SportRider SE2 Dimensions

The Sport Rider Special Edition platform-style hitch bike rack makes it simple to carry 2 bikes on the rear of your vehicle. This versatile rack is easy to use, and it features locking frame hooks and adjustable wheel trays, so you can quickly load and unload your bikes. A locking hitch pin with an anti-rattle system tightens the rack's shank to your hitch receiver to prevent it from rattling around inside the receiver.

Locking, Ratcheting Hooks

1450 SE2 Hooks

Constructed of rugged steel with a sleek black powder coat finish, the Sport Rider SE2 uses locking frame hooks to secure your bikes. The ratcheting hooks are easily adjusted along the vertical mast and lock securely in place. The push buttons allow the hooks to slide up the ratcheting system to allow for bike removal. The lock cores keep the hooks from being moved up or down on the mast to deter theft. The hooks are different sizes and each one functions independently, meaning the rack can carry 2 bikes of the same or different heights.

Adjustable Wheel Holders

1450 SE2 Wheel Holders

The wheel holders accommodate bicycles with wheelbases up to 60", and you can adjust the wheel hoops by sliding them along the horizontal arms. They are secured in place with hand knobs. Velcro-like hook-and-loop straps secure your bike's wheels to the holders.

Hollywood Racks Trail Rider Adjustable Wheel Holders

If you want to carry a fat bike on the Sport Rider SE2, you can replace the rack's wheel trays with specifically-designed fat bike cradles (HRSPRWH-F-HD - sold separately).

Folding, Tilting Design

Sport Rider SE Tilting Spring Pin

The rack tilts, with or without bikes loaded, for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area. Simply remove the pivot pin, pull the bottom quick-release spring pin, and lower the rack.

Sport Rider SE Folding Spring Pin

The rack also folds up against the back of your vehicle when it's not in use. To raise the rack, just pull the upper quick-release spring pin and lift.

Easy Installation with Locking Hitch Pin

The Sport Rider SE easily installs in your hitch with the included locking hitch pin. Just slide the shank into your receiver and insert the hitch pin. The frame hook locks and the hitch lock are conveniently keyed alike.

1400 SE Anti-Wobbles

An integrated anti-wobble handle on the front of the base unit tightens the rack's shank to your hitch receiver to prevent it from rattling around inside the receiver. You don't need to pull out a wrench every time you install the rack on your hitch - just turn the easy-to-access handle to keep the rack from rattling. A second lever secures the two-bike extension to the base of the rack.

The included 8' long cable attaches to the hitch pin to help secure the bikes to Sport Rider rack.

Add-On Adapters

Sport Rider SE 2-Bike Add-on

The Sport Rider SE2 is expandable and adaptable. If you want to carry 4 bikes, a two-bike add-on accessory (HR1475Z - sold separately) is available.

Sport Rider SE Cargo Carrier

If you want to carry both 2 bikes and extra gear, an add-on cargo basket (HR1485 - sold separately) is available.

Hollywood Racks Wheel Hoop Adapters

If you want to use the rack to transport a kid's bike with 16" or 18" wheels, wheel hoop adapters (HRSW-ADP-2 - sold separately) are available.

If you want to transport 1 recumbent delta trike or 1 recumbent tadpole-style trike with the Sport Rider SE2, you can use the HRTRK-ADP adapter (sold separately). Or if you want to transport 1 standard bike and either 1 recumbent delta trike, 1 recumbent tadpole-style trike, or 1 adult trike, then you can use the HRTRK-ADP-2 adapter (sold separately).

Video Transcript for Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 2 Bike Platform Rack Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider, SE2 Platform style two bike rack, part number HR1450Z.For those who like to take their bikes on long vacations, the Hollywood Sports Rider SE2 is motor home approved. The Hollywood Sports Rider SE2 is a great bike rack with plenty of options. Not only does it allow us to carry two bikes, but we have the option to add the Hollywood Racks two bike expansion for two more bikes, or the Hollywood Racks Cargo carrier. Though those accessories are sold separately, if you don't already own this Hollywood bike rack, you can pick them all up in a kit with part number HR1400-85. If that's not something you're interested in, you can pick up the accessories individually. See etrailer.com.The bike rack itself is a step up compared to other platform style racks.

It's what I would call a premium bike rack. The frame hooks are lockable. This is going to prevent anyone from removing our bikes from our bike rack. It also comes with a hitch pin lock. This is going to prevent anyone from removing our bike rack from our vehicle.

And finally, it has quick release spring pins. This is going to make the bike rack easier to use.One of its best features is, it tilts away so we can gain access to our rear hatch. You simply remove the snapper pin here, and then pull out on the quick release spring pin and rest it down. As you can see, we can open up our hatch to remove any cargo, gear, groceries .. anything we might have with us.

Now, depending on your bike or your vehicle, you might get a little more out of your hatch, or less. As you can see, we can still get in here, and remove any large items out of the back.It holds our bikes by their top tube. The frame hook puts down pressure into the front and rear cradles. Once they're in place, a hook and loop strap goes over our wheel, holding that in place.I've gone ahead and removed the bikes, so we can take a look at some more features. The hooks themselves are rubber coated for grip.

They're also going to prevent any harm or scratching done to our bike's top tube. Now, they're adjustable along the center mast for different sized bikes. Once you've got your bike in place, they simply ratchet down. Now like we mentioned before, it does lock. This is important to keep our bikes safe. The wheel cradles are adjustable along the platform. This would be for bikes with different sized wheel bases, like maybe a kid's bike versus an adult sized bike. Once you've got it set, you simply tighten that knob back up, then you're all set. Now the cradles themselves will hold tires up to three inches wide, so they'll work with your road bike tires, and your standard mountain bike tires. Now if you've got a fat tire bike, you could pick up the fat tire adaptor kit, with part number HRSPRWHR-F-HD.Here at the back it features a reflector. This is going to help us remain visible at night. Now, it also doubles as a cap for our receiver opening for our accessories. Now the Sport Rider features a seven inch shank rise. Not only is this going to give us better ground clearance, here at the very back, but it's also going to give us a higher loading height for when we're loading up our bikes. It's going to be less strenuous. When the Sport Rider is not in use, the center mast folds down to the right. You'll simply remove that pin, fold it down, realigning the holes, and then you can reinsert it right there. Now I'd like to add, with it folded down, we can access our rear hatch, open it all the way to remove any gear we might have with us.Now you can stow it like this if you'd like. If you prefer a little bit more room, you can pull out the quick release pin here, and fold it up against your vehicle. As you can see, this is going to give you a little more clearance here at the rear. This would be ideal if you're pulling into a garage or in a tight parking spot.I'd like to point out that the pin that holds the center mast in place, doesn't have any clips. It actually has a little tab. Once that's lined up with the notch on the hole and turned, it's not coming back out, so it locks in place. The bike rack is made out of a steel construction, giving us a weight capacity of 50 pounds per bike. It's very durable and strong. It's going to hold up for a long time. And like all Hollywood racks, it's got the standard black powder coat finish, so it's going to be resistant to rust and corrosion. One last great feature is, it has a limited lifetime warranty. The distance from the face of the hitch to the closest part of the rack when folded down is about 7.5 inches. The distance from the face of the hitch to the farthest part of the rack when folded down is about 27.5 inches. The distance from the face of the hitch to the closest part of the rack when folded up is about 5 inches, and the distance from the face of the hitch to the farthest part of the rack when folded up, is about 16.25 inches. Now we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. Now for this bike rack to work, you'll need to be sure you have a two inch by two inch hitch receiver. That's what we've got here. Before we install it, let's take a closer look at our anti-rattle mechanism. So here we have our elongated pin hole. On the inside we have our adjustable loop. How it works, is, once our shank gets fed into our two inch by two inch hitch receiver, the pin goes through the elongated hole, and the adjustable loop. Then, as we tighten up our lever, it uses the hitch to tighten itself. So we'll feed our shank into our receiver tube, and we want to go all the way in until it hits that welded tab. Then we can put our pin through either side, and while we're here, we can go ahead and put our lock on. Then we can come to the back and start tightening up our lever. Now what this is going to do, it's going to reduce all that play and rattle within our hitch receiver and our bike rack to make a nice solid ride for our bikes. So you'll want to keep tightening this down until it's nice and secure. The one thing you don't want to do is leave it hanging below the shank. So go ahead and tighten it up, until it's about here. Once everything's tight we can give it a good shake test to make sure. So as you can see, we're shaking the entire vehicle. It's nice and tight. With everything secure, we're ready to load up some bikes. We'll need to lower it down to the platform position. We can pull out on the quick release pin here, fold it down until it snaps into place. Then we can raise up our center mast, and undo our wheel straps. Then with our frame hooks up and out of the way, we can load up our first bike. Now it's recommended that you load up the heaviest bike first. For us it's going to be our mountain bike. With it resting in the front and rear cradles, we can go ahead and lower down that frame hook. Give it a good push once it makes contact, and it's nice and secure. We can go ahead and do our wheel straps. With everything all loaded up, let's go ahead and take it out on our test course and see how it performs. Here at our test course, first let's go onto our slalom. This is going to show side to side actions, such as going around corners, or evasive maneuvering. Then onto our solid speed bumps. This is going to show and up and down action, such as pulling in and out of a parking garage, or a driveway. And then finally onto our alternating speed bumps . this is going to show a twisting action, such as driving over potholes or uneven pavement. And that's going to complete our look at the Hollywood Racks Sports Rider SE2, platform style two bike rack, part number HR1450Z.

This is very well engineered. Lots of thought put into design. No wobble. We have an ebike & regular bike. We take the battery off the ebike when we transport the bikes. The rack folds up against the SUV when not in use. Very happy with this rack. 565795

I did a lot of research looking for the right bike rack that would hold 2 e bikes securely. The bikes have fenders, so a lot of the other brands wouldn't work where the hook grabs the front tire. This rack is great. Well built, solid and easily holds our 2 e bikes. Great features on the rack as well, tilt and no wobble, along with the locks and cable. Instructions were good and an easy project to put the rack together. Rack was shipped in a good protective box and arrived on time. 495795

Owned my Hollywood bike rack for a year now and hands down this is one solid unit.--has many adjustments for small and large bicycles .---The easy on and off clamps are failsafe.---The fold-up locking pins are a cinch while folding the rack into a smaller footprint.---- The included bike and hitch locks are a real plus and the built in hitch clamp removes 100% of rack sway. Overall a high quality rack for a real fair price.----Gordon Lehman 576997

Product arrived quickly. I found it easy to assemble and mount on my 2014 Honda CR-V. It seems very sturdy and should do a fine job carrying my two mountain bikes. 389258

Just purchased a Hollywood Sport Rider SE-2 From etrailer.com. Am quite pleased with the quality of the product , the easy assembly, and installation. Plan to use it to carry 2 bikes from home to wherever, did not want to carry in the bed of my pickup as did not want to damage bikes or truck bed. I am old guy and have no problem loading bikes by myself. And another plus is locking hitch and also locking cable for bikes. So easy, safe, and secure makes this product a great choice. Another great choice would be etrailor.com , The ease of navigating this site, ordering process helpful and caring staff is why I will order from this site again. Thanks etrailer.com 130476

This product met my expectations. It is extremely well engineered, high quality and very easy to assemble. I like the simple design and that it is very solid when attached to the car thanks to the 2" hitch. This was the one thing I was concerned most about but not any more it is a solid attachment. It is very easy to load bikes and lock down boys and girl frames no problem also like the way it folds up into a compact package which is easy to Cary and store. This will really make transporting our bikes from place to place a whole lot easier . If you are looking for a sturdy bike carrier this is the one to buy. Maybe a little pricey but once you get it installed and use it you will forget about what it cost. 186310

This bike rack is fantastic very good quality and exceeds my expectations. Only one slight flaw, the fabric tie downs for the wheels are poor quality, I had to call the company for 3 replacements which the company replaced very quickly for me at no cost, however the new straps could still be of better quality. Still a great product and Co. To deal with, I would buy another one if I had to.

Received the hitch very quickly. Everything was in good condition. Easy to put together and adjust. I would have preferred that the latch that comes down over the bike frame was the type that use a key lock, but considering the price, this will work. Using the tilt feature, I am able to open the rear hatch of my Outback even with my 29'r Cannondale on the mount closest to the car. I used the rack on 30 miles of back country, rough roads. By the nature of the way racks are mounted, they wiggle around a bit. Glad I got the 2" model. I think the 1 1/4" with a sleeve to fit a 2" would end up fatigued if used on rough roads. 107714

Rack is great, the quality control is not. The rack is straightforwardly engineered- there is no exotic workmanship or hardware to be found, which is fine by me, since replacement parts should be easy to find/make. Heavy and strong with a higher weight capacity than most. Highly adjustable to different bike sizes. Folds up pretty compactly considering its size. Included locking hitch pin and cable is nice. Anti-wobble mechanism works very well and is super easy to use. ISSUES: tilt-down feature did not tilt bikes far enough away to be useful (on my '98 4Runner anyway). Directions could be better thought-out, illustrations were small and overly dark. QUALITY CONTROL ISSUES: 1. the anti-wobble handle was installed facing the wrong way. Had to be re-intalled in order to function. 2. The anti-wobble "U" shaped bracket inside the hitch was oriented the wrong way. Had to be removed and re-oriented. 3. One of the pins did not have a tether (all the others do, which prevents you from losing them.) The first 2 issues were easily fixed, and the 3rd I can figure out something, but come on, it's a $300 rack, inspect it already. Despite this, very happy with purchase. 143334

Comes with a hitch lock AND cable lock long enough to wrap around bikes and then to be fed through the designated hole in the base of the rack. Four keys are given that open both provided locks, so there is no worrying if it is the correct key when you pull them out of storage. I have a heavier enduro mountain bike and my rack/hitch holds it without shaking and rattling, but also holds road bikes just as well. And if I ever meet two other people who would like to tear it up on the trails with me on a regular basis, I know I can come back here and buy the attachment for an additional two more bikes. A year later and it's never been removed, is rust free, and working like it did on day 1. By going through etrailer.com and not the car dealer to buy the hitch, install that myself, then buy the rack in store and install that too, I saved hundreds! Their products are quality at a fraction of others' prices, with great installation videos that helped me get 'er done (I'm definitely not a mechanic). Couldn't recommend this rack/etrailer.com more. 556616

We had shopped many of the well known brands of Bike racks and was able to use etrailer to view videos on each one of the products. We found this very helpful to actually see how it fit on the car and also how well it did or did not function in use. We ended up choosing the Hollywood brand, a two bike model that has the ability to expand. It was important that it tipped and folded flat so we shopped for those qualities as well as durability. We live in Colorado, use the rack almost every weekend and have a variety of weather conditions. After 2 weeks we are very happy with our purchase. It is sturdy, fits my Jeep Grand Cherokee perfectly and is easy to fold and tilt. I am small in stature so being able to maneuver around the rack and load and unload the bikes was important for me. Great rack and met all our needs. Note to buyers, if you have a newer vehicle with the backup object detector, the buzzing when you back up can make you a little crazy. 369377

Got this rack for transporting my e-bike. It holds it very securely. Have to remove the clamp adjusters so I can manhandle the beast onto the rack. Holds both my bikes perfectly. Have dealt with etrailer in the past and have always been pleased. Great service! 667953

Product was just as the etrailer rep presented when he recommended it. Arrived quickly, easy to assemble and load. We drove 1700 miles through 4 states (Ohio, W. Virginia, Virginia & N. Carolina) so we saw our fill of construction and rough roads. This includes interstate & local back roads in each state. The bikes are 2 cruisers old style. They never shifted or loosened. I did have to add foam on the ladies bike as the chain guard protruded enough to contact the brace. This is a bike design issue. The only scrape was the handle to tighten the hitch pin, try not to leave it hanging down. The large handle bars did limit access to the rear window, but the tilt function solved that. Pins got tight in the heat & ocean salt, light oil solved that. Very good product, service and guidance. I'll use this vendor again for other such need. 283556

We are very pleased with our choice of the Hollywood bike rack. It is very sturdy and well built. The bikes do not move while traveling. When the bikes are removed, the rack can be folded up out of the way while the vehicle is parked. Our truck is a 2012 Tacoma with a ARE truck cap. The cap can also be accessed with the rack and bikes in place. We would recommend this rack to others. 581776

This bike rack is second to none especially in this price range. I MHO I think this item is superior to many other brands out there and I’m referring to the well known brands as well. I was impressed with the way it was packaged from the factory and by etrailer. The instructions were clear and it assembled easily. I took my time and probably completed it in under an hour. I didn’t think to take pics with the bikes on the rack but I wanted people with Jeep Wranglers to see how this looks. Notice that I also have a Yakima Back Swing on the Jeep as well. I’ve purchased things from etrailer in the past and can speak of the quality of the products they sell and of course the customer service. 717514

Nice heavy duty bike rack. Came in when they said it would. Easy to put together. The locking cable is great. A friend of the family liked it so well when he saw it that he asked me to order him one. It sits a little higher than other racks i have had but thats to be expected for SUV clearance. Overall an excellent rack at a fair price. We like the way it tilts back and folds up when not needed. 707340

The rack is well built and functional. I have a 2" receiver but on a GMC 3500 is has an adapter for an even larger hitch tube. This rack came with anti-rattle bolt installed but far too short to go all the way through and pin on the far side of the hitch. The option for a longer bolt doesn't exist and the option would be to take out the anti-rattle bolt and drill the holes larger. Didn't want to do that on a new hitch so made and exchange for a Hollywood SE2 rack where I can use my locking hitch pin and their own style of universal anti-rattle. 679324

Package received yesterday. Instructions clear and we got the bikes up within 30 minutes. One ladies e-bike meant it wasn't easy to find a suitable rack but this one does the job with the additional frame adapter we got with it. The rack folds nicely to open the boot of our car whilst the bikes are on. It is a bit more fiddly than a comparable Thule, but at half the prize, who complains? 629341

This product is amazing. It arrived when it was supposed to. The box it arrived in was in great shape. All the parts were enclosed. Assembly was a breeze. Product assembly is a 3 on a 5 point scale. All hardware was present. This is a sturdy rack to carry my e-bike AND my wife's road bike. Nothing fancy or complicated--just sturdy and functional. 568466

Still functioning perfectly. As I get older, the weight of the item is a challenge-but with my wifes help we can easily install the rack into the receiver. Again, this rack can easily carry 70 lbs plus.

Purchased the Sport Rider SE2 2-Bike Platform Rack for use on my Subaru Outback. The rack arrived quickly and was packed in extremely sturdy packaging. Assembly was quick and easy. This rack is everything that I was looking for in a bicycle rack. Sturdy, rock solid mounting system, adjustable platforms, and is easy to load and adjust. The tilt feature and fold-up feature are a great help. Also included were a locking hitch pin and a cable lock. I can highly recommend etrailer.com 556818

The Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 2-Bike Platform Rack # HR1450Z that you referenced is 51 lbs. It weigh less than the version of this rack intended for E-bikes # HR1450Z-E since E-bikes are much heavier and the racks for them have to be reinforced.

  • E-Bikes and Yakima Bike Rack Weight Restrictions
For electric bikes, I usually don't recommend Yakima racks, because they don't quite reach the weight capacity needs of an eBike, which are usually between 60 and 85 pounds. Instead, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE for Electric Bikes, part # HR1450Z-E. This is a reinforced rack designed for carrying ebikes, with the ability to carry up to two 80 pound bikes. The rack includes a locking anti-rattle hitch pin and keyed alike cable bike lock. This bike rack is the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE2 2-Bike Platform Rack # HR1450Z. The add-on extension is part # HR1475Z for whenever you are needing to add those extra bikes, and you can even add a cargo basket # HR1485 if you need extra room in your vehicle. • How To Carry an Electric Bike on the Back of a Trailer
I do have an option for you but the heaviest bike you can carry on the back of a trailer is 70 lbs due to the availability of hitch bike racks that can be used on a trailer. If you can get your e-bike down to 70 lbs then you can use the Swagman E-Spec 2-Electric Bike Platform Rack part # S64689. However, I strongly recommend that you reach out to the trailer manufacturer to see how much you can carry on the bumper with a bumper mounted trailer hitch like the Curt RV Bumper Trailer Hitch...

The best option for you to carry your gear is the Curt Folding Carrier # C18151 that you mentioned. For your 2017 Nissan Rogue, the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13204 does require some trimming of an underbody trim panel, so whether you are comfortable doing that trimming or not would be the only issue with doing it yourself. If you are comfortable with the trimming as shown in the video you can absolutely do it yourself. If you are not, any mechanic you trust can install it. You may want to consider the Draw-Tite # 75902 simply because the installation will be the same, but Draw-Tite...

Your existing SE2 rack is a great carrier that features a weight capacity of 50 pounds per bike, which is really quite robust for a standard platform rack. • Fitting an RV With a Trailer Hitch Mounted Bike Rack
Generally speaking, RV rated racks are built to withstand the increased travel that the rack experiences when riding behind the RV. The distance from the axle to the hitch receiver is much greater than it is behind a car, causing far more bouncing and swaying when the rack is in use. Additionally, the suspension on most RV's is normally not enough to significantly reduce this travel, causing manufacturers to make racks that are significantly heftier than their passenger vehicle counterparts....

The SE2 rack can fold up toward the vehicle when you are not carrying any bikes so you do not have the entire extension of a bike rack sticking out from your vehicle. It also has the ability to tilt away from your vehicle giving you additional room to access the rear cargo area. The Sport Rider 2 bike rack also folds up, but the extension...

  • Can I Attach a Bike Rack to The Back of A Cargo Carrier on My 2015 Subaru XV Crosstrek Hitch?
Great question. The reason you cannot attach a bike rack to the shank of a separate cargo basket is that they are not designed to work together. Adding another accessory to your cargo carrier reduces the tongue weight (TW) capacity of your hitch by half. The added length of the bike rack on the end of the carrier will allow greater leverage to be applied to the hitch tube, which causes the loss of capacity. Combination racks like the Hollywood Racks SE2 Bike Rack with Cargo Carrier,...

When installed in that receiver on your vehicle, the closest portion of the rack would be 8-1/2 inches rearward of the hitch pin hole, which means that you will indeed have plenty of clearance for the rack to fold once it is installed.
