Video Transcript for Review of Furrion RV Camera System - Backup Camera - Observation Camera - FR96NR

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at trailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at this furrion vision S wireless RV observation camera system, with the two side marker light cameras the rear marker light camera, and the five inch monitor. Now these marker light cameras right here will replace your clearance lights and the third brake light to improve your visibility and obstacle detection for your RV or camper. They'll minimize any blind spots on both sides and the rear view RV and help prevent accidents. These are DOT approved, department of transportation approved, waterproof marker lights with a detachable cover that allow easy access to replace your bulbs. And they do give you a 65 degree viewing angle.

They do have motion detection which will trigger the monitor to power on these 12 infrared led lights on the camera's housing here. It provides nighttime vision up to 39 feet. They have integrated infrared cut filtered a black year infrared light during the day to capture natural looking images. And they're a nice durable metal construction. They are dust resistant, waterproof IP 65 rated to protect against any dust and moisture.

Now, the wireless backup camera system improves your rear view visibility and obstacle detection for your RV or camper. It also minimize blind spots, help prevent accidents. The rear clearance light camera with the CLMS sensor will create a nice high quality digital video in full color. This one gives you 120 degree viewing angle and it even features a built-in microphone to pick up any audio. Again, the motion detection will trigger a monitor to power on the LCD auto offsetting lets you set your monitor to power off after 10, 20, or 30 seconds.

The eight infared led lights around the camera lens to provide nighttime vision up to 16 feet has an integrated infrareds cut filter. I'll sort of blocked the infrared light during the day to capture natural looking images. Now, the monitor itself has a five inch full color LCD touchscreen monitor, shows a nice mirror image for precise view from the driver's perspective offers auto-dimming anti-glare screen to let you view to display in any lighting. When you do turn it on it'll have rear assist marker lines which will show the distance from other objects. Has brightness, color, contrast, and image orientation that can be easily adjusted.

Does have a speaker back here which will project audio sent from your cameras and you can also use a quad screen displayed, it'll show up the four camera angles simultaneously. The built-in digital transmitter eliminates interference from other devices, offers high quality wireless uninterrupted video for up to 492 feet away. It does offer two different mounting options. Allow you to display this monitor the table top Mount which is this one right here. You can pop your monitor right onto this ball socket design has the four non-slip pads to sit on your dashboard or you can use the suction cup, which I have installed already. Again, that ball just pops into there. It gives you a nice, you can adjust it any direction. It'll secure to your windshield, or even to your dashboard, if you want to attach it down just like that to your dashboard or spin it around like that for your windshield. And again, it will mount pretty much you can see where it rotates any direction you want. The suction cup here is what'll secure it. These are durable metal construction. It is dust resistant and waterproof. Again it's IP 65 rated protects against dust and moisture. Very simple installation. Minimal drilling is required, A mounting hardware is included. Now this system can be used as a backup camera or for observation, if you wire to your reverse lights, it'll give you the backup camera. If your wire to your running lights, it'll give you observation. A few specs on this, we'll start with the side marker or the side camera marker lights. Overall dimension is about five and a half inches wide, tallest point is three and one quarter inches tall. Total depth of about one in five eighths inches deep. The rear camera, it's a little bit longer; It's about six and five eights inches wide, at the tallest point, not including the antennae here, it's about two and a quarter inches tall. Total depth is about two inches deep. And then the monitor itself is going to be five and five eights inches wide, three and three quarter inches tall. Total depth on it is only about one in three sixteenths inches deep. And the resolution on both the monitor and the cameras, that's 720 by 480. Does come with some nice instruction manuals that'll describe how they install, how they operate but that should do it for the review on the furrion vision S wireless RV observation camera system with the two side-marker light cameras the rear marker light camera and the five inch monitor..

Have not been out on the road yet but the install was easy even for a novice like me. My reflection 5th wheel was prewired so it was a plug and play for the rear camera. For the side cameras I used the two screws from the previous light. I put both screws in the top holes, (one behind the camera) as that seemed to secure it better then bothe screws not behind the camera. Instructions were a bit limited(or I didn't read them) on the side camera sync but I pressed enough buttons to figure it out. Picture looks great. Do watch for obstructions such as awning supports which will limit view. I also used silicone to keep the water out.

Comments
I find that i use the rear camera much more than the side cameras so i question whether i would have bought the side cameras again. The rear camera would cut in and out on the highway so I added a longer antenna and you have to make sure both antennas are straight up and down to get the best signal. All in all i get a good view behind the 35ft trailer and would buy the rear again.

Review from a similar Vision S Wireless in RV Camera System

the QR code worked for the product but I needed clarification so went to a [online video] site. There I was able to understand the very simple process. I modified the pedestal stand so it would fit in the center depression of my dash board on my 2020 Ram 1500. The system synced up almost instantly with the camera and once installed in the rear mount was able to secure a very clear rear camera picture. I can remove the monitor stand and secure it from view when not in use. The tiny screws for the rear camera can be a challenge glad extras were available as I lost two.

This camera system is a must-have! I had it installed for me so I can't speak as to ease of install, but they didn't mention any issues. I have never had an issue with connectivity. My trailer is 21' and there is about 33 feet from the monitor in the truck to the camera on the back. Nighttime view is great (see picture.) I travel solo and it lets me back up without a spotter and without having to GOAL every foot and a half to see where I am. Knowing where traffic is around me on the road is a a huge safety benefit. It helped me avoid an accident on the freeway last summer. I had just passed a slow moving vehicle and was signaling to go back into the right lane when a low sports car decided to pass that vehicle as well without waiting for me to get back over. It darted around it and went between it and my trailer, cutting them off and passing me on the right. He was completely hidden in all mirrors and windows due to being so low and in my blind spots, but I spotted his movement in the camera and stayed in my lane until he flew past. Another couple seconds and I wouldn't have been able to correct back. If it wasn't for the camera, I believe there would have been an accident. The hardest thing to get used to is the reverse view. I wish CW had done the step to change mirroring the view. When I see a car on the right in the monitor, I have to remember they are really on the left of my rig. Apparently there is a way to flip this to normal view but I haven't been able to do it yet. The monitor plugs into the cigarette lighter in the cab of the truck and I purchased a vehicle-specific mount for it from [online store]. I put an XL Scosche magnet on the back of the monitor. And a Scosche magnetic holder on the mount. It holds well through all seasons and is easy to take off when not in use. I would definitely purchase this again and have recommended it to others.

The installation was fairly easy. The trailer came prepped for the rear camera so, it was attached and linked. The side cameras involved a little work due to being close to the pass-through doors. They went on with a bit of cutting of the trailer skin. The problem is the right side trailer camera is reading that it's the left side and visa versa for the right. They are both installed correctly, facing back and the pairing button on the bottom. Also when the two side cameras paired they caused the rear camera to unpair. I re-paired the rear and now the right side ( left camera ) is unpaired. I've emailed Furrion for answers to my situation.

Bought the Furrion Camera system a year ago and it is truly a great item for monitoring what you're towing. With a 33 foot trailer, It makes lane changing much easier as well as when backing into tight campsites. Item was an easy install on the trailer as well as placement of the monitor within the tow vehicle. Highly recommend this to anyone towing a trailer or another vehicle to monitor what is going on behind you.

I have the camera on the back of a travel trailer. Having a view of the road behind the trailer is indispensible and I am amazed that they are not legally required. I can also see my bikes on the back rack. The only reason I downgrade it one star is because the suction cup for the monitor in the truck often falls off the windshield.

Comments
Good camera. I gave up on the suction cup and prop the monitor up on the console, which is not ideal. It is almost impossible to see with sunglasses on.

Rv was pre set up for this style camera. Installed as fast as i could connect a wire and four screws. Special note if you have that set up, you need your trailer connect to tow vehicle with running lights on to pair if it requires pairing, mine didn’t require pairing. If i had one critique it would be to learn from Ring Doorbell. The attachment screws could have a special style screw bit so that someone with a screw driver can’t take it, especially for the price.

Installed this on a new Grand Design Solitude fifth wheel which is prewired for the rear camera. The installation was super easy and took just a few minutes. The monitor in the truck gives an exceptional picture (with several options - read the instructions!) and clear and loud audio. My 7" monitor barely fits on the dashboard, and is easily seen. Yes, it's pricey, but maybe even worth it! One last thing: etrailer's service was exceptional. The unit was delivered several days prior to their estimate! I'm already making a list of more stuff to order from etrailer! Thanks!

I've really enjoyed my Furion Back-Up camera that is mounted on my camper. It sure has helped in backing situations and when I'm traveling down the road.

Comments
After having our Furion Back-UP camera for a year, I can truly say it has been a great purchase. Although it helps when backing into campsites, the greatest benefit Ive found is just monitoring what happens from the rear when Im traveling down the highway. The camera is still functioning well and we are very happy we made this purchase.

Because our Jayco Eagle fifth wheel was prewired, installation was quick and easy. The one issue I have is we bought the 7” screen and it takes up a lot of the windscreen if I attach it with the included suction cup. Instead I lay it on the dash using the desk stand. Along with hand signals from outside the rig, we use the camera to look for any obstacles behind the rig. It also comes in very handy on the road to help ensure we’re clear if passing another vehicle.

Camera works as advertised. Wired camera into running lights 5th wheel. Took about 45 min to layout, drill, pull wire, caulk, and mount. I did install 3mm Diameter Snap on Ferrite Core Bead Choke Ring Cord RFI EMI Noise Suppressor Filter for USB / Audio / Video Cable Power Cord on both camera and receiver. Receiver took about 20 min to install. I routed wires nicely, add choke rings. I have 4 bars running 60 mph. Great purchase and very pleased.

Comments
Camera and receivers still working great. Only issue is antenna broke on camera. Purchased aftermarket router antenna 18”. Still have 4 bars.

Delivery time was quick, was here in a few days. The camera system works great. The setup and installation was easy. Watching the videos that are available on the website is very helpful. Very pleased with my purchasing experience. I always check ET first. Especially knowing that if I find it at a lower price you will meet that price plus 10%.

Comments
I have had the Furrion Vision for a year. It has performed great. It has made backing my 5th wheel easy. Its well worth the investment. I would certainly recommend it.

I like it a lot I double a travel trailer and a atv trailer it helps me keep a eye on the trailer behind the camper and is great for changing lanes. The only thing I would do different is get the bigger monitor. Thanks

Review from a similar Vision S Wireless in RV Camera System

this camera is great. installed in minutes (rig pre wired ) and easy to use. good for the road to see jerks who crowd in the back, cars passing (although the refresh rate would be better if faster) and good for gas stations and camp sites. would recommend without hesitation. And, George and the team are top notch as usual in getting the buyer into the right product. this is a really good outfit to do business with

Comments
Still working great. Recently used it to back into a tight barn for storage and the infra red feature was awesome. Might consider an upgrade if the refresh rate was substantially upped, but i am satisified. Recommend the product and etrailer.

Haven’t had long but I really like it, bought this to go on my enclosed trailer because I go into areas that I need to turn around which requires backing up and some are really tight and the way I turn I can’t see what is behind me, this helps alot

The Furrion 7” Monitor and rear view camera was a great addition to our fifth wheel and truck. Really love it when we are driving in traffic through big cities and on major highways. Let’s us keep an eye on traffic behind us, so no surprises! The camera connects quickly to the screen and so far has never lost its connection while in use. I did drop one star in the rating due to it’s high cost and also the screen washes out in bright sunlight. If I had it to do over again, I also probably would have gone with the smaller 5” screen. The 7” is pretty bulky and takes up a lot of real estate on our dashboard. That said, we do like the Furrion unit and would recommend to others.

Review from a similar Vision S Wireless in RV Camera System

We purchased the Furrion FOS43TASF to use as an observation camera while towing our new 2018 26' Jayco Jay Flight travel trailer. Our Jayco came equipped with a pre-wired mount for the Furrion camera. The pre-wired black female cord for the camera was present but someone at the factory forgot to wire it to power, so when I plugged in the camera, there was no juice... I removed the center clearance light on the back of the trailer, used the supplied power cord and to feed in/splice in from the clearance light. Installation only took about 15 minutes. We already made our first trip this season and the camera worked wonderful. Great picture, no delays, very happy being able to see what's in the back and coming along the sides. We didn't use the monitor mount supplied with the Furrion, instead we used a vent phone mount I had for my phone that worked perfectly. This is our second and the best observation camera for towing a trailer we've experienced. The first one was another brand on different travel trailer we just sold. Our experience with that camera was poor picture quality, delays and blackouts. We definitely would recommend the Furrion FOS43TASF.

Review from a similar Vision S Wireless in RV Camera System

We received our Furrion Observation Camera, FOS43TASF, quickly as advertised. Our camera arrived with no damage. Installation was fast and easy on our 2018, Grand Design, Imagine, 2600RB, plug and play with the existing mount. It took maybe 20 - 30 minutes at the most to install, pair and make minor adjustments. The camera and viewer paired immediately when power was turned on. The camera turned on when the trailer parking lights were turned on. Positioned the camera so the spare tire could be seen on the observation screen to give a point of reference to the back of the camper. Received a strong signal on the pairing. We haven't driven the camper on the road yet to give a review on the workings of the the unit but, don't expect any problems. Should be a good safety feature to know what is behind us when towing. Very happy with our purchase and would recommend this product. This product from etrailer was the least expensive price I could find while researching price points. Thank you etrailer.

We finally got the camera installed on the back of our RV. I was so happy with this purchase. It was so simple and easy to install and link up with the viewer screen. I love it. We have a prewired mount on the back of our RV so we easily took off the dummy mount and screwed in the camera and mount. Plugged in the viewer screen in the cab of our truck and done done. Great product and easy installation instructions.

Review from a similar Vision S Wireless in RV Camera System

This rear observation system was exactly what I needed to give me some eyes in the back of my towable trailer. The system communicates with a 4 bars of strength using a wireless signal between the camera, located at the back of my 24 foot long (2401RG Minnie Winnebago) trailer, and the monitor mounted in the cab of my Ford F150 XLT. The installation was easy and only took about an hour at most. I located the two wires feeding the center clearance light near the top of the trailer and through a new drilled hole just below the light I was able to feed in/splice in, the camera wires to get the power the camera needed. (Tip. Before this I used a pair of 6V batteries in series to get temporary power to the camera to ensure good signal back to the monitor in the truck and that a good rear view was possible from the intended mounting spot). Now I can see from the trailer's back bumper to about 35 feet behind on the road. As usual the Etrailer team was helpful and the order arrived quickly and correctly. Great Job Julie H. for the last minute assist to correct my order.

I just received the Furrion Vision S Back-up camera with the 7 " monitor. The quality looks very good. I plugged everything into the cab of my pick up. Everything seams to be working fine. Unfortunately we are in the middle of winter here in Washington state. When the weather warms up, I'll put the camera on my trailer. Then I'll write the rest of this review

We bought this camera for our Vibe camper that was outfitted for a camera. We used it for the first time on 4-16-21 and love it! We can tell if there are cars behind us while driving and now we don’t scream at each other when trying to back our camper into a site because he can see what is behind him, lol. We bought the 7” screen but realized we probably could have gotten the smaller one, but that is just preference, either way we love it.

I needed a way to see my Indian motorcycle on a trailer behind my 40’ fifth wheel. I had Fords system when I bought my new truck, but there was much more wiring than I wanted to tackle and I was hoping for a non wired system. I bought this with my fingers crossed. Very easy installation of less than an hour and the results were what I wanted

After replacing the prewired Furrion connection and mount (the camera had a different connector and did not fit the mount on the trailer), the rest of the instillation went without issue. The camera and monitor connect quickly, the signal is strong and the image is clear and crisp. Have not had a chance to put the system to actual use due to weather (snow). Hope to try it very soon.

Everything I needed to add to my trailer. Even though the trailer came already prepped for the Furrion equipment, everything I would have needed was there. I had to find out how my travel trailer was pre-wired to feed power to the camera. My trailer was wired to the lights circuit, but did not connect with the automatic light setting, I had to switch on the lights. Can't wait to try it out on my next trip and return parking. Crossing my fingers.

Comments
After 1st year it is great. I have a hard turn to back into my yard from a busy street. Able to get it done in normally 1 try. Thumbs up.
