Of course nothing is ever going to be perfectly quiet, but at the same time these shouldnt be unbearable. Are all the gaps in the channel where the rubber strips go closed up with rubber? That is one of the top causes for loud whistling is gaps in the channel.

My roof racks by Thule are just outstanding. No regrets. I carry two kayaks up there quite frequently when were pulling our fifth wheel. Great solution to being able to take our boats along with us.
