Swagman Dispatch

The Dispatch lets you carry 2 bikes on the back of your vehicle. It has padded, ratcheting hooks and sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting straps so you can carry 2 bikes regardless of size, frame design, or suspension or brake style. An integrated lever lets you tilt the upright mast down for rear cargo access, and the low loading height reduces the strain of mounting your bikes for transport. It also has a locking system that secures your bikes to the rack and the rack to your hitch.

Padded, Ratcheting Hooks

Swagman Dispatch Ratcheting Hooks

Ratcheting hooks on the upright arm hold 2 bikes of varying sizes firmly by the top tubes. The padded hooks won't scratch or scuff your bike, and built-in locks let you secure the bikes to the rack. You can fold the upright arm when no bikes are on the rack for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Sliding Wheel Cradles with Ratcheting Straps

Swagman Dispatch Adjustable Wheel Cradles

Sliding cradles with ratcheting straps hold your bikes in place by the wheels. The cradles easily adjust with hand knobs to accommodate bikes of different lengths.

Folding Design

Swagman Dispatch Folding Design

A spring-loaded lever at the base of the upright mast lets you lower it for access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Hitch Lock and Cable Lock

Hitch Lock And Cable Lock

The locking, threaded hitch pin and 10-mm, braided steel cable secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your hitch receiver. The cable threads through the frames of your bikes and the looped end of the cable fits around the hitch pin to lock your bikes to the rack. The threaded hitch pin also serves as an anti-wobble device to eliminate rattling in the receiver.

Video Transcript for Swagman Hitch Bike Racks Review - 2016 Newmar Bay Star Bay Star Motorhome

Today on our 2016 Newmar Bay Star built on an F53 chassis we're going to be doing a test fit of the Swagman Dispatch platform-style 2-bike rack for RVs. That's part number S64684. It's specifically designed for RVs in that it has limited moving parts, so it's going to be a lot more stable here at the rear of your RV. It secures our bikes in three locations. We've got a frame hook going over our top tube putting down pressure on our bike into our front and rear cradles. Then we've got wheel straps. Now let's go ahead and take our bike off.

We'll start by undoing the straps. We'll press in on the little tab and then guide the strap out. Then we can raise up our hooks. We'll use our thumb to press in on the button, raise the front one up, and then the second one. Then we can just take our bike off. We do have one moving part; it's the center mast.

It folds down to the left, and we can stow it there when it's not being used. Or, if you've got it installed on your vehicle, you could use it to grant access to your rear hatch. Now we'll go ahead and give you some measurements. Overall, we've added about 29" to our Bay Star. For our clearance between, we've got about 6-1/2". For our ground clearance here at the very back we're looking at about 26".

Finally, for our ground clearance underneath we've got about 18-1/2". It secures into our receiver tube with an included anti-rattle bolt and lock. The nice thing about the anti-rattle bolt is it's going to help reduce a lot of play and rattle from our receiver and our bike rack to make a nice solid ride for our two bikes. The nice thing about the lock is it's going to prevent anyone from removing our bike rack from our receiver. That's going to complete our test fit of the Swagman Dispatch platform-style 2-bike rack for RVs, part number S64684, on our 2016 Newmar Bay Star built on an F53 chassis. Today on our 2016 Newmar Bay Star, built on an F53 chassis, we're going to be doing a test fit of the Yakima LongHaul hanging-style 4-bike rack for RVs. That's part number Y02476. It's specifically designed for RVs in that it has limited moving parts, so it's going to be a lot more stable here at the rear of your RV.

It secures our bikes in three locations. We've got two ZipStrips for our top tube and then one for our seat post tube. The one for our seat post tube is going to be our anti-sway. It's going to help prevent sway in the bike when we're on the road, as well as bike to bike contact and bike to RV contact. Let's go ahead and take it off. We'll squeeze in on the two tabs on the side and then pull out the ZipStrips. Then we can just take our bike off. Now let's go ahead and replace our ZipStrips. It's a perfect time to show you how easy they are to put on. They just slip right in. The only moving part we do have is our dual arms. If you're concerned about clearance here at the rear of your RV, they simply fold down. Or, if you've got it installed on your vehicle, it's ideal for pulling in your garage over night or a tight parking spot. Now we'll give you some measurements. With the arms folded down, we've got about 9" here at the rear. With the arms folded up, we've added about 34" to the rear of our RV. For our space between we're looking at about 5". Finally, for our ground clearance we've got about 18-1/4". It secures into our hitch with an included anti-rattle bolt and lock. The nice thing about the anti-rattle bolt is it's going to help reduce all that play and rattle within our receiver and our bike rack to make a nice solid ride for our bikes. The nice thing about the included lock is we don't have to worry about anybody removing our bike rack from our hitch. That's going to complete our test fit of the Yakima LongHaul hanging-style 4-bike rack for RVs, part number Y02476, on our 2016 Newmar Bay Star, built on an F53 chassis. This is our test course. Let's start with the slalom. This shows side to side action such as turning corners or evasive maneuvering. Then onto our alternating speed bumps. This shows twisting action such as hitting curbs, potholes, road debris, or uneven pavement. Last of all, the solid speed bumps. This shows up and down action such as driving through a parking lot or parking garage, or driving in and out of a driveway.

I have an extremely low trailer (a 1966 Aristocrat LoLiner to be exact) and I was concerned about finding the right bike rack that wouldn't scrape on the ground when we drive in and out of driveways. This model turned out to be perfect- even when put on a very old, low, rickety old trailer! It is very easy to put the bikes on, we have both a large men's mountain bike and a small women's road bike, both went on in a snap. My favorite feature is the lock system that is included which locks the bikes to the hitch and the hitch to the receiver. I would absolutely recommend this product. Thank you to the staff member at etrailer who advised me of the perfect trailer-rated rack! 659356

I needed a Heavy duty bike rack that fits my RV and doesn't scratch up the bikes. This one works great and no scratches. I like the etrailer symbols that identify if the rack would work with an RV. I went in and out of several driveways (mine is steep) and the rack did not drag like my old crappy one did. I'm happy with this rack. 377459

We just got back from a 3,200 mile 31 day trip hauling two fairly heavy bikes. This bike rack locks down like a pitbull on a rabbit. With the ratchet top hooks and the lower wheel straps there is zero bike movement and getting the bikes on and off is a snap -literally. On top of that the threaded draw bar pin keeps bouncing to a minimum. Yes it's expensive. But I always say "You don't always get what you pay for, but you don't get what you don't pay for" I'd buy it again without a doubt. 494617

Rack was easy to assemble, despite the terse instructions (no parts list, no mention of 3 different sized bolts and which to use at each step, no mention that holes were cut square on one side for the head of the carriage bolts). Someone who hasn't done much assembly could be very confused. It took a lot of experimentation to determine if we'd be able load our 2 bikes (one comfort bike with angled top tube, one short wheelbase recumbent). After about an hour, we found an arrangement that worked. The rack is quite sturdy and heavy. We haven't traveled with the rack yet, but we are pleased with the construction and think it will work well. When we leaned on the installed rack there was no wobble whatsoever. The bikes were solidly held in position. We can't open the rear doors on our Sprinter van because of interference from the wheel cradles. We plan to remove the small screws placed near the ends of the bars to prevent the cradles from coming off, then come up with another system to secure them that allows for easy removal. 392298

Sent back the Swagman 2 bike rack because it was too flimsy and the bikes banged together. Bought the hitch-mounted rack and there is no comparison. Great quality and heavy duty. The wheel cradles and the ratchet-down frame holders make it a great carrier. Katie M was more than gracious in taking the first Swagman back and getting the second to me' 273651

When I initially received this product, I discovered that the threads of the bushing in the receiver portion of rack had become damaged from the welding process. This caused the hitch bolt/pin to bind and ultimately shear off in the receiver, (see attached photos). Fortunately, I was able to work with Mr. Dave Bickell and he was able to send me a replacement part before my upcoming vacation. Again, thank you for all your help Dave. This rack has performed flawlessly on the back of a 2007 Winnebago View and has traveled to Acadia National Park in Maine, the White Mountains in New Hampshire and to the Everglades in Florida, (see attached photos). The rack and the bicycles remained perfectly secure in all instances and was subjected to interstate highways, secondary and unimproved alike. The bike rack is somewhat heavy, but, I think it needs to be. Thank you for the great product and the great customer service. 459520

The reason for this purchase was to find a bike platform rack that would work on both a 2017 Subaru Outback (mounted on 2" Class III EcoHitch) and a 2012 Roadtrek Popular 190 RV. The Subaru was not an issue, but the Roadtrek required a minimum of 14" clearance from hitch pin hole to the forward most point on the rack in order to clear an aft mounted (left side) spare tire. This rack fits the bill. The rack is much heavier than I though it would be, but I finally figured out how to carry it from one vehicle to another. Initially, installing the bikes is not as easy was it looks. However, after trying several different options and adjusting the wheel cradles properly, the bikes fit just right without any contact with each other or the spare tire housing. I have not driven the vehicles with the bikes yet, but I am very satisfied with the fit and stability of the rack. 446361

I have to park my 5th wheel in a space restricted space and I knew I would have to remove the bike rack after every trip. So, I began looking for the lightest weight, RV approved Swagman bike rack I could find that had the weight rating I needed for my heavy bikes. I have other Swagman products and feel like they offer good quality for a reasonable price. I considered the Swagman Traveler XCS (S64664), but my bikes were right at the upper weight limit for the Traveler, so I called Swagman. They said they had seen some failures of the wheel loops above the weight limit; so I went with the Swagman Dispatch (S64684). I'm glad I did. It's well made and seems conservatively rated. Easy to put together. It weighs 53 lbs, but is not really cumbersome to load since there is a lot to grab onto when it is unfolded. If you can pick up and load the bikes, then you shouldn't have any problem with the hitch. I especially like the threaded hitch pin that eliminates hitch wobble. The rack is easy to assemble. The ratcheting hooks work well, but took me a while to figure out the bike orientation/hook orientation/wheel position that worked the best for the rack. Good clearance between the bikes and camper and good ground clearance between the ground and the rack. This rack is solid as a rock and I don't see any movement while traveling. Pictures are with the anti theft cable in place. 425717

We use this bike rack on our 2016 Winnebago Navion motor home. I found assembly very straightforward. It has shown highly satisfactory performance and stability on bumpy roads. It is easy to get our bikes off and back on. We are very satisfied, and feel this is an excellent product, worth the price we paid. We also greatly appreciated the quick shipping! 275329

This Swagman bike rack assembled in a few minutes. The bike rack provides extremely stable support of our bikes on the back of our 5th wheel camper. I have full confidence that the bikes are secure and safe. I am very pleased with these components and would recommend for any camper installation. Installation on back bumper required moving the spare tire to the left of center to mount the bike rack to the back bumper of the camper using the Swagman 2" clamp on trailer hitch receiver (S64025). The Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack extends to provide ample room for the spare tire and clearance for the bikes. Because of the design of my wife's step through bike frame we had to add the Swagman bike frame adaptor (64005) to hold the bike in the vertical position. 353937

The bike rack works great. Used it behind my fifth wheel and now our motor home. Towed across the county and back 7000 miles. This November took a trip to Florida. We found this bike rack to be easy to assemble. It appears to be very sturdy, which also means it is pretty heavy and somewhat difficult to move from one vehicle to a another by myself. We haven't used it on our travel trailer yet, but anticipate that it will be just what we needed. 628072

customer service informed me well after the order was placed that the unit was back ordered... turned out nearly a month or so...not great to but ok. then when the order did arrived, the box had been opened and was in very rough shape.. ie moisture damage, holes and major disintegration and had been repacked. amazingly all parts seem to be there, though some in less than brand new condition. after all, the unit went together fine(very straightforward assembly) and seems sturdy as one would expect for an rv approved platform rack and the cosmetic damage isn't worth the hassle of correcting. 566798

You will want to select an RV-rated hitch bike carrier for use on the back of your 5th wheel trailer. Standard bike racks made for use on cars and SUVs are not suitable for use on a trailer due to the additional stresses found at the rear of such vehicles. The extra stress results from the greater distance between the rear axle and the hitch. For this I recommend the Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches # S64684 that has a folding mast where the bikes are held by the frame...

  • RV Rated Bike Rack for Use on a Winnebago View
We don't have a hitch mounted Swagman bike rack that is rated for RV use and can be tilted. The moving parts that allow a bike rack to tilt can create weak points and will likely not hold up to the additional stress placed on a rack when used on an RV. The Swagman Dispatch # S64684 is a folding rack because the center mast can be folded down, however not while the bikes are in use. Take a look at the video I've linked to see how flat it folds. The shank does have a 6-1/2 inch rise...

It has sliding wheel cradles with ratcheting straps along with a ratcheting rubberized hook to grip the frame of your bike. The hooks adjust independently to hold bikes of different sizes. There is a shank rise of 6-1/4 inches to provide extra ground clearance. This comes with a combination hitch lock and...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for Trailer with Tilting Bumper Mounted Spare Tire
For your camping trailer that has a tilting bumper mounted spare tire, I recommend looking at an RV approved hitch-mounted bike rack like the Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64684. This will slide into a 2 inch trailer hitch receiver and hold 2 bikes of up to 45 pounds each. When the bikes are unloaded from the carrier, the upright mast can be folded down to allow you to tilt back the spare tire on your trailer for rear storage access. This carrier also includes a hitch and cable...

  • Recommended Motorhome Approved Bike Rack for Electra Townie Bikes
In order to carry your two Electra Townie bikes on the back of your class C motorhome, I recommend the Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack part # S64684. This is an excellent cost effective rack that will work well for you. It has adjustable metal wheel trays which will handle much more abuse than the plastic wheel trays most manufacturers use. It also comes with a lock for both the bikes and rack. In order to securely attach the frame hook on the Dispatch to the step through frame on...

  • Can Swagman Dispatch S64684 Be Used with Bumper Mounted RV Hitch
Yes, you can use a bumper mount RV hitch receiver, like the Swagman # S64025 to mount the Swagman Dispatch 2 Bike Platform Rack # S64684. The # S64025 receiver attaches to your 4x4 continuous-welded steel bumper and provides the 2 inch opening needed to mount the Swagman Dispatch (RV approved) bike rack. The closest part of the Dispatch # S64684 is 12 inches from the center of the hitch pin hole so it will definitely clear the spare on the back of your Rockwood Roo 19. The rack can carry...

Basically the only bike rack we offer that is going to accommodate your 65 lb fat bike is going to be the Thule Easy Fold part # TH903202 that is designed for heavier electric bikes. Since this rack comes with very long wheel straps they would fit around your fat tires as well. I attached a review video for you to check out as well.

  • Recommended Bike Carrier For Hitch On Class C Motorhome
The bike carriers that are rated for RVs are built more rugged and able to withstand the additional shaking and jarring that you do not get with a typical passenger vehicle. If a manufacturer does not have a carrier approved for RVs then the warranty would be void. We have a nice platform-style bike carrier that is rated for RV use. I recommend the Swagman Dispatch, part # S64684. This carrier features rubberized hooks to hold the bikes securely and sliding wheel cradles that adjust...
