Question:
2020 Ford F350 Dually with a 9’6” slide in camper. I need a 30” extension for a Cargo box/rear porch hitch. Can this be cut to any length between 24” and 34”? If so, how does the pin line up in the truck hitch? Do you have to drill? Thx in advance.

Hey Dale, thanks for the picture! That's a real nice setup you have!
The Curt Hitch Extension and Reducer item # C45048 is designed to only be cut down to 24" long. There's a sticker on the extender that identifies exactly where to cut it for the bolt holes to line up.
It is not recommend to cut the Curt item # C45048 down to 30" and drill new holes. You'll void the warranty and since it's not designed for that kind of modification there's no way of knowing what the capacity of the extension would be.
The Curt item # C45048 fits a 2-1/2" receiver and reduces down to 2". At it's 34" long length it has a 4,500 lbs towing capacity and 450 lbs tongue weight capacity. At 24" long it has a 6,000 lbs capacity and 600 lbs tongue weight capacity.
How heavy is your cargo box when it's fully loaded and what make and model is it?

I cut mine at 24 inches and it work great. I tow a cargo trailer with a Honda Talon, all in about 4K lbs and my camper on the truck.

Fully loaded, its maybe 200lbs. I can't find an extension that gets it close enough to the bumper to use it as a porch. I purchased a Torklift Cannon from ya'll but it's 34" and it extends the box too far from the bumper. Any ideas? Thx in advance. R/DH

We purchased the hitch extension to go on a 2010 GMC Sierra. We have a truck camper and added the extension to be able to pull our Jeep. It has worked very well. We did have the extension cut down to 32"
