Best Bike Rack For Carrying Tow E-Bikes On A Grand Design 260RD 5th Wheel

Updated 05/13/2026 | Published 05/10/2026

Question:

We have a GD 260RD 5th wheel with a 300 pound tongue weight 2” rear receiver and are looking for a rack for our 2 lectric ebikes. We looked at the Hollywood rack but it states 350 pounds tongue weight. Another option is the swagman, but we cannot find the tongue weight specs for it. Can you advise?

Hey Patti, thanks for reaching out. The Swagman E-Spec Pro Bike Rack # S45SR is a solid option for this. It can hold two bikes weighing up to 70 lbs apiece on a 5th wheel, and it does not have a minimum tongue weight capacity limitation like the Hollywood rack you mentioned. As long as the weight of the bikes plus the rack is under 300 lbs you'll be good to go there.

If you need something with an 80 lb per bike rating, we do have the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE # HLY84FR. This is rated for 5th wheels as long as the hitch is frame mounted and not bumper mounted. There is no minimum tongue weight limitation for this one either. It just has to be a frame mounted 2" receiver.

Personally, I'd lean towards the Hollywood rack since it has a slightly higher weight capacity. Also it comes with a bike lock and hitch lock. All for a lower price too.

What model Lectric e-bike do you have? Know how much they weigh without the batteries?

We have the Lectric 2.0 bikes. One with step thru feature. Husband says they way approx 63 pounds with batteries and 56-57 without the batteries installed. So we will be ok with the 300 pound limit. Would there be any additional parts needed? Thank you.

@Patti Ok nice! For the step-thru frame you'll need an adapter bar part # HRBA-PRO to give the ratcheting hook a secure mounting location. For standard frame bikes it won't be needed. Its always recommended to remove the batteries anytime you transport your bikes. This is to keep the batteries safe and protected and it also helps cut the weight.

That is the part I need for the Swagman RV rack you recommended?

@Patti Swagman makes their own version, but they are universal, so the adapter bar doesn't have to be brand matched to the rack. The Hollywood one costs less and generally fits more bikes. It can adjust to between 15-1/2" and 28-1/4" long so I'd suggest just checking to make sure that works for your step-thru bike and you'll be good to go.

We were in you position a few years ago and decided to go with the Hollywood rack. It is heavy but well worth it. We have 2 electric mountain bikes and use it all the time. We have been extremely pleased with the choice and would highly recommend the Hollywood rack

Ho Patti, We have a 2021 GD 344gkr fifth wheel. We bought the Hollywood racks 2 E bike rack. We Love it, sturdy, straps down tight, and looks Great! I did buy an additional hitch anti rattle tightener to add better stability and to secure the load better. Trust this helps. Gene

I would NOT recommend the Hollywood Rack. We have had it less than 2 years and were already looking for a different rack. We find it awkward to load the bikes and have trouble keeping them from shifting during travel resulting in damage from the bikes rubbing against the rack or each other. To make matters worse, just this morning, we just discovered a broken weld rendering the rack useless.

@SteveT Uh oh that's not good. Sorry to hear that. That rack does come with a lifetime warranty so that might be worth pursuing if the welds are failing after less than 2 years.

We have a Brinkley Z2900 with the same specs and we have had no problems with the Hollywood rack and it also comes with a brace to stop everything from bouncing around, we love it!
