RockyMounts 11415 MonoRail 2 Bike Rack Loaded

The RockyMounts MonoRail platform-style rack lets you easily carry 2 bikes using your 2" hitch. Ratcheting arms and adjustable wheel straps secure your bikes without contacting the frame. A front-mounted release lever allows you to tilt the rack down and gain access to your vehicle's rear cargo area, or it can fold the rack up for a simple storage solution. The included hitch lock secures the rack to your vehicle, and an integrated cable lock secures your bikes to the rack.

Wheel-Mount Design for Easy Bike Loading

RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Ratcheting Arms

The rack allows you to quickly and easily load and carry 2 bikes on the back of your vehicle. The ratcheting arms securely hold your bikes by the front wheels so there's no frame contact. Simply push the button on the hook and slide it firmly into place over the front wheel. The wheel hooks are coated for grip and work with tire diameters up to 29".

Pivoting Rear Wheel Cradles with Ratcheting Wheel Straps

RockyMounts 11415 MonoRail 2 Bike Rack Wheel Straps

The pivoting rear-wheel cradle allows the rack to accommodate bikes with wheel bases up to 48" long. The cradles include ratcheting, rubber straps to hold your bike's rear wheels securely in place on the tray.

RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Rack with Fat Bike Straps

The MonoRail also comes with a wheel strap extensions that attach to the standard ratcheting straps to increase the usable length and secure wider tires. This allows the cradles to hold fat bike tires up to 5" wide.

Adjustable Bike Trays

RockyMounts MonoRail Adjustable Bike Trays

The front and back trays adjust 3" side-to-side to ensure you have enough space when loading your bikes. Just remove the bolts where the tray attaches to the bottom of the rack, slide the trays left or right to achieve the desired spacing, and then reinstall the bolts. This will prevent your bikes' handlebars from becoming tangled, and it eliminates the fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.

Front-Mounted Release Lever for Easy Tilting

RockyMounts 11415 MonoRail 2 Bike Rack Tilt Access

The front-mounted release lever allows you to easily tilt the MonoRail. The rack tilts down with or without your bikes loaded for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area

RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Rack Folded Storage

The lever also lets you fold the rack up for storage when you're not transporting the bikes. This is great for parking in places where space is limited such as a parking garage.

Easy Installation with Threaded Hitch Pin

RockyMounts MonoRail Hitch Mount Bike Rack

The MonoRail installs quickly and easily with a threaded, anti-rattle hitch pin. Simply slide the shank into your 2" hitch receiver, insert the threaded hitch pin, and tighten it down with the included tool. This will reduce noise and movement while the rack is installed.

Complete Security

RockyMount MonoRail Built-In Cable Lock

The rack comes with a hitch lock and a cable lock to deter theft of both the rack and your bikes. The cable lock wraps around your bikes' frames and secures to the rack with the included lock core.

RockyMounts MonoRail Hitch Lock

The hitch lock simply snaps onto the hitch pin and locks in place. The cable and hitch lock are keyed alike, so you'll only need 1 key for both locks.

Optional 1-Bike Add-On

RockyMounts MonoRail Add-On 1-Bike Extension

There is an optional 1-bike add-on available (sold separately) for the RockyMount MonoRail that will allow you to convert it from a 2 bike carrier to a 3-bike carrier. This is great for occasions when an extra friend wants to tag along.

I was looking for a good two-bike platform rack for my SUV. I've used a couple other racks . . . one was an economy brand and the other an expensive Thule brand. But after spending a fair amount of time viewing etrailer's videos and descriptions I decided on the Rocky Mount Monorail. I received it yesterday. Assembly was quick and easy. The quality of the parts was excellent. The size, weight and profile fit the Goldilocks standard, of not being too big, or too small. It was just right! The accessible Blue pull lever makes loading and adjusting very convenient. Haven't yet traveled very far with the rack yet but based on overall design and quality I'm expecting it to be 'better than expected'

Comments
Every part of it has worked perfectly. Took it on a 3000 mile vacation with 2 bikes . . . perfect!

I bought this rack for transporting my full suspension mountain bike and gravel bike on the back of my 2016 subaru outback. The rack itself so far is great - I spent a while researching different systems, and the Rocky Mounts MonoRail had the best value for features of all racks I looked at. The tilt feature is great, and the loading/offloading is easy. The integrated locks for the rack and your bikes are a great feature, although the cable would not stop a determined thief with tools. Bikes are relatively stable in the cradles on highways, minimal movement on gravel roads. One complaint is that the entire rack is not very snug in the 2" hitch installed on my vehicle. There is a noticeable bob and sway on the entire loaded unit on bumpy roads. Ideally, I would add shims. Finally, this unit does block ~60% of my backup camera, which just means you have to be careful and use the old school method of turning around to look before backing up.

I ordered a tilting Rocky Mount bike rack from etrailer.com. After receiving notification of the ship date of the bike rack, I realized that the product wasn’t going to arrive until after a bike trip I had planned, I spoke to Jenny, a representative from etrailer.com. She worked with me in selecting another model that would be available and arrive in time for my trip. I am impressed by the professionalism and service excellence I received from my phone experience at etrailer.com.

Well built, solid bike rack. Like the additional strap extensions for fat bikes. Holds bike well. Only minor issue was that instructions did not reference the rear wheel straps, but easy to figure out. I like that the rack tilt allows access to the rear hatch of my Subaru Forester.

working out great. Had issue with partial melt of one of the shepards hook melting due to proximity to my car exhaust. Able to get new part from manufacturer, repositioned hook, and all has been well since

Overall a great bike rack. I already had the smaller version with the 1.25" hitch, but wanted the 2" dedicated for another vehicle. This is a solid mount and works great with fat tire bikes (26"x4.75") all the way down to a road bike. I've also used on some E-Bikes with 20"x4" tires and worked well. My only "con" on this bike rack... is it's heavy. I'm a med/avg size guy and can handle this rake but if your not very strong I could see this being a struggle. Works great with our 2019 VW Atlas

The rack took almost 2 months to arrive due to backorder issues. However,we were pleased with the easy assembly. We have used several times and are comfortable with the rack. We are planning a trip with our grandson and will let him help assemble the addon so we can carry his bike as well.

Purchased the RockyMounts 2 Bike Rack recently. They're clearly in demand for a good reason. Had to wait for a few weeks before it could be shipped to us. eTrailer customer service was awesome and supported my email update requests. Rack arrived just before road trip from CA to CO. Rack performed 'as expected' with zero issues. The feature that enabled us to open our Lexus SUV tailgate was very nice. And the wheel mount feature that hold either my road bike tire or beach cruiser was a must. Five stars for this one...

Exceptionally solid hitch mount / tray platform type bicycle carrier. I The instructions were very clear and complete - with one exception of the the tray straps and strap extenders (not shown/mentioned). Some basic assembly was required - again the directions were very clear and everything need was supplied in the package. I took my time and it only took 15 minutes. The bike rack is outstanding in design, quality of materials, construction and function. It's very solid in all 3 positions (carrying bikes, laid 'down' to open the tailgate, and 'stowed' in the up/close position when not carrying bikes. I've had bike racks from other 'big name' vendors - this Rocky Mounts rack is much better, and less expensive.

Hello, when I received the hitch it was packaged extremely well. It went together easy and all the tools that I needed came with it. Putting the bikes on it is extremely easy also.

Wonderful bike rack. So easy to load and unload the bikes. Easy to flip up when not in use. Not too difficult to install and uninstall from the receiver. Nice lock design. Stores away fairly easily in the winter.

- RKY10004
by:

Rack has been awesome. Sturdy and reliable. Couple notes that after driving bumpy dirt roads you’ll need to tighten the bolt through hitch, as it loosens up. Keep the tool in your car so you can do this anytime. Also - if you live in a dry climate the buttons can become a bit sticky to raise/lower the tire arms. Spray a bit of WD-40 in there once in a while to keep the parts smooth. Other than that, works like a charm!

- RKY10004
by:

Great product. Easy and quick to load/unload bikes. Versatile - works great with both road bikes and comfort/hybrid bikes with different size wheels/tires.

- RKY10004
by:

Much easier and faster to load than the hanging type of bike racks. Sturdy construction, wish they would make these out of aluminum so they weren’t so heavy though. Overall great product.

- RKY10004
by:

Very nice rack for the money, comparable to kuat/yakimas costing $200+ more. Thought i was going to regret not getting a unit with quick adjustable sliding trays but I've not needed them once after a year of throwing different sized bikes. Fits everything from the skinny tires on the road bike (even has little slots for them) to the 3" big meat on the mtb. Only negative would be the less than elegant appearance of the handle but it's easily forgotten about. Function > form but it still looks great a year later after being exposed to harsh AZ sun. High quality finish. Would definitely make the same purchase again. And go with the 2" if you are on the fence, it's way more stable than the 1 1/4" I've seen that get pretty wobbly with two bikes on them.

I did a lot of research on what type of bike rack to purchase and felt very good about ordering the RockyMounts bike rack based on online reviews by various "experts" and customer reviews. I also read so many good things about etrailer.com that I wanted to order from them. Apparently, there are so many people riding bikes during this pandemic period, that it's difficult to find bike related merchandise - and I did have trouble with finding this particular bike rack, but etrailers had it listed as being available on August 20th - and after I ordered it and waited for what seemed like an eternity (only because I was so excited!), it did indeed arrive exactly on the 20th. Other companies simply had it listed as "out of stock" and did not give any type of availability date. Based on the reviews, I felt confident that etrailer would follow through on the information they listed online. I love the bike rack and plan to get a lot of use out of it. The assembly instructions were very clear and simple. It's not as pretty as some other racks (if a bike rack can be pretty), but it is sturdy and I especially like that it is a lighter weight and has a convenient handle to put it down so I can access the hatch door of my mini-van easily. I'm very happy with it!

- RKY10004
by:

I love my rack. That said, the front wheel “clamp” has slipped a few times. Luckily no bike was lost into traffic but have found that a little strap at the place the clamp meets the tire assures safety

- RKY10004
by:

This has been a very easy bike rack to use. I only had one problem where the bike fell off the rack because it didn't lock properly. Just make sure the button pops out when putting the hook over your tire and you will be fine. I had a different bike rack before and the bikes scratched the back of the SUV and the rack was more flimsy. I love this bike rack.

- RKY10004
by:

Really solid bike rack. Easy to use and folds up tight to the tailgate. Highly recommend.

- RKY10004
by:

Easy assembly. Rack seems to be durable. Making trip from Pennsylvania to Florida in a few weeks so that will be the true test.

One of the better decisions I made. Besides using it locally it has made two 1300 mile trips to Florida and back. Would definitely recommend this product.

The RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack part # RKY10004 will work just fine with a front mount hitch on a 2018 Ford F-150, the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C31083 is a no-drill option and what I recommend. Not many bike racks that can accommodate heavy e-bikes with fat tires can be used on a travel trailer, due to all the bouncing and rattling it'll be subjected to, but we do offer a carrier that would work for you. I'd recommend the Swagman E-Spec, part # S94FR. When equipped with the optional # S64679 fat bike cradles, the E-Spec can easily handle 2 63 lb e-bikes with fat tires up to 5 inches wide on your travel trailer. The # S64679 includes 2 cradles, so for 2 bikes, you'll...

  • Bike Rack For A Motorhome That Can Convert From 2-Bike to 3-Bike Carrier
The bike rack that is most similar to the Swagman Esacpee S64693 is the RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting - Wheel Mount # RKY10004. This secures the bikes by the front wheel just like the Swagman does. A really cool feature is the built-in tilting mechanism which allows access to the rear cargo door or trunk on your vehicle; removal of the bikes is not required to tilt. The weight capacity is 60lbs per bike and it can hold up to 5" wide tires, making it an...

  • Can RockyMounts MonoRail 2-Bike Rack Carry 2 Lectric Step Thru E-Bikes?
Yes! The RockyMounts MonoRail 2-Bike Rack # RKY10004 can carry two Lectric XP Step Thru Bikes. Just make sure to take off the battery when transporting. In fact it's always wise to remove E-bike batteries since the road vibrations and bounces on any bike rack are not good for long-term battery life. Since you have fat tires, make sure to use the included strap extender. Also, your Lectric bikes have that slight fender in the front. It's short enough to use the front wheel mount, but...

  • Fitment of RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack
The RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack, # RKY10004,has a spec of up to 120lb. with max weight per bike of 60 lbs. Max tire width of 5". Dimensions are determined from the distance of center of hitch pin hole to the closest part of rack when folded up is 5-3/4". Please measure this distance on your specific hitch to determine fitment.

  • Could RockyMounts MonoRail Fit and Clear Rear Spare Wheel of 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler
The RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack # RKY10004 has quite a bit clearance to fit past the rear spare of your 2018 Jeep JL Wrangler as it has 11 inches from the center of the hitch pin to the nearest edge of the rack. You'd need to measure from the pin hole out to your rear spare edge and as long as it's less than 11 inches you'd be good.

  • Compatibility of 2-1/2 Inch Hitch Receiver with Bike Rack
The RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting - Wheel Mount # RKY10004 will not directly fit your 2-1/2 inch hitch even with a reducer sleeve because of the threaded pin. I recommend using the Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender - 2-1/2" to 2" Trailer Hitch - 7" Long # HR26 which will allow for the bike rack anti-rattle and security to fully function as designed. I do recommend the XL Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2-1/2" Hitches - 3-1/2" Span # SHP2040-XL

  • Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack that Allows Rear Hatch to Open on a 2004 Chevy Tahoe
I do have some great options that will work with your 2004 Chevy Tahoe but based on my calculations and some information gathered from similar racks it is possible that you will not be able to open the rear hatch on your Tahoe with the RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10004 tilted. What I recommend is a swing-away rack such as the RockyMounts BackStage 2 # RKY10002. With this style bike rack you can swing the bikes off to the side of the vehicle which will allow you to open the rear hatch....

  • Can RockyMounts MonoRail 2 Carry Two Electric Bikes on 2016 Ford Edge Titanium?
Yes! The RockyMounts MonoRail 2 # RKY10004 is a great rack for your electric bikes. I actually just installed one recently on a 2020 Jeep Cherokee which I attached a video review for below if you want to see how it looks on an SUV. With a capacity of 60 lbs per bike, this can carry your 55 lb bikes. Another great feature is the option to expand to three bikes with the # RKY10005 for when you want to upgrade. I haven't test fitted this rack on a Ford Edge yet, but one thing you should...

  • RockyMounts Platform Bike Rack that can Be Used at the Rear of a Motorhome
Since you are wanting to install a bike rack at the rear of your motorhome you should note that the RockyMounts WestSlope # RKY10222 is not rated for use at the rear of a motorhome due to how rough of a ride quality is back there. RockyMounts does have the MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack # RKY10004 which is really similar that is rated for use at the rear of a motorhome. This rack has a distance of 11 inches from the center of it's hitch pin hole to the nearest wheel tray which is about...

  • Recommended Bike Rack for a 2019 Honda CR-V
The options to carry bikes on your 2019 Honda CR-V are the roof (which you said you don't want), a trailer hitch (which you don't currently have), or on the trunk. The trunk mount appears to be your obvious option. Putting a trunk mount rack onto SUVs with a rear hatch can sometimes be tricky; however, the Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top, part # HRF2, is the clear solution. It has a high-rise frame which reaches over the top of the hach and the spoiler. A lot of racks either don't sit...
