Full Flat Towing Setup For 2026 Ford Maverick Hybrid Lariat With Active Cruise Control

Updated 05/26/2026 | Published 05/22/2026

Question:

I have a 2026 Ford Maverick Lariat with ACC. Is the Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit RM87NQ the correct one for my vehicle? I have the Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar, Demco Stay-in-play Duo brake system, and the Stop light switch from a previous car. Im assuming Ill need a smart diode kit. Can you recommend the appropriate kit? Also, do I need a Charge line for this vehicle? If so which one? Anything else I need to fully setup my truck for flat towing? Thank you!

Hey David! As long as your 2026 Maverick is a hybrid, the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM87NQ is indeed a fit. There are no baseplates for non-hybrid models as only the hybrids are flat towable. These baseplates are a good setup for the Roadmaster Nighthawk tow bar you already have, so no adapters are needed :).

The Demco Stay IN Play DUO braking system # DM86VR will work well, but you'll also want regulator adapter # DM88UV to help regulate the braking pressure for the Maverick. It's not technically required, but it's strongly recommended! To power this you'll also want 12v outlet kit # RM-9332.

You will indeed want a charge line kit # RM-156-25 since the battery will be drained will towing.
You can use the brake light switch you already have, but there's also a custom fit one if you prefer that route: # RM87GR.

For light wiring, I'd go with a kit like Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles - 4-Way Flat Connector # RM-154 which includes the diodes you'll need.

You will be all set after these parts! Let me know if you need anything else David. Where do you plan to go on your first trip?
