Rear Suspension Support

Towing or hauling a heavy load can cause rear sag as your factory suspension compresses under the weight of the load. This means that the rear axle is trying to support not only the extra load but also the weight of your vehicle. And because there is less weight on your front axle, your front tires make less contact with the road, which causes problems with traction, steering, and braking. SumoSprings upgrade your vehicle's factory suspension to level your vehicle, improve driving performance, and keep your ride comfortable.

Installed spring when it is not compressed

SumoSprings provide progressive load control - the more you load them, the stiffer they become. With a lighter load, the springs will compress easily for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride. The closed-cell urethane material allows for smooth contact between the springs and your vehicle. And the springs act like a shock absorber to dampen road vibration.

Installed spring when it is compressed

The springs can also compress by as much as 80 percent to support a heavy rear load and to help your factory suspension bear up under the load. This evens out the weight, which levels your vehicle and ensures that your front tires are making better contact with the road. A level ride means that you have improved driving control, ensures safe headlight aim, and helps to minimize sway. The springs also support your factory suspension, which helps prevent sagging and reduces bottoming out.

The springs work independently from one another to support each side of your vehicle. This action helps to reduce body roll when you make a sharp turn. This also helps compensate for an off-center load.

Durable, Custom-Fit Springs

These microcellular urethane springs are tough. They resist abrasion, oil, salt, and UV rays that can more quickly wear out other springs, and they perform well in temperatures ranging from -25 F to 200 F (-33 C to 93 C).

SumoSprings compress vertically with minimum expansion to the sides, so they won't be damaged by nearby mechanical parts and they fit safely into tighter spots. And unlike air springs, SumoSprings require no maintenance or adjustment.

The helper springs are custom designed to fit your vehicle, and they install easily - no drilling required.

  • Height of SumoSprings Solo Helper Springs for 2016 Toyota Tacoma
I went out the warehouse and measured the 1,000 pound SumoSprings your 2016 Toyota Tacoma and they're right under 5 inches at about 4-15/16 inches. These are custom fit for your Tacoma as long as it has the factory suspension. If you've modified it at all let me know and see if we have another option that'll work for you.

  • Suspension Enhancements for a 2017 Toyota Tacoma with Firestone Airbags
I do have a suspension enhancement option for your 2017 Toyota Tacoma that is compatible with the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs part # F2407, however, the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System part # TTORTUN4L and the Roadmaster Active Suspension Kit part # RAS4514-SAT will not work. In order to use a set of suspension enhancements with your currently installed Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs, I recommend the TorkLift StableLoad Rear Suspension Upgrade part # TLA7311...

  • Is Weight Distribution Needed With Suspension Enhancement on 2018 Toyota Tacoma?
Those are very good questions and let's start with the capacities of both systems. The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-612-40 has a 500 lb capacity and SumoSprings # SSR-612-47 has a 1,000 lb capacity, which means that is the highest amount of weight that the springs will actively still help your 2018 Toyota Tacoma's suspension. Anything over that and you won't see the benefits of the system. If 3,500 lbs is the max weight of your enclosed trailer when it is loaded then your...

  • Best SumoSprings For 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD For Towing & Load in Truck Bed
Hey Mike, thanks for the question and the best SumoSprings for your 2023 Toyota Tacoma TRD for a combination of towing and a load in your truck bed are the 1,400 lb springs: - SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-612-40 The reason I like these over the 1,800 lb capacity # SSR-612-47 is because 1,400 lbs is more than enough to handle both the weight in your truck bed and the tongue weight of your trailer, and the 1,400 lb springs are also less dense, which means more cushioning...

  • SumoSprings or Timbren Suspension Enhancement For a 2017 Toyota Tacoma Pulling Car Hauler Trailer
I recommend the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TTORTUN4 over the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-612-47 for your 2017 Toyota Tacoma TRD Sport. The Timbrens have a much higher weight capacity at 6,000lbs versus the SumoSprings at 1,000lbs. This will give you a better ride level and stabilization when you are towing your car hauler. A Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System # EQ37100ET may be a better option if you only need the suspension enhancement when you are...

  • Comparing Leaf Help Springs And Jounce Springs For A 2023 Toyota Tacoma 4WD
Jounce springs will sit on the frame and come into contact with the axle as the suspension compresses. Typically the vehicle manufacturer will place a rubber-type material here to prevent the harsh bump between these two components when heavily loaded or hitting rough terrain. These manufacturer jounce bumpers are usually pretty small and only get used when the vehicle is loaded down so upgrading to larger ones like SumoSprings will have them activate sooner and provide you with more load...

  • Height of SumoSprings for 2024 Nissan Frontier
The height of the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-612-47 is 4-1/2". These are designed to have a 1/2" - 1" gap so if you have a lift you will need to measure to make sure they will fit. If the gap is more than 1" then they wouldn't work properly since the vehicle will have to sag even further before they engage. I have attached an installation video below for your reference.

  • SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs For a 2024 Nissan Frontier King Cab
You will want to select either the 1,400LB # SSR-612-40 or 1,800LB # SSR-612-47 SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs for your 2024 Nissan Frontier King Cab. The only difference between these is the amount of capacity they are capable of supporting and the color of the part itself. If you are only occasionally hauling heavy loads the lighter option would work the best for you. These will have the least affect on the quality of your ride when unloaded as well.

  • Height of SumoSprings for 2023 Toyota Tacoma
The height of the SumoSpring Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-612-47 is 4-1/2". Since you have a lift on your 2023 Toyota Tacoma you will need to measure to see if they will fit or not. There should be 1/2" - 1" gap once installed for the SumoSprings to work properly. If the space is larger that means your truck would have to sag that much more before they engage. Basically you wouldn't be getting the support you're looking for.

  • Do I Need Suspension Enhancement For My 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road?
Thanks for reaching out, Kyle. According to the online owner's manual, the 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off Road has a max towing capacity of 6,500 lbs. So based on this, yes, I think you can definitely tow a 2017 Passport Ultra Lite with a 4,400 lb dry weight. I do suggest that you consider a suspension upgrade though. Once the trailer is loaded you will likely be pushing it closer to its limit for towing. A suspension upgrade will help to keep the ride level and stable. An air bag kit like...

  • What Suspension Enhancement do You Recommend for Reducing Sag on My 2021 Toyota Tacoma?
You are definitely on the right track with the SumoSprings. For your 2021 Toyota Tacoma, I recommend using the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-612-47. The reason why is because this model of SumoSprings will provide your Tacoma with 1,800 pounds of load-leveling support compared to the 1,400 pounds of support of the # SSR-612-40. This load-leveling support will definitely help decrease the 1.5 inch sag. Also, the SumoSprings # SSR-612-47 provide progressive load...

  • Jounce Bumper Helper Spring Options for 2021 Toyota Tacoma
Some 2021 Tacoma were equipped with 3 leaves in the springs, some with 4, so you'd just need to take a quick peek at what you have to determine which Timbren kit you'll need, as I have no way to look up how your truck is equipped. For a 4WD with 4 leaves in the spring pack, use # TTORTUN4, for 3 leaves use # T72FR. For 2WD vehicles with 4 leaves, use # T62FR or # T72FR for 3 leaves. This being said, the Timbren systems offer much more support than what you'd actually need to counteract...

The SumoSprings # SSR-612-40 is the lighter option with a weight capacity of 1,400lbs. • Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 2017 Toyota Tacoma for Occasional Towing
If the loaded tongue weight of your trailer will be around 640 pounds, the better option between the two SumoSprings systems that you mentioned will be the higher-rated # SSR-612-47, which features a weight capacity of 1,000 pounds. The # SSR-612-40 that you also referenced has a weight capacity of 500 pounds so it may be a bit under-rated when hooked up to your fully loaded trailer. Both systems are confirmed to fit your 2017 Toyota Tacoma. With this in mind, any jounce style spring...

  • Recommended SumoSprings for a 2022 Toyota Tacoma 4WD

  • Recommended SumoSprings For 2016 Toyota Tacoma Carrying 1045lb Truck Bed Camper
I would be happy to help! Since you already have a 2000lb Hellwig helper leaf spring installed in your 2016 Toyota Tacoma I recommend going with the SumoSprings # SSR-612-40. These will give you an additional 1400lbs of load leveling support while carrying your 1045lb truck bed camper, and will not affect the unloaded ride of your truck so no need to worry about them being too stiff. • Recommended Sumo Springs for 2017 Toyota Tacoma with Truck Topper and Towing 4000-lbs Trailer
With the tongue weight of the trailer and the weight of the topper, the Sumo Springs # SSR-612-47 with a 1000-lbs capacity are the right choice since Sumo Springs are progressively load bearing; this means that they get stiffer as more weight is applied and really do a great job of not affecting the unloaded ride quality. The Sumo Springs are a great solution that install without any drilling required, and they'll replace your factory bumpstops, so now when you bottom out you're going to...

For your 2018 Toyota Tacoma TRD 4wd the correct Sumo Springs are the Sumo Springs Custom Solo Helper Springs # SSR-612-47, which will replace your factory bump stops with a durable microcellular urethane bump stop. • Solution for 2017 Toyota Tacoma that Has Suspension Sag When Towing
For your 2017 Toyota Tacoma the correct SumoSpring kit is the part # SSR-612-47 and not the kit you mentioned as that is for the older models. This will reduce the sag but what you might be better off with is a weight distribution system since that reduces the sag too but in doing so helps improve braking and handling as it distributes some of the tongue weight up to the front axle. The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the...

I have a solution for you, but because SuperSprings does not offer a lift spacer for the SumoSprings, using the # SSR-612-47 may not be the best solution in this case because of your lift. Instead, I recommend using the Timbren # TTORTUN4L which can be used with lift spacers like the # A25723-90AH00, which will help compensate for your 2" lift.
