Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, and SUVs - not approved for fifth wheels, motorhomes, or towable campers

The Yakima HoldUp is a premium, tray-style bike rack that lets you carry 4 bikes using your vehicle's hitch. This rack is specifically designed to carry bikes with big tires and wide handlebars, but it will carry just about any bike, including those with wheels from 20" to 29", carbon frames, disc brakes, thru axles, or full suspensions.

Removable 2-Bike Add-On

The rack includes a 2-bike add-on that installs easily onto the base rack. When it's not needed, simply remove the add-on with the included special tool and throw it in your trunk or leave it at home. To install the add-on on your HoldUp, simply remove the endcap from the bike rack base, slide the add-on's shank into the hole on the bike rack, and secure the shank with a bolt that comes with the add-on. The add-on includes a safety kit with 2 red LED lights and a flag. The lights and flag ensure that the rack is visible to other vehicles on the road.

Wheel-Mount Design for Easy Bike Loading

The HoldUp is easy to load, even if your bikes have monster wheels. The deep, contoured front wheel cradles accommodate just about any wheel out there, and the pivoting arms with StrongArm technology ensure that your bikes are held firmly in place.

To load a bike, simply place your front wheel in the holder, rotate the pivoting arm up and over the wheel, and press down firmly on the ratcheting hook. To release the hook, simply press the built-in red button and slide the hook up and off your wheel.

Large rear wheel holders allow the HoldUp to accommodate a wide variety of bike wheelbases. These wheel holders pivot front to back, adjusting automatically to your wheel size - no need for sliding and tightening. Secure the wheels in place with the ratcheting straps built into each holder.

Mounting bikes by the wheels helps prevent any scratches or scuffs to the paint. The ratcheting hooks are padded, however, so they won't mar your wheels. And the pivot mechanisms in the arms are overbuilt to ensure they keep functioning smoothly over a lifetime of hard use.

Fully Adjustable Bike Trays

The wheel trays on the HoldUp are fully adjustable to ensure that you have all the space you need when mounting bikes with mammoth handlebars, such as a 29er. To adjust a wheel tray, loosen the 4 bolts where the tray attaches to the rack base and slide the tray left or right to achieve the desired spacing. Retighten the bolts and you're ready to roll with optimum handlebar clearance and no fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.

Complete Security

The HoldUp has a cable lock built into the end of each pivoting arm. These cables loop through your bike frames and attach to posts on the bike rack arms to secure your bikes in place. The cables store in the arms when not in use.

The rack also has a HitchLock hitch pin that allows you to lock the rack to your vehicle. The threaded pin also works as an anti-rattle device to reduce noise and movement of the rack when it's mounted in your trailer hitch receiver.

The cable locks and HitchLock hitch pin include keyed-alike Same Key System (SKS) lock cores. These cores can be swapped out to make all your Yakima products keyed alike.

Tilting Design and Compact Storage

The HoldUp has a spring-loaded pin at the base that lets you fold the rack up against the rear of your vehicle when it's not in use. The same pin can also be used to tilt the rack down 20 degrees for easier bike loading. The tilting feature can also be used when the is rack fully loaded, so you can gain easier access to your vehicle's rear cargo area without unloading your bikes.

This rack stores more compactly than similar platform-style racks. First rotate the front wheel holders inward and tilt the rear wheel holders inward, then rotate the pivot arms down and use the ratcheting hooks to secure the arms to the rear wheel holders. Once the arms are in place, pull the pin and fold the rack up against your vehicle.

Video Transcript for Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Yakima hold up platform style four bike rack for two inch hitches. Part number y02443-2. This platform style four bike rack is going to allow you to carry a whole family of bikes on the back of your vehicle. It's going to work with a wide variety of bikes. As you can see here, we've got a mountain bike, a road bike, a woman's bike, and a kids bike. One of it's best features is it has the ability to tilt away, even with all four bikes loaded, so we can gain access to our rear hatch.

It's a good idea to get an extra set of hands. We'll have one person pull out on the red pin, and then one person at the back. Then as you can see, we've got plenty of room to remove any cargo, gear, groceries, anything we might have with us on our trip. You'll just need to be sure to grab that same extra set of hands to put it back in place. Just raise it up until it snaps in.

From the center of our hitch pin hole to the end of our rack is about fifty-six and a half inches. Because of this length, Yakima has added a few safety features. Here we have a red flag to increase visibility, and here we have two battery operated lights to increase visibility at night. They operate with two triple A batteries, which are not included. We've gone ahead and removed three bikes so we can go over additional features. Our bike is held in place without any frame contact.

In the front we have our ratcheting wheel hook that puts down pressure on our wheel into the front wheel holder. The wheel hook will accommodate tire sizes between fourteen and twenty-nine inches, and the wheel holder will accommodate tire widths up to two and a half inches. Our rear tire is held in place by a ratcheting strap. In the rear wheel cradle pivots, so we can accommodate different size wheel bases. The wheel trays are adjustable from side to side with the included tool.

This will help for better bike spacing to prevent bike to bike contact. When not in use, all of our components fold flat. We'll just fold up our front wheel holder, bring our hook over, raise up our rear cradle, and back here we have a keeper for our hook which keeps everything in place. You can see that keeper here on the front wheel hook. Then we can fold the whole bike rack up against the vehicle for compact storage. Simply pull out on that lever, raise it up until it snaps in. This would be ideal for parallel parking or pulling in a garage. As you can see that flag will not be an issue with most vehicles. The whole bike rack is made out of a solid steel construction with a glossy black powder coat finish, so it's going to be stylish and it's going to resist rust and corrosion. It features a sixty pound per bike weight capacity, though you want to be sure not to exceed two hundred pounds total, and it has a limited life time warranty. Another great feature is that if you wish to only carry two bikes, the rear two bike section can be removed by simply removing this anti-rattle bolt here. Let's not forget Yakima's signature bottle opener, so after a hard ride you can celebrate with your buds. Now that we know the features, I'll show you how to go ahead and get it installed. We've got our two inch receiver here today, so let's go ahead and place our shank and then line up our pinholes. I'd say that looks pretty good. We'll take our included anti-rattle bolt, and we're going to thread that through here on the passenger side. Once we get that threaded hand tight, we'll take our included tool and tighten it down. Now the nice thing about the anti-rattle bolt is it's going to help reduce a lot of play and rattle within our hitch in our bike rack. You can see without that being tight there's a lot of play there. Once we get it tightened up, we'll give it another shake. With that tightened up, you can see it's actually shaking the whole car. We'll place on our included lock, lock it up, and then put on our dust cap. Now we get ready to load up our bikes, we'll need to lower it down into the platform position. Just come down here to this red know, go ahead and squeeze it to unlock it, and then pull out. We'll lower it down until it snaps in. Now to load up our bikes, we'll first need to raise up our front wheel holder and then we'll need to raise our our wheel hook. We'll squeeze in on the button, raise it out, and then all the way out in front of the wheel holder. We'll also want to be sure and undo our rear wheel strap. To release it you can simply press up on the red button there and pull the strap out. It's always a good idea to load up the heaviest bike first, so I'll bring in the front wheel. I'll set that in place first and then I'll bring around my rear wheel. Then we can raise up the wheel hook. Now that's going to come right in front of our breaks, or our fork, whatever comes first. Then we can just lower it down. Once it makes contact give it a good push. For our rear wheel strap, we'll just pull that between our spokes, feed it down through, get it half way tight, and then we can use the ratchet mechanism to get it the rest of the way. We've gone ahead and loaded up three more bikes, the only thing left to do is to run our integrated cable lock. There's one for each bike, giving a total of four. We'll just go through secure point on the bike and back to itself and then we can lock it up. With all four bikes secured, let's go ahead and take it out on our test course and see how it performs. Here at our test course, let's first go into our slalom. This is going to show side to side action, such as going around corners or evasive maneuvering. Then onto our alternating speed bumps, this is going to show a twisting action such as going over potholes or uneven pavement. Then finally onto our solid speed bumps. This is going to show an up and down action, such as pulling in or out of a driveway, or out of a parking lot. That's going to complete our look at the Yakima hold up platform style four bike rack for two inch hitches. Part number Y02443-2.

Seems like a solid rack. Really heavy and bulky which I was not expecting. You essentially have to mount the 2 bike rack to the car then slip in the 2 bike add-on. Lifting the 4 bike rack as assembled is doable but triccky. Still much better for my beloved bikes than the 4 bike cradle racks which beat the bikes up as they rub each other. Warning: the nut in the receiver part of the rack had steel shot beads stuck in the grease so I couldn't thread the bolt in. I had to disassemble the nut holder and pick the steel beads out with a dental pick. 412255

In one word: AWESOME! Not only is the Yakima rack awesome, but the delivery was lightning fast and the purchase experience was easy! I bought the rack with the additional add-on and they were easy to install and use! Definitely recommend! 162453

I own the older version and it has worked great for me. When I was considering moving up to a 4-bike rack, I decided to purchase the new version instead of the add-on to my rack. The new version had the 2 main features I was looking for: individual cable locks in each arm and adjustable trays. Ordering and shipping were easy and fast. Pre-order questions were answered quickly by etrailer.com staff. I look forward to using the full capacity of this rack when carpooling to upcoming races and the Chihuahuan Desert Bike Fest in Lajitas, TX this coming February. My only complaint is that I wish the SKS cores for all of the locks were matched so I would only need a single key instead of 2 keys. 232688

I ordered the bike rack around 11pm on Saturday and it was delivered to me the following Thursday free of charge. The two boxes were in perfect condition and so was the rack. It was very easy to put together. I had read about some other customers having some trouble with the assembly but for me everything went together correctly and quickly. I took my Fuji traverse 1.1 for a test run on it around my town. It takes about 10 seconds to secure the bike to the rack. The bike was held in place very well and I’m looking forward to using it to transport my bikes back and forth from Rhode Island to New Hampshire this summer. It appears to be a very sturdy and well built rack. Too this point I am extremely happy with this purchase and I will give some more feedback after I have taken it on a few trips with all four bikes on it. 511045

This is a great bike carrier. It is attractive and well built. It seems to be more heavy duty than the Thule two bike carrier I have, Yakima designed this four bike carrier very well and I am looking forward to lots of trips with the option of two or four bikes. The only problem I incurried was with the bolt that holds the carrier to the two inch hitch. The threads on the bolt and the threads on the nut inside did not easily tighten down. 419130

Looks good. I just assembled it but have not used it yet. I did find that the included wrench does not work on my Chevy 2500 pickup. There is not enough clearance for swinging the wrench. The large hole needs to be on top. Also, I am missing a couple parts in the box but I am wondering if they were eliminated. Waiting for a response from Yakima. Looking forward for having it for RAGBRAI next year. 284548

The bike rack is awesome, well built and easy to assemble. The only issue that i have is that the product description says that these are suppose to have ratcheting straps to secure the tires and mine most definitely DOES NOT. Its not a big deal but still. 637274

Comments

Yakima recently made an update to the strap assembly on the wheel tray of the HoldUp. The old mechanism could stick and jam occasionally, so Yakima improved it. Well be updating our product description photos and videos shortly.

Very sturdy. Holds bikes in place with minimal movement. The two bikes don't touch and the rack doesn't touch the frame. I had been putting my bikes in the back of my SUV. They leaned on one another. This rack also clears up the back so I can carry passengers. Etrailer was extremely fast with shipping. Make sure you order what you want. The order will be processed and shipped before you can blink. I was extremely pleased with the fantastic communication and monitoring of the package. Great company. 22058

The Yakima Holdup 2 Bike Hitch Mount works as advertised and from the product instructions had absolutely no trouble with the installation on a 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland Summit. The mount is substantial, sturdy and simple. One comment for "etrailer.com"...DON'T CHANGE ANYTHING. The entire online experience was flawless. Your website was so easy, very informative and communication was "above and beyond" from searching, product research, explanations, ordering, email followups with order submitted, received, shipped, tracking (both on your site with a map of where the product currently is located and UPS tracking info) and delivery. I can't come up with any suggestions. I will definitely shop etrailer.com again...THANK YOU!!! 32420

Received in good condition and quicker than promised. Product was easy to assemble and fitted to vehicle well. Loaded bikes easily and adjusted tray positions to avoid bikes coming in contact with each other (none come in contact with vehicle). Tilt down feature is great and allows access into back of vehicle. Test drove around neighborhood and bikes only moved slightly. Unloaded bikes easily and folded up carrier and drove around like that - no problems. Included cable locks are good but can't reach back tires, so need to buy another cable lock to fully secure the bikes - this is the only reason to downgrade one step from Excellent. 181598

Great product!! I already had one of these bike racks I had been using for over a year and then someone rear-ended my car. the impact crushed the rack, but the rack did a great job protecting my bike so I only had minor damage on the bike. I ordered the exact same bike rack from etrailer.com and it was delivered almost immediately even with regular free shipping. 208848

Excellent product. Well made. I am investing in a front wheel tie down to wrap around the wheel chock. It would be great if you included one similar to the one currently on the rear wheel chock. 83970

I have a 2004 Land Rover Discovery II with a rear tire mounting on the back gate. I do have a 2 receiver, I need a 4 bike holdup trailer hitch. Will the 2 receiver support the weight and will the unit clear the rear monstrous spare tire in the back?

-- comment by: Garry C - 09/08/2013

Check the owners manual for the weight capacity of the hitch. Look for the tongue weight figure. As long as the rack and all the bikes combined weigh less than that figure, you are good to go. Whether or not it will clear the spare requires some measuring. I have added a link that shows you how to measure your clearance. Each of out bike racks that we list will have this clearance measurement in the description.

The bike rack works as advertised, but the powder coating on the 2" steel was to thick and got stuck in the hitch. After an hour of trying to get it out and a call to a friend, I belt sanded the powder coating and it is all is good now. 546130

This bike carrier meets all of our expectations. The instructions were easy to follow except for one glitch. After using the carrier the first time, I discovered that I reversed the two trays. They are identical construction; the only difference is the YAKIMA sticker which ended up upside down. The instructions do not clearly state anything regarding which tray to mount first. However the illustration does show which one should be first - I didn't catch it. Correcting it was very easy - so all is well. 291026

Review from a similar Yakima HoldUp in Hitch Bike Racks

I purchased the Yakima bike rack because of the companies' reputation that for making quality products, and the informative video presented by the staff at etrailer. This carrier is everything they claim it is. It's very heavy duty, easy to mount and secure all types of bikes, whether they be BMX, mountain or road bikes, and, most importantly, rides so smoothly behind the vehicle (due to the well engineered arm that goes into the receiving hitch) that you forget it's there. I truly believe many a bike will wear out before this rack wears out. I would not hesitate to recommend this carrier to anyone who serious about quality and value. It may be pricier than some of the competitors, but most of the time you get what you pay for. Thanks also to the people at etrailer for ranking the Yakima so highly and for how well it was packaged for shipping. 330008

This is the first time that I've used etrailer and I'm impressed with the customer service. Molly was very helpful in helping me to place may order and follow-up with the status. I had found a lower price on the web and the etrailer team quickly refunded 110% to my credit card with no hassle. Shipping was quicker than quoted by one day. The product, Yakima Holdup 2, is perfect for our two Pedego Interceptor ebikes. Easy to load and unload and definitely can see the quality. I've always used Yakima and this product does not disappoint. Fits perfect on my Nissan Titan with 2" tow receiver. 471618

Review from a similar Yakima HoldUp in Hitch Bike Racks

I purchased a Pedego electric bike for Debera for her birthday. Our old rack wasn't built for the weight of the Pedego. After checking on line, I seen that the Yakima HoldUp 2 was adequate for the amount of weight we had to deal with. We placed an order sunday night an by tuesday afternoon we had our new rack. I have a Toyota 4Runner, which was not on the list of vehicles that would except this rack. After trying to install the rack, I could see that the spare tire is right up against the back side of the receiver on the vehicle. I did a slight modification of cutting 3/4 inch. off the backside of the racks 2X2 inch. male portion, allowing the rack to slide in far enough to let the racks locking pin to be inserted and screw in place, holding the rack very snug. The slight modification in which I did, did not hinder the structural integrity of the unit, what so ever. We have gone a total of four rides with the new rack an have been very pleased with its performance. The rack holds tight to the vehicle, the bikes have very little movement, the single key locking system is convenient. So to sum it up, we are very pleased with your service and the service of the product in which we have purchased from you, 5 stars all the way! 131140

Excellent service from etrailer. The bike rack was easy to set up. He still having used it, but so far so good. I also got a hitch which I was able to install on my SUV on my own. Both items were shipped very quickly and arrived as expected. Very useful and informative videos on etrailer’s website for the hitch installation specific to my car. 467757

Entirely disagree with the light enough comment- I purchased the 2 2 version and it has to weigh the most awkward 125 lbs Ive ever carried. Pay the extra $$ and get the KUAT aluminum version. Makes it even more of a PITA when trying to lift it up to vertical. Takes two people and cannot expect my wife and 7 yr old to manhandle it. Enginerds should have used a coil spring to assist with the lift. Also- after owning for 8 months, theres significant pooled corrosion i.e. orangered liquid oozes from every nook/cranny after a rain. They clearly did not protect the interior and expect that very soon the powdercoating will give way to flaking leafs of corroded metal. A huge shame for something that set me back so much $$$.KUAT- lighter and wont rust!

I spent nearly $800 for the 2 up with plus 2. Light enough, maybe if you only use the 2 bike version, it weighs over 50 lbs. I have the older grey 2 up along with the 2 plus making it hold 4 bikes. Combined they weigh about 100 lbs. No way one person can put the receiver in the hole. Very difficult for one person to raise up the unit from horizontal also. Two different size wrenches needed to take on and off bike as I have to remove the plus 2 first, 34 wrench then a 15/16 is needed on hitch. The plus 2 also does not come with a lock to secure it to the 2 up or a cable to lock the bikes to the rack. You will need to purchase them separately, another $50. I have also had two of the arms fail in a little over a year now, they have a lifetime warrantee but that gets old replacing them.Rack does hold bikes very good, but I am not happy overall with my purchase. Other models out there for this kind of money take a look.

Received our bike rack on 2nd day as promised, put it together in 11/2 hrs, loaded our electric bikes & took off for the weekend. It is very sturdy &easy to operate thanks to the video on line. With the tilt down option I will be able to load my bike which is heavier than most being a pedal assist electric bike. 97418

Very high quality rack. The assembly of the rack from the box amounted to installing just four bolts to the two cross arms. The ratchet front wheel locking arms work very easy to support the bike in an upright position. The folding feature works great to store by hanging it on a wall in the garage with just two homemade wooden brackets for support. 41568

Review from a similar Yakima HoldUp in Hitch Bike Racks

Just got the Yakima HoldUp 2 Bike Rack for 2" Hitches , easy to assemble, installation easy on vehicle. A quality product. Threaded bolt that goes through the receiver is a little difficult, included wrench wouldn't work, not enough room for it to get on the hex bolt. Used a ratchet wrench. A regular pin or a locking one would be better. 292852

Review from a similar Yakima Holdup in Hitch Bike Racks

Delivery of product was very quick. This was a seamless transaction. I had tons of questions about a variety of products prior to making a purchase from eTrailer and I called them for assistance to answer all these questions. They were not pushy and extremely helpful. Made me think if they were going the extra mile for someone who has yet to purchase a product, I figured their customer service must be just as good or better. Now about the rack. I mounted it on a 2006 Subaru Outback. Putting it together out of box is a two person job, one person to hold the bike mounts to the hitch frame while the screws are inserted. My thumb still hurts, is swolllen and bruised, from trying to do this solo. Other than that, easy to put together and install onto vehicle. I have yet to take it off the hitch, but I gather that it will be a bit hefty, since the box was very heavy. I would recommend making sure you have an adjustable 1 inch adjustable wrench since the one Yakima includes was very difficult to use to secure rack to hitch. Also recommend getting the HitchLock with your order. Lastly, find some wire or string to tie around the safety clip to the hitch since I see this getting lost very easily. I at first put my two kids' 14 inch bikes on the rack, not as secure looking as I would like, but a few sinch straps will make me feel better for a long trip. The wheelbase on the kids' bikes are not long enough to reach the sinch strap wheel wells. Their rear tires rest on the rack frame. I will probably only use the rack, after seeing these two kids' bikes on it, with our Trek Pure, Electra Townie, and mountain bike (just to give you an idea what I am working with) until the kids grow into 16 or bigger wheel size bikes. Until then, the kiddies bikes will go on my roof rack or in the trunk. When I put on both the Pure and the Townie on the rack, it really was as easy as the videos show and how every says it is. While driving, it looked very secure with minimal play or movement. I worry about the screws loosening up over time, so a check up every couple months should probably be in order to make sure they are secure. I am considering using LockTite on the bolts for piece of mind, but I first want to see what Yakima and eTrailers says about using it on where the rack mounts secure to the hitch mount. Overall, the product does what I need it to and so far, does it well. 48270

Review from a similar Yakima HoldUp in Hitch Bike Racks

This is a great rack and extremely well made. The consumer assembly is only the two cross arms with two bolts each. I debated between this and a similar Thule. The cable with integrated lock and the lockable hitch pin sold me on this one. I have two K2 29'ers and they fit well in the tire saddles. The pivot arm locks down tight on the front wheel as does the strap on the rear wheel making the bikes are very stable for traveling. The large threaded hitch pin dampen all the slop in the hitch receiver. The only con I have is the 20 degree fold down does not allow my 2009 Town & Country rear hatch to fully open. This may not be a problem with other vehicles. For all the pros on this rack I can live with the con. 64381

Review from a similar Yakima HoldUp in Hitch Bike Racks

I m very happy with our Yakima bike carrier. Very easy to install, it only took me 15 min. Instructions are simple and it looks great. I tried our bikes on and off and it is fast, also feels great not needed to lift them up to the roof of the car as our previous carrier. The only reason for me to give 4 stars is that I have 29er mtb with in a large frame (19.5') and rocks a bit back and forth as its frame seems almost to big for the rack, I will use and extra strap (not included with the carrier) on the front wheel to solve the problem. Easy. Can't wait for our next bike trip! As per the team at etrailer: they deserve a full 5 stars! Extremely well organised with excellent communication. I will definitely look them up again for my next buy and recommend them with no hesitation. Good job guys. 660494

Review from a similar Yakima HoldUp in Hitch Bike Racks

We have had this Yakima Holdup hitch bike rack for a year now and found it was shipped quickly, installed easily, and is handy to use on the back of our 2014 Grand Cherokee. We did have one bad screw head while assembling it and Yakima sent us a screw kit with no charge also quickly. No other problems. It seems to be quite heavy duty and should hold up well. The bikes are held on tight and do not sway. For this vehicle, you do have to tilt it back a little to open the tail gate. That has not been a problem. Label me a happy camper. 658528

Review from a similar Yakima HoldUp in Hitch Bike Racks

Bike rack is solid and easy to assemble. The inclusion of the hitch pin lock is a nice bonus! It will handle 29'ers with no issue. The built in wheel cable locks are nice but too short so you can only lock the front wheel (the rest of the bike can be easily removed). Overall, this is a great bike rack. etrailer.com was on their game (as usual) with best price and free shipping. The item arrived a day early which was nice. I've purchased 2 hitches and a bike rack and will continue to purchase from etrailer. The best in the business. 652223

Review from a similar Yakima HoldUp in Hitch Bike Racks

The 1st Yakama roof mounted bike rack I purchased lasted well over 15 years. I gave it up because the model didn't fit my new ride. This review is for a rear, hitch mounted, 2 bike system. Right out of the box the rack looked great. Making sure my bikes aren’t stolen when I travel is a big issue for me. So I made sure the rack locks into the hitch receiver and the bikes lock into the upright securely, all with the same key. Tilting the rack out of the way is easy, even with a load. Assembly was straightforward. All the tools required for assembly were provided in the package. It may have taken ½ an hour to put everything together. It folds up compactly when not in use. I did have to adjust the rear view reverse camera on my car a little to get the best picture. I look forward to years of use. I recommend this product. 644340

I like the product but for only one thing, it is a little small for my ebike, other wise for regular bikes it's fine. I bought it because it said that it fits ebikes and there weight but alas that is not so with mine. So I give it a 3 star out of 5. It is well made they can also improve on their locking mechanism. 619495

  • Recommended Options for Carrying 3 Bikes - 2 Pedego E-Bikes and 1 Schwinn.
  • I do have some great options for you, but since you are wanting to carry 2 E-Bikes and a Schwinn, the solution for a single bike carry is limited to the Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Rack # Y02443-2. This really is a great bike rack that has a 200 lbs weight capacity, but the problem is that it is a wheel mount and from my research it looked like all of your bikes have fenders which will not allow the wheel mount to work properly. If none of your bikes have a fender and the vehicle you will be using...

  • Comparing the Yakima HoldUp and Saris Freedom 4 Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Carriers
  • If I was choosing between the Yakima HoldUp # Y02443-2 and the Saris Freedom # SA4414B I would go with the Freedom. The primary reason is the folding operation. The Saris Freedom has a lever at the back which is very easy to access. The HoldUp has it up near the shank which makes it harder to access, especially with bikes loaded. Also the Saris Freedom is lighter which means it is easier to handle and store than the HoldUp. The Freedom weighs 53 pounds and the HoldUp weighs 100 pounds. The...

If you look around on the internet, you'll see a lot of people are really happy with the Ecohitch, however its position further back and open end means you will be limited on some accessories because their stinger will be too long.
