Thanks Jason, I read your answer. I believe I can use my weight distribution hitch with this setup and achieve a trailer weight of 8000lbs. However, I need a drop hitch with another 4 - 5 " compared to the one in the picture. I believe this is either a Husky or a Curt trunion (flat rods). Can you recommend a compatible drop hitch?

The Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer for 2-1/2" Trailer Hitches - 24" to 34" Long # C45048 is the best extension we carry for your need. However, it is limited to 6,000 lbs when extended 24 inches, so it will not work for your application. You will need to go with the Superhitch. If you let me know your model year, I can give you a recommendation.
