Specs:
The RockyMounts MonoRail platform-style rack lets you easily carry 2 bikes using your 2" hitch. Ratcheting arms and adjustable wheel straps secure your bikes without contacting the frame. A front-mounted release lever allows you to tilt the rack down and gain access to your vehicle's rear cargo area, or it can fold the rack up for a simple storage solution. The included hitch lock secures the rack to your vehicle, and an integrated cable lock secures your bikes to the rack.
The rack allows you to quickly and easily load and carry 2 bikes on the back of your vehicle. The ratcheting arms securely hold your bikes by the front wheels so there's no frame contact. Simply push the button on the hook and slide it firmly into place over the front wheel. The wheel hooks are coated for grip and work with tire diameters up to 29".
The pivoting rear-wheel cradle allows the rack to accommodate bikes with wheel bases up to 48" long. The cradles include ratcheting, rubber straps to hold your bike's rear wheels securely in place on the tray.
The MonoRail also comes with a wheel strap extensions that attach to the standard ratcheting straps to increase the usable length and secure wider tires. This allows the cradles to hold fat bike tires up to 5" wide.
The front and back trays adjust 3" side-to-side to ensure you have enough space when loading your bikes. Just remove the bolts where the tray attaches to the bottom of the rack, slide the trays left or right to achieve the desired spacing, and then reinstall the bolts. This will prevent your bikes' handlebars from becoming tangled, and it eliminates the fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.
The front-mounted release lever allows you to easily tilt the MonoRail. The rack tilts down with or without your bikes loaded for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area
The lever also lets you fold the rack up for storage when you're not transporting the bikes. This is great for parking in places where space is limited such as a parking garage.
The MonoRail installs quickly and easily with a threaded, anti-rattle hitch pin. Simply slide the shank into your 2" hitch receiver, insert the threaded hitch pin, and tighten it down with the included tool. This will reduce noise and movement while the rack is installed.
The rack comes with a hitch lock and a cable lock to deter theft of both the rack and your bikes. The cable lock wraps around your bikes' frames and secures to the rack with the included lock core.
The hitch lock simply snaps onto the hitch pin and locks in place. The cable and hitch lock are keyed alike, so you'll only need 1 key for both locks.
There is an optional 1-bike add-on available (sold separately) for the RockyMount MonoRail that will allow you to convert it from a 2 bike carrier to a 3-bike carrier. This is great for occasions when an extra friend wants to tag along.

Speaker 1: Today, we'll be taking a look at the RockyMounts Monorail Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack, part number: RKY10004.This is a platform-style bike rack that lets you carry up to two bikes of different designs on your vehicle without any frame contact. We're going to achieve that by our wheel hooks at the front of tires. These wheel hooks are going to fit around our tire and are adjustable, up and down. They'll also ratchet in to place and can move to the front or back. The back tire's going to be secured with a cam-buckle strap. You'll see here we're using the extra, additional strap for our fat tire bike. To release it, we'll just push on the blue tab. To tighten it, well just pull straight down. The wheel cradles are going to accommodate bikes from road bikes all the way up to fat tire bikes with a tire width of five inches.
This is going to be due to the deep and wide design of our cradles. One of the key features of this bike rack is our tilting feature. We can do this with our bikes fully loaded. We're going to have a conveniently placed handle here at the back that we can pull out on, unlike some other bike racks where you'll have to reach in between our bikes to pull out any pins or clips or use any levers. In most cases, this will give us full access into the back cargo area of our vehicle. When you've gotten everything out of your cargo area, simply lift up until our bike rack clicks back into place. The Monorail is going to come with an included bike lock that wraps around the frames of your bikes and secures to your bike rack.
This is going to secure to our lock boss with a lock on the end that is key-to-like to the lock on our hitch pin.Our bike rack is going to be secured at our hitch with an anti-rattle bolt and lock on the end. This will work with two-inch by two-inch receiver tube openings only. With that anti-rattle bolt completely tightened down, it's going to keep a lot of shake and play out of the bike rack as you head down the road. The Monorail is going to have a maximum weight capacity of 60 pounds per bike. From the center of our front cradle to the center of our back, we're going to measure 12 inches. Our maximum wheel base for this bike rack is going to be 48 inches.
The maximum tire width is going to be five inches. With our bike rack in the platform position, from the center of our hitch pinhole to the closest point is going to measure 11 inches. From the center of our hitch pinhole to the closest point when our bike rack is folded up is going to measure six-and-one-quarter inches. Now, one bike rack that our customers our comparing the Monorail to is the Thule T2 Classic. They're going to share a lot of the same features like no frame contact, being fat bike compatible, and tilting away as well as up against our vehicle. Some of the key differences between our two bike racks is that the Classic will have sliding cradles, where the Monorail has tilting cradles. The T2 Classic is a little more difficult to tilt away from our vehicle with our bikes loaded because of the pin and lever near the hitch, unlike the convenient lever on the Monorail, which is at the back of our bike rack. Now, we've gone ahead and removed our bikes just to go over a couple more features, like how we can fold our bike rack up into a more compact position. Here at our front cradle, you're going to hear and feel that click, which we like a lot because you'll know that it's stuck into place.
You're not going to have to worry about that coming loose whenever you're driving down the road.We can take our hook, lower that just a bit, and bring it back to the opposite side. Then we can take our strap and secure that into place.Once we have our bike rack folded up, we can come to our conveniently located handle again and fold this up against our vehicle. This is going to be convenient when your bike rack is not in use.On each tray, we can loosen up the four bolts with our included tool and move our trays side to side by three inches to maximize our bike spacing. Now, that we've gone over some features, we're going to show you how to get this installed. We'll start by taking our bike rack and placing it into our hitch to line up our hitch pinholes. Now, we can take our anti-rattle bolt and we're going to start to tighten that down. Can use our included tool or a 13/16th socket to tighten it down the rest of the way. Once we have that tightened down, we can place on our lock. Lock it into place. Now, we can come to our hook, push that all the way out. Now, we can undo our strap here at the back. We're going to push down on the blue tab and pull up. Then, we can take the included fat tire adapter strap, since we are putting our fat tire here at the back. We'll feed the strap through and place that off to the side. Here at the front, we can open up our front cradle and we're ready to load up our bike. We'll take our fat tire bike and place it into our wheel cradles. Then, we can take our hook at the front. Now, we want to place our hook and avoid any shocks or brakes. Now, we can take our strap, place it between the spokes on our bike and secure it through the cam. We can repeat that same process for our second bike. Now, we've got both of our bikes loaded up, we're going to take our included cable lock and we're going to feed these through the frame. We can loop it back into itself. We'll connect our cable lock to the lock boss. Take our lock and lock it onto the end.Now that we have our bikes secured down and locked into place, let's take this out on our test course and see how it performs. Here, on our test course, we'll start by going through the slalom. This is going to show us the side-to-side action, which simulates turning corners or evasive maneuvers.Once we get to the alternating speed bumps, we'll see the twisting action. This will simulate hitting a curb or pothole, or driving over uneven pavement.Once we get to the full speed bumps, we'll see the up-and-down action. This will be just like driving in and out of a parking lot, garage, or driveway. That's going to be our completed look at the RockyMounts Monorail Platform-Style 2-Bike Rack, part number: RKY10004.

Platform-style rack has ratcheting hooks and large wheel cradles to carry a variety of bike styles - no frame contact. Front-mounted lever lets you tilt rack with bikes loaded for rear cargo area access and fold it up for storage. Includes locks.First, a review of: etrailer.com: I chose to order my RockyMounts Bike Rack from etrailers.com because of their excellent, VERY detailed videos which show installing and using the rack. The videos also include an outside camera view of the rack as the vehicle drives around a test course which simulates various driving situations. Side to side maneuvers, speed bumps, etc. Once I made the purchase, etrailer.com was very prompt in sending me a confirmation of my order, and letting me know when the order shipped. They also followed up with me once the rack was delivered. I couldn't be more happy with etrailer.com and will always look to them first should I ever need to purchase any other type of car racks. And now, a review of the RockyMounts bike rack: I am also VERY happy with the RockyMounts Monorail 2 Bike Platform Rack. The bikes are extremely easy to load and once loaded are rock-solid. There was minimal (if any) movement of the bikes on the rack as I traveled. I have a Chrysler Pacifica minivan and getting into the back of the van *without* having to take the bikes off the rack was a critical feature. The RockyMounts rack makes this easy by tilting the platform down using the blue handle under the platform. The platform release is at the front of the platform, as you face it, so there are *no* gymnastics required to release the the platform. Just bend over, pull the lever towards you, tilt the bikes down, and that's it. I'm into the back of my minivan in under 15 seconds! I've owned three other style bike racks over the years – trunk mount, roof mount, and trailer hitch where the bikes hang down off a bar. The RockyMounts Platform Rack is definitely the easiest to load, and definitely the most stable rack of all these. I couldn't be happier with the rack. 721950
The bike rack arrived in just three days..Instructions for assembly were very easy and the tools to put it together were included. It rides on the back of the MDC superbly, looks great, and is very easy to operate. Like another customer, I would have like the lock to be a bit more substantial, but it's functional. Truly pleased with the overall look, feel, and functionality. I would recommend it to anyone with one of two bikes to transport and I will probably get the add-on for the additional bike just in case. 702831
I just received this bike carrier today. Amazingly fast delivery. Simple assembly. I loaded bikes without a problem. The tilt works easily and allows ample access to the interior of my 2015 Grand Cherokee. Took a test drive and didn't notice any rattling or other unusual sounds. The first impression is all positive. Thanks eTrailer for your video reviews which helped greatly in making my purchase decision . 564674
I still love it.
This rack rocks! Has been used on 3 different vehicles, one which went nearly 5000 miles with 2 bikes on the whole time. Zero problems so far. Have had 2 29” mtb bikes on it; have had road bikes on it; and have had 20” and 24” kid bikes. All fit great. Have purchased add on kit for a third bike but haven’t used it yet. 678593
Went together easily, works as advertis ed. 491503
Still no regrets with this purchase!
Easy to assemble, very sturdy yet light weight 551283
The product was along my wishes. Certainly to recommend to anyone. Maybe a better manuel to explain concerning the straps was the only remark I could find. 579369
First, etrailer is a fantastic retailer. Their videos are very informative and absolutely influenced my decision on both product and retailer. Super-fast shipping was a nice bonus. On to the carrier. I read many reviews and watched dozens of videos to help me. Here's what I came up with: 1: Value - this was by-far, the best bang for the buck. Not only was this the best price on this particular carrier, it is the best deal on a premium-quality unit with great versatility and wonderful features typically reserved for units hundreds of dollars more expensive. 2: Super solid. The locking anti-locking hitch pin eliminates side-to-side sway entirely. The locking arms and wheel straps do a fantastic job in keeping the bikes from wobbling. One note:. Thinner tires will be allowed an inch or so of travel due to the width of the locking arms and front wheel chock. Nothing that caused concern, though. 3: Easy assembly (though the paper instructions never mention the assembly of the wheel straps on the rear tray) 4: Tilt mechanism is the most convenient of any tray-type carrier. It worked great and the release if located right in hands reach. 5: fold-up is very effective and easy. Also comes in handy for storage in the garage. 6: expandable to accommodate 3 bikes. Overall, I am very satisfied with the quality of this unit and especially at this sale price. My wife has thanked me a dozen times already for replacing our old hanger-style carrier. This configuration makes it so much easier for her to mount her bike so she can ride with or without me. 454349
We've had our bike rack a year now and find it very convenient to use and strong. The one problem I have is that when I have both bikes on and tilt it down to get into the trunk of our Subaru Outback, I can't lift it back up if it's in the locked position. I must have my husband do that. Having to ask him makes me feel like a whimp and in general, I'm pretty strong. I still gave it a 5 star because it's easy to load both bikes and it folds down nicely so it doesn't protrude out the back when no bikes are on it. 635062
Well built, solid bike rack. Like the additional strap extensions for fat bikes. Holds bike well. Only minor issue was that instructions did not reference the rear wheel straps, but easy to figure out. I like that the rack tilt allows access to the rear hatch of my Subaru Forester. 475321
working out great. Had issue with partial melt of one of the shepards hook melting due to proximity to my car exhaust. Able to get new part from manufacturer, repositioned hook, and all has been well since
Rack and hitch (Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" - 75560 - bought separately) came in perfect condition. Hitch was a little difficult to install but this had more to do with my car being 12 years old. Pro tip: lube the muffler hangers with WD40 and get some ramps to give you room under car to work. Quality is excellent. The rack itself is awesome. I fit my sons 24" MTB and my medium full suspension on there in under 60 seconds. I did have to adjust the tray to avoid some interference but that only took a minute or two. The rack is very solid and well built. Little to no wobble on the way to the trails which included a bumpy access road. Excellent value for the $ compared to racks with similar features. 572585
Loving this rack! 528080
Exceptionally solid hitch mount / tray platform type bicycle carrier. I The instructions were very clear and complete - with one exception of the the tray straps and strap extenders (not shown/mentioned). Some basic assembly was required - again the directions were very clear and everything need was supplied in the package. I took my time and it only took 15 minutes. The bike rack is outstanding in design, quality of materials, construction and function. It's very solid in all 3 positions (carrying bikes, laid 'down' to open the tailgate, and 'stowed' in the up/close position when not carrying bikes. I've had bike racks from other 'big name' vendors - this Rocky Mounts rack is much better, and less expensive. 522596
Well built and easy to assemble. My only complaint is that you need the provided wrench to remove. Other brands offer a tool free way to take the rack off and put back on. 689945
I highly recommend etrailer for their good service, best prices, and super fast shipping. I will use them for all of my bike hauling needs. 729126
This rack is on the back of my 2008 24' Winnebago View. After traveling 7500 miles with two precious bikes on this rack, I can say it works, very well. One is a carbon frame and it is protected. The rack is on the heavy side but I can manage it solo. Loading and unloading bikes is quick and easy. Really great bike rack. It also works really well on my 2012 Honda CRV. 719063
We love our bike rack. Very user friendly and fits very nicely on the back of our truck. We feel that our bikes are very secure on the back. 696876
The Rockymounts Monorail 2 rack was easy to assemble with excellent instructions. Bike loading and unloading was a breeze. I have many bikes of different tire sizes that this accommodates well. Tilting the rack away for vehicle access was really easy.Stows on the vehicle and or in the garage nicely. If it had a tool-less hitch pin and heavier duty locks and I would have given it 5 stars. 695544
Exactly what I was looking for. Easy on and off for bike. 669325
This is the best value, feature and quality hitch mount. I bought a hanging unit that took me like 25 minutes to setup and load. This thing takes 5 minutes to load 2 bikes and install. It accepts fat bike tires 5" wide (and provides the extended straps free (Kuat doesn't) . The 2" version allows you to add another platform for 3 bikes total if needed in the future. The bike lock for the wheel and the wheel cups are high quality and are quick and easy to secure. I would say save $250 and take this over the highend version of Kuat. Plus if you buy the 1 bike extender the rocky mounts is cheaper too. The mount loads onto my equinox and sonata both very easily and the trucks/hatches can open no problems. 655343
This products was delivered rapidly after being ordered, so CUSTOMER SERVICE was EXCELLENT! The product was easily assembled and installed. The design and construction is robust, well designed, easy to operate, and relatively light weight as compared to some other car racks. Loading and securing the bikes is easy. This design is well suited to a “step-through” bike frame. We are VERY happy with this purchase. 633793
Quite happy with the bike rack. Easy to assemble and the light weight makes it easy to mount. I use it both on my car for local rides and on a small rv for trips. Easy to load and unload the bike, a fat tire Ebike with the ability to carry another bike for a friend. 614125
Good quality and easy to use. 611861
Very happy with the product beautiful bike rack!!! 598730
The rack was shipped quickly and arrived in good condition. Assembly was straightforward and not difficult. I haven't used the rack yet but will use it on two vehicles and will carry heavy e-bikes, one being a fat tire bike. 595699
Quick delivery and very nice product! 585193
Amazing service and super quick shipping all thumbs up. Great product. I need a platform model to carry a recumbent bike. Mission accomplished. Comes partially assembled. Easy to assemble. Great quality hardware. Great quality paint/power coating on the product. My five star rating was due to 1. the supper quick delivery time and 2. The knowledge of the salesman on the size wheels the rack can accommodate. 3. the overall quality of the product. 515465
Very sturdy bike hauler. Was not difficult to assemble, just follow provided instructions. Previously used a “hanging” style bike hauler, this is much faster, without bikes bumping each other or moving. Highly recommend this unit! 514902
I received the RockyMount MonoRail 2 Bike Platform Rack 2 inch today. I loaded the bikes on it and was pleased that it was as solid as advertised. The assembly instructions made the task very easy. When I was in the process deciding which brand rack to purchase, I had a couple conversations with the folk at RockyMounts who were very helpful. 503516
Received RM MonoRail 2 bike Rack and immediately installed on vehicle. Install took about 20 minutes and was easy. I loaded my 2 heaviest bikes on rack and drove over rough conditions on purpose. Very little shake and no rattle like my previous rack. NO damage to bikes at all. Plenty of space between bikes and tailgate of vehicle. Drop down of bikes when loaded is a big plus. Overall great value for a quality rack! 484300

Really like this bile rack, it is easy to put on the hitch, hold the bikes secure and like the handle to raise the hitch up. Hitch had a cracked brace but call Rocky Mount and sent a replacement part. 646517
Review from a similar RockyMounts MonoRail in Hitch Bike Racks
RockyMount makes a quality, full-featured bike rack at a very reasonable price. Rack accommodates any size tire, carries 3 bikes (extender for third bike included, as shown), bikes lock down tight and don't move much on dirt roads, rack tilts up easily when not in use, and down when loaded in order to access trunk, comes with a detached cable that can be locked to the frame, and a keyed security nut that locks the rack to the hitch receiver. I am very happy with this bike rack. It pairs very well with my Curt Trailer hitch and my 2016 Hyundai Tucson. Great package from etrailer.com, and they were one of the more outstanding online retailers I've ever dealt with. They have my business now. 493295
Second mountain biking season and this rack is great. Figure Ill still be hauling our bikes on it in another 10 years. It will probably last longer than several cars! Thanks for your great service and really tight operation. My review and recommendations stand, 100.
