styles.

Built to Last Through Harsh Winters: Manganese Nickel Alloy Steel Resists Wear and Rust

These chains are made from high-quality manganese nickel alloy steel, a material known for strength and corrosion resistance. The powder-coated side chain even helps protect your wheel rims while adding another layer of durability. Season after season, you can count on these chains to hold up against road salt, slush, and constant cold.

Ready for Real-World Winter Work: Fits 15"–18" Tires with 5/8" Clearance

Each pair comes sized for 15"–18" tires and requires just 5/8" of internal clearance. That means they fit tighter spaces typical of modern trucks and SUVs while still giving the bite and reliability of a heavier commercial chain. With a 5-year warranty and a tough nylon storage bag, they’re built for drivers who need dependable traction year after year.

Note

To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Wonderfully! Going to Tahoe again soon and looking forward to having to use them. Actually, more like- not scared of tire chains again.

by:

Konig Chains are my only choice for chains. This is a new set of chains for new vehicle; the first set I got was in the early 1990's, for a 1972 Dodge. And I have been using them ever since...

by:

I'm a little slow responding but I wanted to thank you for your expert technical advice and for masterfully navigating the logistics. The chains arrived spot on time and we were ready for our road trip. I guess the good news is we didn't have to use them but we were prepared and will be for future trips that include snow driving.
I've given 5 stars for excellent customer service, a rare commodity these days.

by:

I used them once. While they did the job in the snow, they took the finish off the side of the wheel where they rubbed. Had to get both of my rear wheels refinished.

by:

We haven't had to use our new tire chains yet, but we were pleased with the fast, efficient service by etrailer. They arrived just days after I placed the order. The chains look very easy to install and are packed neatly in a carrying case. Thanks etrailer for great service and a great product at a reasonable price.

by:

Fortunately, I have not had to use the chains. I have reviewed installation instructions, however, and found them straightforward and have practiced putting them on several times.

Since I travel I-5 through Northern California in late Spring, I might have occasion to use the chains in the upcoming months. I believe, based on my practice installation, that I should be able to put them on my tires with little effort.

by:

Very easy to install on tire, without having to crawl under car.

by:

Product arrived quickly, and in great shape. Product did not include gloves, nor mat, but that's not a big deal. The plastic instructions are truly plastic, which is pretty nifty when considering installation in snow.

Fit on my 2018 Grand Touring CX-5 seems fine - I have yet to use the chains in snow, but I fit them on my car in the garage per the video recommendations. Video installations may tell you that the yellow tab needs to face towards the front of the vehicle - I found this to be false/true depending on if you were on the passenger or driver side of the vehicle. I believe that correct installation has the chain approach the tire from left to right, independent of vehicle direction. That is, if on the driver side (USA vehicle), the chain will be wrapped around the tire with the yellow tab coming from the front of the vehicle. If installing on the passenger side, the chain wraps coming from the rear of the vehicle. This was to ensure that the non-hooked sides (smooth side) of the chains were facing the rims on both driver and passenger installations per the installation videos.

One of the red plastic tabs required re-seating on the chain as it was inverted and would sit upside down when the chains were installed.

1 year follow-up: I used the chains on a recent road trip to a mountain snow elevation. They worked as a nice option for traveling through the mountains to get to the snow shoeing area in uncertain weather, but be sure to add extra time for the 30mph speed limit when using chains. The tension chain did seem a bit longloose on one of the tires, so I double backed to keep things tight. Not sure if thats necessary.

Just received my Thule 247 XB16 Tire Chains. What a great product!! Got them for my 93 Ford Ranger which has 30x9.5x15 tires and they fit great! I plan on using these during snow and ice storms as I work for an electric utility and have to report to work. After viewing the etrailer instructional video I was able to put both chains on in less than 5 minutes. Delivery was quick too and I love how George J from Etrailer sent me an email quickly letting me know that my order was processed and included tracking information too! I feel confident I can count on Etrailer for future orders. Very professional and they have staff experienced with the product standing by if you have problems or questions! Thanks Etrailer!

Fantastic customer service, constant follow up from etrailer.com. I need the product urgently and it arrived in a couple of days all the way to Canada! The product is very high quality and was easy to install. I have a cottage with a steep hill and when it’s full of ice it’s very tough to get up even with my 4x4 now I don’t have to put sand and salt down for 500 plus feet! Konig chains are a life saver.

Thank you!

  • What Does Class S Compatible Mean For Tire Chains?
Hello Destiny, thanks for reaching out. So class S tire chains are designed for vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Sometimes traditional tire chains would be too large for certain vehicles and could cause damage to spring clips, fenders, braces, splash pans, fuel lines, brake lines, or brake controls. If you check your owner's manual it will specify if you need to use Class S chains on your vehicle or not. If I recall correctly the 2017 Santa Fe would not require class S chains,...
