Konig's innovative design makes the XG12 Pro snow chains for SUVs and crossover vehicles quick and easy to attach and remove. Once the chain is looped around the tire and the three color-coded connections are made, the patented self-centering, automatic-tensioning system takes over, creating a perfect fit as you drive away.

Konig snow chains are handmade in Italy of hardened manganese-nickel alloy steel for durability and feature dual-side, 12-mm-diameter, D-shape links that provide superior traction for the best grip on snow and ice. Anti-scratch nylon bumpers protect your vehicle's wheel rims. Included with each pair of chains are mounting instructions, a kneeling mat and pair of gloves, all packaged in a sturdy, durable container.

How to install the snow chain:

Quick and easy installation
  1. Spread the chain around the back of the tire.
  2. Connect the plastic-covered, yellow and blue cable on the back side of the tire.
  3. Pull the chain over the top and around the tire; connect the red hook to the red loop.
  4. Make the last connection by first running the red loop through the buckle, then to the red hook attached to the tensioning cable.
    • Simply drive forward to activate the patented self-centering and auto-tensioning system to ensure a perfect fit.

How to choose snow chains for your vehicle:

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

  1. (185) - indicates the width

This product was excellent. I am a female in my mid 20's and had never put chains on my car. I was able to put each one of these on in under a minute! I have already been recommending these to friends

Comments
This is why we highly recommend folks get some practice installing/removing the chains while the vehicle is in their driveway or garage. Its much easier to become familiar with the process there than in the snow on the side of a busy road!

These are wonderful tire chains. really easy and fast to install. They store nicely in the case provided. Remember to read your Car owner's manual before buying or installing low clearance tire chains. Chains go on rear wheels only on my Audi Q5!

This is an excellent product. The auto-tightening feature works well. Now having used them I am confident that the chains will not slip around or flap as sometimes loose chains will. I am very satisfied them. I do suggest that anyone who buys these chains to keep the instruction booklet as the infrequency of using them causes forgetfulness in how to put them on.

The best set of tire chains I ever bought... and I have bought a lot of them over the decades. Yes, they are more expensive than those cheaper chains, but REALLY worth the extra cost. I'm close to 70 years old and I have no trouble putting these chains on and taking them off even when snow is already on the ground. You just need to follow the directions and practice a couple of times in dry weather. Don't wait till you need them and then try to figure it out. No tools needed. Self adjusting, so no stopping to tighten the chains. Best of all is that they are heavy duty, not cheap steel. These things are probably going to last longer than our cars. We bought them for all our cars.

Excellent customer service from Sandy J. Patient and thorough as we ran through options for my 2015 Toyota Sienna SE minivan and its somewhat challenging needs. But Sandy made sure that my Konig chains would fit—and indeed they did. The chains are “self tensioning,” but I bought and used the cheap but effective Titan multi arm rubber adjusters anyway. They added more tension still. Chains are never fun to install but everything worked fine. Thanks!

Product works as described, great service, and thank you Olivia for your help. I had found the product on another website with a lower price, which I told the sales rep about. I asked if they would price match which they did. I went with Etrailer not only for the low price but having purchased from them before I knew that they would provide the best service. The time estimated for delivery, well they beat that by 4 days... Under promise over deliver!

The Good: These chains work really well on snow and ice. I have a nasty driveway in the winter and these babies get my car right up to the house. They install relatively easily if you are on a flat, snow-free surface, but can be a bit stubborn if there is any snow packed around the tire at all. The Bad: etrailer always seems to be out of this brand, or waiting on their supplier. Two years in a row, I've had to wait multiple weeks to get these delivered, which can be frustrating if the snow is already flying. Order early and be patient.

Look exactly like Thule, labeled Konig, name change or sale? Too soon to comment on durability in case grade of steel isn't as good, but... Three years with the same Thules on my wife's Subaru Outback, and experience with no plate thules and Pewag. These are by far the easiest to put on and remove, less than 5 minutes , often done in the dark. My application would be best suited to V-bars (3+" solid ice and steep hill with switchbacks) but the plates do a reasonable job on the ice. The last two winters were El Niño in AK so the set could easily have 100 uses up and down the 1/3 mi hill with no appreciable wear. They've also kept my better half on the hill instead of off of the cliff.

Review from a similar XG12 Pro in Tire Chains

I love these chains, and etrailer is the best! As a 69 yr old retired grandma, I work part-time at a ski resort. A few weeks ago, we were expecting 8-10 inches of snow/ice and I was scheduled to work. So, I put these idiot-proof, color-coded, self-adjusting chains on my Highlander front low profile tires and waited for weather. See photo. I worked my full shift, came out to ice/snow in dark, and drove safely home. Oh, and the carrying case comes with a folded plastic sheet, but with my old knees I added a foam pad!

Perfect fit, less than 3 minutes per side to install on my first test to install on flat ground and fair weather. $ minutes each in bad weather, Always test the fit prior to actually needing to use the emergency chains. I just used them in Montana during a storm with heavy snow and ice covered roads. My rear wheel drive Sprinter van had no issues maintaining very good traction. Note : I was also pulling my snowmobile trailer that weighed about 2700 lbs. Going up into the mountains in gear 4 at 20 MPH More important was low gear back down the grade. They are not intended to use over 25MPH

Comments
I used this product on 6 trips because of very poor conditions of ice and snow. The chains are holding up quite well. I am over 60 years old and have no issue installing by my self because I have used them several times. It does take about 6 minutes to install on the road. I never use them with out hard pack snow. I am heading back to Montana soon and will be ready with my trusty chain kit. Also thank you for suggesting this product and getting me the CORRECT size to fit my tires.

Purchased for use of a 2019 JL Wrangler. Seem very high quality, will be trying them out in Montana January 2020. Definitely easy on, easy off install. I would suggest trying them on the vehicle prior to initial use in the intended climate. Right out of the box they were stored appropriately and not tangled. Easy to place back in storage container. Will be purchasing a set for the wife's and in-law's vehicles providing they excel in winter climate, but have no doubts they will.

I put the chains on in good weather to make sure I knew how. It took a little longer the first time, learning that you must orient the chains just as shown in the videos. After doing it once, it was easy to repeat the process. They fit perfectly and worked perfectly last winter. Lightweight, easy on and off, I'm very happy with them. They are a bit expensive, but the convenience has been worth it to me.

Review from a similar XG12 Pro in Tire Chains

Expensive but seem worth the cost. I'm a big believer in the "buy once, cry once" philosophy, and don't mind paying a premium for quality that will last. Time will tell on the long-term durability of these chains (the retractable bungee and its plastic connectors give me pause, but we'll see), but my initial assessment is that they're well designed and well built, and are by far the easiest to put on chains I've used. I'll update this review after the snowy season with my thoughts on performance relative to traditional chains I've used in the past, as well as their durability. P.S. watch the installation videos. They're much more informative than the manual that comes with the chains

Review from a similar XG12 Pro in Tire Chains

Bought the chains for my wife's Volvo XC70 and a winter cross country trip last January. Needed them on I-5 between California and Oregon. They worked great. Practiced installing and removing them in the garage before the trip. Installing the chains in the snow was quick and easy. Appreciated the self tensioning feature. Found out the hard way, though, that removing the chains is only easy if the wheel/tire is in the same position relative to the road as when the chains were installed. Easier said than done when it's raining and the wind is blowing up a storm after crossing the snowy mountain pass. Now we know to pack a crayon with the chains so we can mark the top of the tire after installing them, know to drive forward or back to again put the mark on top when it's time to remove them. Otherwise you end up with tensioning cables wrapped around brake calipers and lots of cussing.

  • Should Snow Chains Be Installed on Front Only or All Four Tires of 2019 Honda CR-V AWD
According to the owner's manual, Honda recommends installing chains on the front tires only. The manual states that because of the limited clearance to the inside of the tire, cable-type chains should be used. The cables needed will depend on the tire size. For a 235/60-18, use # PW2117V or for 235/65-17 tires, use # PW2119V. Either set includes the rubber adjusters to keep the cables snug to the tires. Either cable set is covered by a 90 day warranty. I spoke to my contact at Konig and they stated that as long as you do not have more than 1 finger of wiggle room underneath the chain and on top of the tire then you can use the 247 XG12 on both P235/55-R18 and P235/60-R18 tires. If you do have more than...

The online owner's manual for your 2014 Acura RDX says on page 309 that chains are to be installed on the FRONT tires only and that low-profile S-Class chains are the type that should be used. For the RDX stock tire size 235/60-18 the best S-Class chains are the Konig Diamond Pattern K-Summit set # TH02230K66 which are shown in the linked photo. These premium chains...
