What Does Class S Compatible Mean For Tire Chains?

Question:
Hi there when looking up the kind of chains i need for my Hyundai santa fe sport 2017, it says in each of the results “ • Not Class S Compatible” can you please tell me what this means?

Hello Destiny, thanks for reaching out. So class S tire chains are designed for vehicles with restricted wheel well clearance. Sometimes traditional tire chains would be too large for certain vehicles and could cause damage to spring clips, fenders, braces, splash pans, fuel lines, brake lines, or brake controls. If you check your owner's manual it will specify if you need to use Class S chains on your vehicle or not. If I recall correctly the 2017 Santa Fe would not require class S chains, but please confirm.
What size tires do you have on your Santa Fe? Let me know and I am happy to make a recommendation.
