30 inch Hitch Extender for 2024 Ford F-350 that Can Tow 4,000 lb Trailer

Updated 03/24/2025 | Published 03/08/2025

Question:

I have a 2024 F350 with factory hitch. The inside opening of my hitch is 2.5inch square Do you have a hitch extension for my receiver that will allow me 30inch extension with a 4,000 Lb tow weight and about 350 lbs tongue weight? In your own line information you talk about a 3inch receiver being standard for the 2024 f350. Does that 3inch receiver actually have a 2.5inch inside measurement and a 3inch outside measurement?

Hey Wayne, we have a great solution for you with the Curt hitch extension part # C45048 which fits the 2.5 inch hitch size that your 2024 Ford F-350 has and can be cut down between 24 and 34 inches. In all lengths it has the capacity needed for your 4,000 lb trailer as well.

You have a 2.5 inch hitch size based on the measurement you took. A 3 inch hitch would have shown 3 inches where you measured.

Thank You, Jameson I had looked at that extension and wondered if it might allow minor trailer sway to become more pronounced. Do you think that is an issue at all? Should I add chains and turnbuckles and connect them to the outer side of my receiver by welding on brackets to the receiver for attaching to?

@Wayne An extension has potential to make sway worse but it shouldn't actually cause sway to start when it wasn't there. Is your trailer sitting level currently and does it have enough tongue weight relative to the total trailer weight. Normally you want between 10 and 15 percent of the total trailer weight as tongue weight. The extension actually has safety chain loops built into them but it doesn't have any for it to attach to your hitch. I would say it's probably a good idea to have safety chain loops welded to the trailer like with the part # E950.
