Question:
All weather tire 235/50R19. MB manual claims only to use snow chains on the rear tires?! I thought we would need them on all 4? What would you recommend Z-cables or reg chains? Any brand?

I pulled up an owners manual for a Mercedes Benz GLK 350 and they do not recommended to put chains on the front tires because they may drag against the vehicle body or chassis components.
For your application, I recommend the Thule Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit XL - Size K66, # TH02230K66. These tire chains have a very unique design that makes them easy to install after the first time through the instructions and will automatically adjust tension for your drive from there. These chains allow you to install them without getting underneath the vehicle and tighten with a rachet that tightens as you drive away. They colapse for easy storage.
For a more cost efficient option, I recommend the Thule Standard Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - XB16 - Size 247, # TH01571247. These chains require 16mm of clearance and have color coded connection points to make installation easy.
I recommend these style chains over regular chains or cables because they are lower profile, made of the strongest metal, and easier to install than most other chains. I've attached installation videos of each of these tire chains for you.
