it works very well

by:

Arrived on time, looks strong.

by:

Good fit with minor cutting of bumper

by:

Looks great, especially with the matte finish. I was originally planning on paying a shop to install it, they quoted $200 which seemed fair but I thought I'd just do a quick google "how to" search before commiting and one of the first results was a video by etrailer. It was a very good video, straight to the point, made it seem easy, and it was! Got it installed in less than 90 minutes - $200 saved! Maybe I'll celebrate this with a good hand-tossed pizza.

by:

Installation was more straight forward than I expected. The video really helped. Pulling the plastic body pieces off was pretty scary but it all went back together just fine. As I was working alone & without a lift I used a floor jack to lift the hitch into place and put the bottom 2 bolts in loosely, then lifted the bumper by hand and put 2 bolts through both pieces loosely, and took out the bottom bolts.

2008 Volvo V70

Received the hitch in 3 days including the wiring. Easy to install, a few misses in the instruction, but easy to figure out. Less than an hours work to install.

by:

Took about 2.5 hours to install, but it looks great! Everything is hidden except the actual receiver. Looks very clean and minimal, like it was part of the original car. Highly recommend!

2015 Volvo XC70

It's as promised; strong and sturdy and the install video was so helpful. Thank you and God bless you! It arrived quickly and took about 2 hours to install.

by:

Excellent fit on my 2014 Volvo S60. With a helper this project was all of an hour and a half. There are 5 fender well screws and four additional Torx screws near the muffler. We had to trim the muffler heat shield by a little bit and the bumper cutout by the dimensions shown in the instructions. The spacers were required. All went smooth and looks like factory install. Highly recommend! And etrailer shipped super fast and with great follow up.

2011 Volvo C70

OK, so you guilted me into it. Well, maybe the rainy weekend weather had something to do with it as well but anyway I finally installed the hitch and electrical wiring and everything went off with(out) a hitch (pun intended). Now why didn’t I do that at the beginning of the summer? Thanks again for giving me the push needed to get this done.

2015 Volvo S60

I just finished installing this hitch on my '15.5 S60 and it was about as straight-forward as I could have imagined. The only "gotcha" was that the added depth of the hitch plus spacers cause the bumper bar to just barely fit under the bumper cover, making things a little bit tight to get back together. Despite that I was able to get everything torqued down and back together in about an hour. The finished look is completely acceptable to my eye. Yes, a 2" receiver is a chunky piece of hardware to hang under the bumper but at least that's the only visible part. Having to notch the bumper cover is no big deal, either, since you can't see that without getting under the car. In my mind it's all a miniscule price to pay to add utility to my little sedan.

by:

I called trailer to ensure I was purchasing exactly the correct hitch and was very pleased with the person I spoke with. She was pleasant, knowledgeable and assured me that this hitch would fit my car. 4 days later, the hitch arrived, well packed and imagine, all of the hardware was there too. The hitch is well built and well finished. I’m happy with my purchase.

2011 Volvo XC70

Well made product, though looks like it was repainted after manufacture. Great price. Very easy to install on my Volvo XC70 alone. Took about 90 minutes (thanks to etrailer's YouTube video) Have used it for Yakima swing daddy 4 bike rack. Solid!

by:

I was intimated by the prospect of installing this trailer hitch on my 2015 Volvo V60 wagon- although I'm relatively handy I don't do any work on cars. After watching the video and reading through the instructions I dove in. one hour and twenty minutes later the car was completely reassembled and my hitch bike rack was ready to go!

the receiver looks great on my car, and I'm excited about the prospect of using my hitch mounted bike rack in the future.

Volvo S60

Installed the hitch this weekend on my S60. Great instructions. Everything lined up perfectly. Only took us about 50 minutes to install. Most of the time was spent fretting over pulling the bumper fascia off. Looks great on the car. Towed my trailer later in the day. Excellent!

My son and I installed this over the weekend and it went off without a (insert pun here). The video we followed was great and I'll definitely be coming back as a repeat customer.

  • How to Add 7-Way to 2013 Volvo XC70
Hi Steve; the Curt # 13266 doesn't change the fitment of the bumper cover. Everything still fits as intended and looks the same once the installation is complete. The little bit of extra material doesn't impact anything in a negative way. If you don't already have a 4-way you will need to add one using the # C56386. Once you have a 4-way installed you will need the # ETBC7 you were looking at to upgrade to a 7-way.

  • Recommended Class III Hitch and 4-Way Wiring Harness for 2015 Volvo XC70
For your 2015 Volvo XC70 I would recommend the Curt # 13266 over the Draw-Tite # 75916. These trailer hitches have an almost identical design. Although the Draw-Tite has a higher towing capacity, it looks like both of the hitches exceed the towing capacity of your vehicle so you will be limited by your vehicle. I would double check the owner's manual to make sure. Both have a concealed cross tube, so you will only see the receiver tube at the back of the vehicle giving it a factory look....

  • Comparing Class II and Class III Curt Hitch for 2018 Volvo V60
Curt offers a Class II hitch part # C12066 and a Class III # 13266 for your 2018 Volvo V60. The big advantage the Class III (2 inch opening) has over the Class II is that more accessories are made for 2 inch hitches so you'll have an easier time fitting racks to the hitch. The advantage a Class II would have is really that the due to the smaller size it might be less visible. The brown Volvo I attached a picture of has the 2 inch hitch and the white has the 1-1/4 inch size mentioned.

  • 2 inch Hitch for 2018 Volvo V60 that Doesn't Require Rear Fascia Trimming
The Curt 2 inch hitch part # 13266 which fits your 2018 Volvo V60 has in the install tech tips that it MAY require trimming of the rear fascia to install. But the other option is to remove the rear fascia altogether and not reinstall it so that would bypass needing to trim.

That means you will have a ground clearance of 11-3/4 inches at the hitch. The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2" # 13266 will be slightly shorter at 13-1/2 inches to the inside top of the receiver giving you 11 inches ground clearance at the hitch. I will be happy to explain the installation of Curt trailer hitch # 13266 for your 2008 Volvo XC70. I have also linked the instructions and a video showing an example installation for you. Step 1 Remove rear bumper fascia. Disconnect back-up sensor wiring if present. Remove (2) fasteners with a T20 Torx bit from the rear of the vehicle. • How Does Install of Curt Hitch on 2016 V60 Cross Country Affect Ground Clearance
The install of the Curt hitch part # 13266 on your 2016 Volvo V60 will reduce your ground clearance by about 3 inches. The install will be identical to what you mentioned seeing in the install video on a 2015 V60 as well. The hitch option we offer that will offer the best ground clearance is the Stealth Hitch part # SH97FRT which has a lower hitch assembly that removes when not in use so that you have a totally unobstructed area.

  • Differences Between Curt Class II # C12066 and Class III # 13266 for 2015 Volvo V60
The two hitches you mentioned are very similar. The only difference is that the # 13266 is a Class III which uses the 2 inch square receiver opening and the # C12600 is a Class II which uses the 1-1/4 inch square receiver opening. Both hitches have a 3500 lb towing capacity, but the Class III has a tongue weight capacity (maximum weight that can be suspended from hitch without damaging anything) of 350 lbs, versus 300 lbs for the Class II. The Class II hitch will have a ground clearance...

  • Is Fascia Trimming Required to Install Hitch on 2017 Volvo V60
Due to the lower fascia design of your 2017 Volvo V60 there isn't a way to install a hitch like the Curt # 13266 without trimming the rear fascia. In regards to the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # 13266, which is a fit for a 2008 - 2016 Volvo XC70 the spacers which go between the vehicle body and trailer hitch are only required on models with a raised edge around the space where the hitch installs. Tongue weight is the downward force put on a hitch by whatever it is carrying. When you're using a hitch for a carrier, like the cargo carrier you're getting or a bike rack, all of the weight on the hitch is tongue weight. The etrailer Motorcycle Carrier, part # e98873, weighs about 58 pounds itself. So between it and the 231 pound motorcycle combined the tongue weight you're trying to carry is about 289 pounds. So even though the Curt hitch part # 13266 has a tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs you'd still be limited to 160 lbs since thats what your 2011 Volvo XC70 is rated for. The reason the hitch is rated higher than the vehicle is because the engineers at Curt designed a hitch to fit the vehicle and then tried to make it as strong as possible and then independently...
