Will SumoSprings Kit being Engaged Slightly Due to Weight From Topper be Issue

Updated 02/03/2026 | Published 07/08/2024

Question:

I noticed when I let down my Tacoma after installing the sumosprings they are touching the top of the bump stop and very slightly compressed. I have a topper on back which is the load. Will this constant load cause any problems with the sumosprings?

Hey Brent, I wouldn't worry as it sounds like your SumoSprings kit is doing it's job. The load in the bed of your truck is compressing the rear suspension to the point the SumoSpring is engaging and helping support the suspension just like it was designed to do. This won't cause any issues with it or your vehicle.

Hey Brent, how has your Tacoma been riding with the SumoSprings now that they’re supporting the load from your topper? Your update could make it easier for the next person setting up a similar truck.
