The Stay-IN-Play Duo uses both an inertia sensor and the motorhome’s brake light signal to make sure braking feels precise and natural. The G-Force controller senses deceleration, confirming that your RV is actually braking before sending a signal to the operating unit. That unit then applies your car’s brakes with matching pressure, so both vehicles slow down together. You can fine-tune the sensitivity with a simple knob, giving you control over how quickly or firmly the system reacts. The result is smooth, synchronized stops without any jerky motion or delay.
Once installed, the Duo is ready every time you plug in your toad. It automatically powers on when connected to your RV and needs no further setup. The components mount permanently under the hood or dash, staying out of sight so nothing interferes with how you drive or use your vehicle day to day. There’s no bulky box to move in and out each trip—just flip the G-Force controller switch and go.
The included wireless Coachlink monitor keeps you aware of what’s happening in real time. Lights and beeps alert you whenever your towed vehicle’s brakes are applied, so you always know the system is working as it should. The transmitter connects directly to a reed switch on the brake pedal for an accurate reading of actual brake activity—not just when the system tries to engage.
In an emergency disconnect, the integrated breakaway switch immediately activates your car’s brakes using a reserve air supply from the operating unit. Instead of rolling away, your vehicle will come to a controlled stop, meeting safety requirements for supplemental braking systems.
Most braking systems lose vacuum pressure when the engine is off, which can make them press too hard on the pedal. The Duo prevents that by reactivating the vehicle’s vacuum-assist line so it brakes evenly and naturally, just like it does under normal driving conditions. This helps protect your brake components and ensures consistent performance trip after trip.
For motorhomes with hydraulic brakes; compatible with continuous-power-assist brakes; operating unit measures 8" long x 5" wide x 2-1/4" tall; includes a 5-year warranty.
Flat towing can be a much more convenient way to take your car RVing with you than using a trailer or a tow dolly. It'll save you storage space both at home and at the campsite, and it takes less time and hassle to hook up.
To flat tow your vehicle, there are 5 basic components you're going to need: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a flat tow braking system.
| For the RV | Between the RV and Towed Car | For the Towed Car |
|---|---|---|
| Hitch | Tow bar | Base plate |
| Wiring plug | Safety cables | Braking system |
| Wiring adapter cord | Wiring kit/diodes |
The custom-fit base plate installs on the frame of your toad so you can connect the car to your RV with a tow bar. Hook up safety cables between the vehicles to ensure that the toad does not separate from the motorhome if the tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring syncs your vehicle's signal lights with your motorhome's tail lights, as required by law in most states. Finally, the flat tow braking system - also required in most states - activates the brakes in the toad when you hit the brakes in the RV, making for smoother, safer braking, and preventing wear on your motorhome.

It took me a couple days to get this installed,I'm not as flexible as I was so that didn't help. However I followed the instruction steps and got it done.Had to adjust the sensitivity a few times until it was the way I wanted.System works good and I get a alarm when brakes are activated. This gives you peace of mind knowing your brakes are not applied when they shouldn't be. Very Happy with it,just have to flip a switch when towing.
Well packed and delivered quickly, than ks
Fairly easy install and works great
I've had the Demco Stay-In-Play DUO Braking System for a year now. Installed it myself which went very well. Pretty easy install on my 2018 Jeep Wrangle. Adjustments are simple and quick and I love the wireless monitor that shows me it is working. So much easier and simpler than using the big bulky brake controllers that you set on the floor board of the drivers seat and then have to find a place to store it. This stays installed all the time and only requites a switch to turn it on.

Where have you journeyed to so far with your Jeep?
Fast and friendly service. We order all are tow package from etrailer
Very easy install, and the videos on E-trailer helped a bunch! I opted to put the controller and wireless link on the passenger side, because there was more room there, but the controller is still properly orientated. Be sure to leave enough slack in your wiring if you decide to mount the operating unit on the fuse box, so you'll be able to remove the cover later. Happy trails!
Works great. Self installed on 2018 Ford F150 without much difficulty. I recommend watching etrailer install video. Mine has wireless duo monitor. Extra care needs to be used when splicing into tiny brake light switch wire. If bad connection is made truck will not shift out of park.
Upgraded from RVi3 system which was a portable unit and operated solely on inertia which in my experience only worked on moderate to hard braking. This system being a dual system works even with mild braking. I'm very happy with it. Installation took me several partial days (60+ yr old, moderate mechanical skills). The videos are very helpful and had one for my exact 2020 Jeep Wrangler. Installation is easy but access under the dash to install the air cylinder and a roadmaster brake switch is awkward and difficult. My biggest fear was the access there and cutting the vacuum line. The vacuum line turned out to be very easy. I had to adjust my brake light switch after installation when I tested the system. Everything is adjusted properly now and works as I hoped.
Installed 6/17/23 on a 2023 Equinox LT (AWD). Installation was pretty straight-forward. I mostly followed etrailer's videos. Note that the pneumatic cylinder needs to be mounted fairly high on the brake pedal arm so you have a 'square' profile to clamp onto. This vehicle has an electronic brake booster rather than pneumatic, so follow Demco's instructions regarding this variation. The wireless coachlink works great. I couldn't be happier with this system.
Lots of uncomfortable under dash work but worked out great. Make sure to adjust sensitivity as per directions. If set too sensitive the turn signals trigger breaking on and off very weird.
This is a really nice braking system. It works EXACTLY as described. Engine breaking does not trigger breaking (because it's tied into the break light circuit). And breaking truly is proportional. Light braking and it does not engage activate braking. The remote wireless coach receiver shows you how hard the car is breaking, and IS proportional to the breaking in the Coach. When the car is breaking the wireless receiver shows you, at three levels (the number of lights lit from one light to three) how hard the towed is braking. i HIGHLY recommend the wireless unit for breaking notification.
Instructions were very clear. I studied my 2004 Pontiac Vibe (same as Toyota Matrix), and watched a bunch of online videos on installing this product. This is a particularly good car for a toad, because it is so light. (2700 lbs curb weight -- and it rolls really freely).
Installation was particularly painful under the dash where (as a tall person) I had to contort myself into all kinds of uncomfortable shapes with various padding) to reach up under the dash panel . There is just no easy way I could find to remove the lower dash panel without taking about whole dash board. So just figuring out the cold side of the break switch was very difficult. It was impossible to get a probe on the break light switch plug. I ended up clipping a wire junction connector on to the (green wire coming of the brake switch after unplugging the wire harness) and then probing that after plugging it back in. I guessed right, It's the green wire that is the cold side of the switch. For someone who reads this you don't have to guess. I've done it for you
On this car I was concerned about going through the firewall and puncturing the break booster when mounting the cable terminal for the actuating cylinder. In the end, where I needed to go through the firewall was nowhere near the booster. It also turned out trying to use the self taping screws was just too hard. I wanted to use the reinforcing plate, but ended up loosing it under the carpeting. Finally I decided to just drill a 1/4" hole through the firewall (just northwest of a little dimple in the firewall), and bolt the cable cable terminal to the fire wall with a 1/4x20 combo head machine screw, and a fender washer, lock washer, and nut on the engine side of the firewall. I put silicone on the washers and nut, to prevent corrosion. I had just enough room under the car to get a wrench onto it. It would have been nice to have a car lift in my garage, but I did this work by blocking the car up on jack stands. My son held the bolt on the inside of the car. while I tightened the nut on the engine side of the firewall.
Another problem was: where to mount the operating unit in the engine compartment? I struggled with this until I found an online video of an installation on a Honda, where the tech mounted the operating unit to the engine cover. This worked out well, and made for easy routing of the vacuum lines both to the vacuum line between the engine and the brake booster, and through the firewall grommet to the actuating cylinder.
I mounted the wireless sending unit on the dash at the driver's A pillar, and the control unit on the passenger side, where there was much more room, routing the wires behind the center console over the the drivers side to go through the firewall. Calibration (adjusting the control unit position) worked exactly as describe. I set it and I was done.
In the end, though a painful install process, ESPECIALLY above the foot pedals under the dash, I know I am going to LOVE this system. To setup for towing: just flick the switch on the control unit, and hook up the car. No other special setup is required.
I installed this system in a 2023 2 door Wrangler. I also used an etrailer base plate and etrailer tow bar. I had originally purchased a Demco Delta Force Braking System. However, with the shape of the floor in the Jeep I was unable to use this unit. There are various places to install the stay n play duo in the Wrangler and the etrailer installation videos show this. I elected to install mine under the drivers seat as I wanted to keep it out of the elements. I fabricated a sheet metal bracket to mount it on that allows the rear seat heater duct to function unimpeded.
Once installed the unit is out of sight and very simple to use. Just a flip of the toggle switch and its ready. I only needed to make a few adjustments to have it brake the way jeep the way I wanted. This is also a very simple procedure.
I highly recommend this unit and appreciate all of the information etrailer has on their site to aid in the procurement and installation of their products.
These installation photos are for the Demco Duo Play braking system install on a 2018 Ford Fusion Platinum Energy with push button start.

I works perfect every trip. I do a hard braking test at the beginning of every trip. The wireless monitor in the motorhome immediately reports the functionality of the braking system. I am very satisfied with this product. I installed everything myself.
Purchased for 2023 Jeep GC and Coachmen Euro. Delivery was fast and on time, packing was great. Had installed by a RV technician, very easy and he ensured my brakes and in cab indicator were working fine. Drove rig from SoCal to San Antonio, TX with no issues. Highly recommend.
We just had this installed and are very pleased with this system. Easy to use and works perfectly with our new 2025 Ford Maverick Hybrid. Thanks for recommending this system!
Take the time to really study the videos from etrailer and you’ll have no problems. Kit came well packaged with everything I needed. Hardest part was working under the dash…not a lot of room to work in a 2013 Honda CRV.
The Demco brake is a great product. eTrailer was quick to help with an install problem. Can’t go wrong with any purchase from there.
DYI install with the help of the etrailer video went well. It is really helpful to know how it all works when on the road. After fine tuning the braking adjustment the brakes work really good. Total setup when hooking up is literally plug and play.
I have nothing to compare this system to as it’s my 1st rodeo towing with an rv. I spent some time installing the system. I did need to call Demco twice for some intel & they were great. The system works very well. I like the fact that I just connect, flip a switch & I’m good to go. Works just as advertised. I installed the vacuum pump module under the drivers seat, I didn’t like how others placed it exterior behind the front bumper. I likey!
Finally had an RV tech, Supertech in Pahrump NV, install the system in my '25 Bronco. The tech, Alex, did a fantastic job with the installation. The system works great. Nice even braking in concert with my motorhome. Easy to use as I just plug in the cable and breakaway and I'm done.
I previously used a portable Blue Ox brake and decided to go with a permanently installed system in my tow Jeep. I really like the system, it is easy to use and setup for towing.
Instructions are fairly easy to follow, the videos also helped out in some of the more complex installation steps. Installation does take several hours to do but it is worth it in the end.

After a year of towing our Jeep now for over 20K miles, the Demco Stay-N-Play still works great. It’s easy to setup to tow and uncouple. Just flip the switch to turn it on and everything works as expected. Just remember to turn it off when you want to drive otherwise the first time you touch the brake you get to experience a very rapid deceleration event!
Have not had one issue. Got a different RV, moved to a diesel pusher and still working perfect. Did not need to change anything. Moved the towards, hooked it all up and we were off.
Best breaking system ever for a towable car. Nothing heavy to lug in and out of the car and try to attach to the brake pedal each time you want to tow it. Always satisfied with everything eTrailer does.
Works great ! If you are not handy working on Cars Let a shop do the Job, I have been In the auto industry for over 45 Years so was not a big deal just takes some time .. Just A note we installed this on a 2017 Ford Fiesta SE Automatic The videos dont show mounting location of the pump You can mount under the Drivers seat with No Problem !
I have had this installed on my 2018 Jeep wrangler JL for about 4 months now. I love the fact it is a permanently installed system, and I do not have to install and uninstall a bulky device each time. I was a bit hesitant to install this on my own but after watching the install videos on e-tailer I decided to give it a try. I am very glad I did as I know exactly where everything is and how its connected. instead of using the break line supplied I choose to cut my break line, heat it with a heat gun and slip in the one-way valve as well as the T connection. I then only had to run the supplied break line a short distance to the controller. I think the install looks pretty clean and does not interfere with my fuse box.
