I recently swapped out the stock 2" receiver for a 2-1/2" to allow me to purchase and use this extension to get past the end of my Lance 1010 Camper. I believe I will have no issues now towing any trailer (within allowable spec's) or carrying my motorcycle carrier. Great quality piece. can't wait to try it out...

Excellent! After a year of use still happy I purchased this product...Had to cut it to match the length of my campers overhang but it is perfect now....

Excellent product. Easy to use. I recommend finding someone with a metal band saw to cut to length. I cut mine with a sawzaw metal blade and finished it with a high grit sanding disc and it turned out ok- not perfect. I towed my boat behind my truck with the camper on it and it worked good. I’ve also attached my motorcycle rack with my 2013 ktm 450. To be on the safe side calculate your tounge weight before towing.

This hitch extension is perfect for using with our truck camper to pull the jeep and ATV. We even had an icy jack knife earlier this year in Colorado and the hitch held up splendidly!

This extender works great with our 2019 Ford F350 when using our 9'6" truck camper so we can use our bike rack or tow a trailer. Nice product, great etrailer selection and info once again!

Really well made, robust, and finished nicely. If you have a camper that extends well beyond your rear bumper, this is the best solution I've found for towing. So far I've used it for only one trip, but it was multiple thousands of miles. It was out of sight, out of mind, which is the way it should be.

- C45048
by:

Absolutely the correct product for my needs. This fit perfectly beneath my Lance truck camper enabling me to haul a 16 foot trailer behind. All the holes matched up to my Dodge RAM 3500 receiver, and because the full length was necessary, no cutting was required. This was, by far, the least expensive bar at this length. Delivery was fast. I have no complaints--only good things to say. Thanks.

CURT C45048 HITCH EXTENSION I drive a 2011 GMC 3500HD with an S&S 9.5 slide in camper. I needed an extension to be able to tow my boat behind the truck/camper. I saw this extension was on sale w/free shipping. I ordered on Sunday 9/10 and received it on Wednesday 9/13. The extension looks very heavy duty and it slipped right inside my vehicle receiver. The extension protrudes about 4" past the camper bumper. PERFECT! All of the welds look like quality welds. I just need to mount my trailer harness and I will be ready to go! Great service, great prices & delivery!

Exactly as described and I custom tethered it to the camper bumper for more stability. I did have to drill out the pin hole a little as it did not line up 100% to get the pin inserted, but it is going to work very well.

Does what it's supposed to. I got it to tow my 3000lb boat when I have my pickup camper on. With this I don't have to crawl under the camper to hook up the boat. I did a 1600 mile round trip a few weeks ago with no problems.

Product is heavy duty, and, tho I haven't used it yet, I expect great results like previous reviewers. Price was good and customer service dealt quickly and favorably on a small issue I had. I did have to cut 1 1:2 inches off to make it fit in front of my spare, but that was no surprise because I read that other buyers had dealt with the same issue. Chevy/GMC trucks spare tires get in the way a bit. Very satisfied. Have bought from etrailer in the past and don't think they can be beat. Thanks to Caleb for his help.

I use this to extend my hitch under my slide-in truck camper to mount a bike rack behind the camper. It's the perfect size for that! Extension is very stable and solid. Very happy with it!

- C45048
by:

Received hitch extension as promised. The longest hole did not line up with hole in the factory bumper as it was too long and hit on the spare tire. Had to cut about 1" off the align with holes in the bumper and the extension. Product looks good on the vehicle, have yet to try it out with a trailer, but don't anticipate any problems. The wiring harness extension wouldn't fit through the hole in the mounting plate so had to unwire, then pass through the hole, then rewire the plug to be able to mount it to the extension. Looks good now tho.

- C45048

We bought this extender as an alternative to a 'Super Hitch' that would have cost 4 times as much. Our need was to pull a 17 foot fiberglass boat behind our pickup with a truck bed camper that extended out a couple feet of the box. We pulled that boat about 4,000 miles this summer, and this hitch worked great. Unless you are pulling something with a lot of weight, this hitch is the answer to your problems!

- C45048
by:

Hitch extension needed for 3/4 ton truck with truck camper mounted with tailgate down. Great product. 25 inch extension after cutting off end. Easy to add safety chains to anchor to truck. Now can bring extra gear in covered 5x8 trailer.

- C45048
by:

Extender was as advertised, I inserted it into my hitch, measured twice, then cut it off on the line indicated for 24 inch length. Used a metal cutting blade in my 71/2 circular saw and didn't take much time or effort. Noticed that the holes for the pin didn't quite line up, the pin wouldn't slide thru, on both the 24 inch hole or the 34 inch hole. I took a drill and 1/2 inch bit and slightly reamed out the holes. Once done, the pin slipped right thru. My TC is a Lance 1010, 10 foot long. The end of the extender is several inches back under the bumper step of the camper, and when the stinger is put in place, the hitch ball is three to four inches away from the bumper. It looks just right.

- C45048
by:

Just what you need to extend your 2 1/2" truck receiver for a 2" hitch. Well made with good welds and paint. This has a slight up bend in the middle which is helpful. I use it to extend my Ram 3500 class 5 hitch when I have my 10'2" truck camper mounted. Pay close attention to the weight rating which is clearly displayed. You can cut this to make a 24" extension or use it as is for a 34" extension.

- C45048
by:

Extension solved our problem of the camper overhang obstructing the trailer hitch. There is some side to side movement with all the assembled components, which can be tightened up by various devices (shim accessories etc.) Manufacturer states that a bit of slop is expected and safe and we have seen no problem with this issue.

- C45048
by:

First off it was the best price out there. High quality and very nice to even look at. It's all setup for the purpose it was designed. The shipping time was well within reason. When I have a need in the future, this will be my first stop. I'd leave a picture but I have some work to be done on my truck before actually mounting. I was worried I wouldn't be able to find an extended hitch this long after having bought my new camper. It was longer than expected but Curt and etrailer filled the bill.

- C45048
by:

I recieved the hitch extension very quickly and the order process was very easy. The extension was exactly like advertised and installed easily. I plan on using the extension to tow my jeep on a tow bar and it hitched up perfectly. The only problem that I have with the product is that I only needed a 24" extension but had to order this one that also does 34". It would have been nicer to have been able to order a 24" and not cut off and waist 10" from this unit.

- C45048
by:

Great looking product. Seems heavy enough to do the job. Will have to cut off about 3/4 of an inch at hitch end to fit in my 2014 Silverado 2500 HD hitch without hitting the spare. Haven't used yet, but purchased for use with my truck camper and towing my 1987 Samurai or car hauler trailer and Model As.

Good adaptor but must use a 2" receiver piece to hook into the main hitch.

  • Can Hitch Extender be Used With Truck Bed Load Extender
It is possible to use a hitch extender to get some added clearance along with a truck bed load extender like the Darby Extend-A-Truck Hitch Mounted Load Extender # DTA944 or Erickson Big Bed Load Extender # EM07600. Just make sure to keep in mind that hitch extenders are adapters, and they will reduce the capacity of your trailer hitch by 50 percent, including the tongue weight. So you may not be able to use the full capacity of the truck bed extenders, but if you just need it for lighter...

According to my research, the 2015 Ford Super Duty only comes with a 2-1/2" receiver tube so it does not appear that the TorkLift Cannon Hitch Extension will work for you. Instead, you would want to consider the Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer part # C45048 which measures 34" from hitch pin to hitch pin and has a 6,000 lb weight capacity...

Thank you very much for your question, I recommend the Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches - 24" to 34" Long # C45048. I would measure how far the Lance Camper hangs over the back of the truck so we can make a more accurate recommendation to how many inches of clearance you will need.
