There may be looseness using the extender due to how the receiver hitch was machined. When manufacturer it can happen where the receiver will be on the bigger side of two inches as it may be be exactly two inches. This happens with any kind of accessory. I recommend using an anti rattle device such as part # RSCP and watch the review video below.

Works well, does the job.

by:

I needed a hitch adapter for a bikec rack but all the ones I found were way too long and stuck out too far. This was the only short one I could find. It works great and I drove 2,000 miles with it.

by:

It works just as expected

by:

This etrailer product was the least expensive 1.25" adapter I could find. The product works as advertised but the inside clearance is little large when my bike rack is installed compared to when I install the bike rack on my other vehicle which has a 1.25" receiver hitch. I plan to use a small piece of sheet metal to act a shim in order to take up some of the slack.

by:

Just didn’t get the job done. Still had too much wiggle. Added the clamping device but that still didn’t solve it. Have to return this one and search for another solution.

by:

My bike rack is too small for this adapter. It’s supposed to be 2 inch to 1.25 inch. My hubby measured 1 1/3 inch. My bike rack is 1.25 inch.

hmmm...let me look into this. I am wondering if its a manufacturing error. Be on the lookout for an email!

by:

Pretty simple product. Not much to say. It’s worth it to buy the stabilizer.

by:

Exactly what I needed for my 2020 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited so that I can use my 1 1/4" Thule bikerack on my 2" trailer hitch.

Still works great. Have had it for nearly 4000 miles carrying the bike rack with no issues.

by:

Arrived on time both trailer hitch reducer and lock works perfectly

by:

Wanted this adapter so I could use my 1 1/4" bike rack on my 2" hitch. Sized is reduced by welded steel plates inside the reducer. Poor tolerances. Was more like 1 3/8" inside width, so my 1 1/4" bike rack mount flops over to one side or the other.

I hate to hear that the adapter is not working for your bike rack. I am having our Quality department look into this for you.

by:

Works like a charm, Thanks.

by:

Slipped right over the 1 1/4" hitch without being too big or loose. Perfect for what I needed.

by:

Loose fitting. It was used to fit my bike rack and did not like how it bounced around. I used metal shims to lessen the bounce. Would not recommend.

by:

Exactly what I need . Size was just perfect . Finished outstanding. 100% recommended

by:

This works. I needed to downsize my trailer hitch to accept my smaller hitch sized bike rack. It's a bit wobbly. I was able to help that with some thin plastic "shims"(geri rigged).

by:

This part fits a 2" 2025 Subaru hitch for a Thule T 2- bike rack conversion with minimum distance from bumper to bike rack

by:

Been using this reducer for a year now my my low-profile 2in. hitch and 1-1/4in Thule bike rack, and it’s been great. Have had zero issues with fit or construction.

by:

it is what I needed for my receiver

very well.

by:

Very happy.

by:

Finally had the hitch (with the hitch reducer and anti rattle hitch receiver lock) installed on my 2025 Hyundai Tucson by my mechanic. Have to say I am VERY disappointed with the hitch reducer . My bike holder is as shaky and unstable as ever. I won't even try to put my bike on the holder for fear of the bike holder and bike falling off. Very disappointed with the product. Now I will have to figure out how to stabilize the the holder. I have a fear of having to now spend more money to remove the hitch reducer and purchase a bike holder that fit the the 2"hitch.

by:

Nice construction, but poor tolerance for inside dimension (it’s almost 1 3/8”) Unusable with my Kuat bike rack which is sadly the reason I bought it - bike rack will not firmly attach. Don’t recommend.

by:

Exactly what I needed to accommodate my bike rack. However, since it's only natural that I already have a 5/8"
pin for my existing 2" hitch I didn't require the one included with this reducer. Perhaps offer the pin as an option and reduce the price accordingly.

by:

After ordering this for a bike rack installation I wasn’t happy with the way it worked so I sent it back to be returned for a refund. I never received the refund or any correspondence for the reducer. Please let me know why and what happened.

by:

It works but the 1 1/4" section measures 1 3/8" making a very sloppy fit for my bike rack. I'm securing the 2" side with an anti-rattle pin which works well. There is much more movement in the rack than there was on my old vehicle which had a 1 1/4" receiver. I made a shim from some 1/8" thick aluminum angle which greatly reduced the movement in my rack. Not a very satisfying solution.

  • Ways To Adapt The Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack To Fit A 2" Hitch
Good question! The standard way of adapting the Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" Y67VR to a 2" hitch would be to use something like the etrailer Trailer Hitch Reducer 2" to 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver # e63YR and the Pro Series Lock-Tite Anti-Rattle Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock for 2" Hitches # PS63100 to both lock it and keep it from rattling. What I would do though, is use the Replacement 2" Shank Adapter # 8880612. This technically isn't designed for use with the StageTwo,...

  • Do You Have a 1 1/4" Receiver Hitch for My 2025 Hyundai Kona so I can Use My Bike Rack?
Hello Tim, I take it you already have the bike rack which is why you are looking for the 1 1/4" receiver. We only have the 2" receiver for the 2024 Hyundai Kona but that's ok because we can make it work. If your Kona is the Electric, N Line, and N models you will want the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # C43RV. If your Kona is NOT the Electric, N Line, and N models you will want the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - 2" # C39RV or the Draw-tite one you were looking...

Hi Joe; I'm sorry to say that the only way to convert your Thule T2 Classic to the 2" shank is with the # 753-3581. The 2" shank itself is not available from Thule without the backbone. The only other option is to use a hitch reducer like # e63YR.

Hey Michael, I checked with Thule and they don't make a 2 inch hitch adapter for your Expressway due to the age of the rack. So what you would need is a sleeve reducer like the part # e63YR. For an anti rattle hitch lock that you could use with the adapter part # 63232.

  • How to Use a 1-1/4" Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack w/a 2" Hitch
Hey William, congrats on your new bike rack. To use the 1-1/4" Yakima StageTwo Bike Rack with a 2" hitch, I recommend the Trailer Hitch Reducer 2" to 1-1/4" item # e63YR. This reducer sleeve will insert directly into your 2" receiver and allows you to use 1-1/4" accessories in 2" hitches without reducing the hitch's capacity. You will need to use the Replacement Hitch Bolt item # Y8890200 and the Yakima HitchLock item # Y07235 since you're going to be using a wider 2" receiver than the...

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch for a 2024 Subaru Outback Touring XT
Curtis, it does look like the only hitches offered for a 2024 Subaru Outback Wagon like # DT73RR are going to be class III hitches which are going to have 2" receivers. If it's an accessory you're trying to use that only works with a 1 1/4" hitch then you could just use the Trailer Hitch Reducer # e63YR and you'd be all set.

  • Is there a 1-1/4" Hitch for a 2023 Kia Niro Hybrid?
Allow me to clear up the confusion Bill. I just checked with Draw-Tite and their item # 36600 will not fit the Hybrid model of the 2023 Kia Niro. Just the standard model. For your 2023 Kia Niro Hybrid there are no class I hitches with a 1-1/4" receiver. You'll need to go with the class III 2" Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch item # DT79YR. Usually when people request a 1-1/4" receiver over an existing 2" option they have a bike rack already. With this hitch installed you can use the Trailer...

  • What 2" to 1 1/4" Hitch Adapter Can Be Used with an Anti-Rattle Device?
Hi Bryan, To get the most anti-rattle reduction when using your Thule bike rack, I suggest using the etrailer 2" to 1 1/4" Trailer Hitch Receive Adapter part # e58YR. This adapter will fit inside your receiver and extend out 4 3/8" to give you a 1 1/4" receiver with a sight extension. I recommend using the extension over a sleeve adapter because anti-rattle devices or hitch pins that come with some bike racks are not compatible with the hitch pin hole in sleeve adapters. The extension...

  • Will Trailer Hitch From 2006 Hyundai Tucson Also Fit 2023 Tucson?
Hello Joan, thanks for getting in touch. The hitch for the 2006 Hyundai Tucson, the Curt # C12126, will fit the 2005-2009 Tucson models. So it will not transfer over to the 2023, and you will need a new hitch. For that I recommend the Curt # C94WR. This has a 2" receiver, and this is the only receiver size available for the 2023 Tucson. If need be, you can reduce the receiver down to a 1-1/4" using part # e63YR. What do you plan to use the hitch for? Is it for a bike rack, or are you...

Hey Ed, thanks for reaching out. We do have a riser that fits a 1-1/4" hitch, but it has a 2" receiver on the other end, part # e93YR. So, you would also need a Reducer # e63YR to allow it to accept a 1-1/4" bike rack. Right now, we don't have anything that is 1-1/4" to 1-1/4". • Availability of 2" to 1-1/4" Reducer With Built-In Rise for Bike Rack
Hi LDJ; we have reducers like the # e63YR but none with a built in rise. What you can do is pair it with Gen-Y stacked receivers like the # 325-GH-303 with a 5" rise/drop or # 325-GH-304 with a 7-1/2" rise/drop. The design prevents any reduction in hitch capacity like other adapters and will get you the extra clearance. The Gen-Y is pretty solid but I recommend using an anti-rattle like # GY88XR to help reduce unwanted movement as you add more parts to your bike rack setup.
