What 2" to 1 1/4" Hitch Adapter Can Be Used with an Anti-Rattle Device?

I have a 2” hitch on my car. My Thule Bike Rack is a 1 1/4”. What do you recommend as a non-rattle reducer solution? I don’t think it matters butjust in case it does, my car is a 2026 Subaru Outback XT.

Hi Bryan,
To get the most anti-rattle reduction when using your Thule bike rack, I suggest using the etrailer 2" to 1 1/4" Trailer Hitch Receive Adapter part # e58YR. This adapter will fit inside your receiver and extend out 4 3/8" to give you a 1 1/4" receiver with a sight extension. I recommend using the extension over a sleeve adapter because anti-rattle devices or hitch pins that come with some bike racks are not compatible with the hitch pin hole in sleeve adapters. The extension will reduce your tongue weight up to 50% since the weight is moved out away from the hitch, so you'll need to make sure the weight of your bike rack and bikes stays within its range when using the adapter.
Then you can use the etrailer Anti-Rattle Hitch Collar Device part # e38FV that will hook around the collar of the hitch and uses a knob to tighten the device and apply pressure all the way around the bike rack to keep it from moving.

I purchased the Trailer Hitch Reducer 2" to 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver Part Number: e63YR. It's very beafy, and well made. It's a perfect fit for my 1 1/4" bicycle rack so I can now use the 2" trailer hitch on my 2024 Kia EV,

I tried everything you're trying, Bryan. None of it worked. I have a 2023 Subaru Outback Wilderness with a 1 1/4 inch Küel Sherpa hitch. It wasn't until I got an adapter directly from Küel that my rack fit in my hitch perfectly. I didn't even need an anti-rattle device.
