Features to know about

Heavy Bikes Made Easy: 60 lb Capacity Per Bike

No worries about hauling your e-bikes or heavier rides. The T2 Pro XTR supports up to 60 lbs per bike, handling the weight without flex or sway. Deep cradles and extra-long 18" wheel straps secure fat tires up to 5.0" wide, while sliding trays adjust for different wheelbases up to 50-1/2". Whether it’s a carbon frame or a full-power e-bike, this platform rack holds steady and doesn’t touch your frame or paint.

Smooth Loading and Unloading: Front-Mounted Handle and Tilt Feature

Getting to your gear shouldn’t mean unloading your bikes. The T2 Pro XTR tilts down even when fully loaded, giving you quick access to cargo behind it. The front-mounted handle sits right where you need it, so you can tilt or fold the rack using both hands without reaching around the bikes. When folded up, it keeps a compact profile at just 20-1/2" from the hitch for easy parking and storage.

Stable and Tool-Free Setup: Hand-Tightening Cam with Anti-Rattle System

No tools, no hassle. Slide it into your 2" hitch, tighten the hand knob, and the anti-rattle wedge expands inside the receiver to take out motion and noise. The rack’s integrated SnugTite hitch pin locks into place as you tighten, keeping everything solid. When it’s time to move or store, the built-in wheels let you roll the 52-lb rack instead of carrying it.

Secure by Design: Built-In One-Key System Locks

Both your bikes and the rack lock up with Thule’s One-Key System. Integrated cable locks pull from the arms to wrap around your bike frames, while a lock in the hand knob secures the rack itself. Once the knob is locked, it spins freely so nobody can loosen it. The keys are matched so one lock set handles it all.

Built for All-Season Riding: Durable Steel with Black Powder Coat

A steel frame finished in a black powder coat stands up to the elements and resists rust. Every part is designed to last through road grime, rain, and long drives. Solid, quiet, and easy to live with, the Thule T2 Pro XTR keeps your bikes steady from garage to trailhead and back again.

Very happy with this new bike rack. I love how simple it is to load and secure the bikes. Ordered shipped and received in 72 hours. No issues with wobble or worrying about the bikes moving around while driving.

by:

Your personal service provided me was excellent.

The
main problem is with the installation instructions provided by Thule that are very poor. It simply does not go into the needed detail for an accurate and complete install. Also, when you have a fat tire there is no mention on what you need to do with the straps to expand the length needed. Most people would think that this product does not work, but it does if you know what the fix is to lengthen the straps.

The bottom line for me was to follow a [online] video that recognizes the confusion from the "manual" and then takes you through the clear steps to make it all work.

Greg, when you have a chance, refer to "Thule T2 Pro XT and XTR Hitch Mount Bike Rack Assembly Tips" and see the comments and instructions presented. Thule most likely knows about this but they need to be reminded so further improvements can be made for their written instructions.

Again Greg, your service was outstanding. The written instructions are out of your control.

Solid construction, easy to use, extremely stable, and well engineered. Stores away easily with integrated wheels. Love the ability to lower the rack when it is on the vehicle (with the bikes on it) in order to give clearance for the tailgate to open. Some assembly is required but that was straight-forward and relatively easy. Assembly gives you the opportunity to custom position the racks from left to right as you like. My only minor complaint is that the locking cable integrated into the rack is too short to fit all the way around the frame of a large eBike. It works fine with a thinner framed pedal bike. I just use a separate heavy duty cable lock when carrying an eBike.

by:

easy to attach and remove. Easy to load and unload an holds bikes well.

It was worth every penny compared to the other bike rack we have! Also when you deal with etrailer you get what you pay for great products and outstanding service!

Wonderful! It has performed exactly as I expected it and allows us an easy, stress free way of Tran sporting our bikes to the trails we like to explore. Getting the bikes on and off is simple and takes little to real physical strength.

Great product, great company to do business with. etrailer is the best. Friendly, helpful and they made sure the bike rack was shipped immediately and it was delivered on time.

Great product. The instructions are picture only. I had to visit the University of YouTube to understand how to use the hitch lock. If the instructions had been written this would be five stars.

Still works well. Rugged and easy to use.

by:

Great sturdy rack, and the wheels are very beneficial. Have never been a fan of the Thule locks, but the rack makes up for it.

by:

I love this bike rack, was told it was extremely hard to get last summer with supply chain but etrailer had one and it got to us quickly. We have 2 pedal-assist e-bikes, one is quite heavy; no issues whatsoever with this rack, it is excellent. Highly recommend both the rack and etrailer.com

by:

Easy to assemble, easy to use. Needed a more robust rack to handle the weight of two e-bikes and this model did the trick.

by:

We have two electric bikes which fit on it perfectly. Very easy to operate and hook up to our Rivian R1S. Highly recommend it!

by:

The Thule T2 Pro XTR rack is outstanding. It is sturdy and built to last, and the wheels make it easy to slide up to the trailer hitch and engage it easily. The tilt feature leaves adequate access to the back of my Subaru Forester. The bikes ride in complete security. My one quibble is that the locking cables are far too short to be useful on our bikes.

Very well. It took a loading or two before I got the moves right for loading a heavy ebike, but once researched, it is easy to do. Very secure, very durable.

by:

I previously owned the Thule T2 classic hitch that was damaged in an accident. After researching a replacement, I found the reliability of Thule and significant advantage of being able to easily roll the XTR into the hitch with very little lifting effort. This is a major improvement considering the weight and unwieldy nature of the Classic version. The only negative as compared to the Classic version, is loss of the lockable wheel bars and the awkward short lockable cables on the XTR.
This is more than offset by the ease of mobilty and use of the XTR model.

Product has been great after a year of use. Wheel design on newer model makes it soo much easier to mount on hitch than older model

by:

This bike rack is amazing! Only negative is that the included instructions for assembly are not great, but videos I found online helped with that. I can install this rack on my hitch and have bikes loaded up in just a few minutes, and it makes traveling with our bikes easy since we can still tilt it down to access the back hatch even with bikes attached. Best of all, this rack is INCREDIBLY sturdy. On vacation with two bikes in tow, I got a flat tire on my car and had my car towed to a dealership to get new tires. I had to have it towed on a flatbed because it was the only way to transport the bikes as the back of the car was full of luggage. When the tow truck started to pull my Highlander onto the bed, the angle of the car/flatbed was steep enough that the bottom of the bike rack (an angled piece of metal that hangs down where right where the rack attaches to the hitch) began scraping the ground. I was worried that the bike rack had been damaged, but it didn't even get scratched even though the metal of the rack scraped about a half inch off the surface of the asphalt!

After a year of using this rack, I would still highly recommend it as one of the sturdiest and most functional bike racks out there! It is incredibly easy to put on and take off, but if you leave it on as I usually do it is still easy to get into the cars hatch whether you have bikes loaded on it or not. Loading bikes on the racks is quick and easy, and it holds them securely. I can use it with my carbon frame bikes since it puts no stress on the frame, and even with my heaviest steel and mountain bikes it holds them in place solidly. It IS fairly heavy, but is still easy to get on and off the hitch, and the wheels on the bottom make it easy to move around in my garage when its off the car. One of the best purchases Ive made!

by:

Excellent quality. I really like the tool free install and removal from the vehicle. The assembly manual that comes with the rack is pretty vague but assembly was easy after watching some on line videos.

by:

Works as advertised and one of the best things I’ve purchased for biking

Easy to load and unload bikes

Great for short or long trips and very secure

Drop down feature while attached is extremely helpful with locking mechanisms

I’d buy again in a heartbeat

by:

Obviously great quality! Not hard to install; however, I suggest watching [online] video prior to installation. Manual with pictures wasn’t very helpful.

by:

Service was ok. Regular website, email, tracking. But what I received was a disgrace. I thought I took advantage of a holiday sale, and what they sent me was what looks refurbished.

by:

The Thule bike rack is great, making it very easy to load and unload our bikes. Both this and the hitch we ordered from etrailer are performing flawlessly.

by:

I had a great trunk rack. However, it would not hold an E bike due to the weight. This rack does a great job of holding my E bike. The rack also allows for me to get into my hatch where a trunk rack would not.

Ive had this hitch rack for a year now. This is a great rack. It is still a great investment. I dont have any problems with the bikes on the rack. It also is very durable.

by:

Overall, a well-built bike rack. Only one problem was the hitch lock didn't work
and seen on u tube this has been accruing problem with many previous owners. will contact mfg for a replacement lock.

by:

The quality of the rack is very sturdy and well built. I needed a rack that has a 12” spacing between wheels do to the baskets on each bike, and this rack delivered that. The issues I have with this rack are: I have a GMC Yukon suv and with the rack mounted I have to lift my two Lecritc 2.0 e-bikes, at 60 pounds each up over 24” to get it mounted. It sure could use ramps, which I know it did not come with. The clamp hold down does not work with fenders on a bike. It does not clamp very well on the cross bar (male and female) type do to the width and the angle of the cross bars. When clamping in front of the front fender makes the bike very unstable, and will require additional strapping and tie downs to secure the bikes. It claims it is for e-bikes, but only if it has no fenders. Nice rack, just not for me.

Those are some impressive bikes! I do have alternate bike racks to consider. One is part # TH903202 which does come with a ramp to make it easier to load the bikes. Another new option is part # SAR42RR. This one does require for the vehicle to have a seven way installed. It is unique in that it has an electric lift to install the bikes. You can see a review of it in the link below.

I had a 30 year old Thule bike rack that I replaced with the new one. The old one was great but the new one much greater. The wheels for easy moving the rack are awesome and the locking system is as well. The way it drops down so I can get into the back of my camper without taking the bikes off is very convenient. Very please with my purchase. I suspect this rack will last at least 30 years as well !!

  • Is there a Ramp for a Thule T2 Pro Bike Rack?
The Thule T2 Pro bike racks like item # TH83JV are great but they were designed prior to the whole ramp fad that's now taking hold of the bike rack community. The only way to add a ramp to this rack would be to modify something that fits. I have no idea if the Access Ramp for Kuat NV 2.0 Bike Rack item # ANVBRB would work but if it was me and I would go with one that has hooks like the Loading Ramp for Inno Tire Hold HD Bike Rack item # IN52RR. The biggest change between the Thule T2 Pro and Pro XT # TH83JV is the distance between the bikes. Originally the T2 Pro was designed to work with Fat bikes right out of the box. The only issue was people had a hard time getting 2 Fat bikes to fit because of the wider frames to go around the large tires.
