The Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit, # RM97RR is the Roadmaster part number of 524470-5. From conversation with our contact at Roadmaster, the (524470-5) will fit all models of the Ford Maverick with 2.5 hybrid motor, no interference with adaptive cruise control.

There are 5 basic components needed to flat tow any vehicle, the Base Plate Kit, Tow-Bar, Safety Cable, Wiring Solution and Supplemental Braking. Some vehicle set-ups require additional parts to supplement the basic items. Such as a high/low adapter to adjust the tow bar height or additional electrical items.

For the 2022 Ford Maverick:

- Base Plates, Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit, # RM97RR

- Tow Bar, Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Tow Bar, # RM-676
This comes with the needed safety cables

- Wiring solution, Towing Combo Kit, # RM-9284-2 and the Charge Line Kit, # RM-156-25

- Supplemental Braking, Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO, # DM86VR
Unless you have air brakes, then I suggest the Demco Air Force One, # DM26VR

We always suggest that you refer to your vehicle specific owners manual before attempting to flat tow and ensure you follow manufacturer's guidelines. It is important that the installed tow bar sets within +/- 3" of being level otherwise excessive wear can occur to the vehicles suspension system and tires. Attached is an article that walks you through how to determine if a high/low adapter is needed and how to best make that selection if so. According to Roadmaster, the base plate kit will sit 15" above the ground.

In your opinion, do you still feel that the road master base plate for a 2024 Ford Maverick XL Hybrid is the best choice for that vehicle? I will be using a stay and play brake system but think I’d prefer to use an auxiliary wiring system independent of the oem Wiring. Any disadvantage going that route? (Other than added holes to the taillight assembly) Thanks for your advice

Hi I’m towing a Ford Maverick Hybrid and have the road master nightwalk toe bar and using the patriot braking system. When they installed the using the RV coach is to power the Patriot braking system. I do not have a battery charge line installed. I’m having an issue on first time tow with the Maverick Hybrid battery going into a deep state charge mode. I assumed that there would not be any drain on the Maverick’s battery with this setup. Any suggestions based on you experience. Do I need a battery charge line kit. Thanks

@HarryH Since you're using the Patriot braking system you definitely need a Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 installed because the Patriot will drain your Maverick battery.

@JonG I have a 12 volt plug that they ran from the plug connection via the RV. So it is being powered from the RV. It is only “live” when the RV is running. This is working. I’m wondering if there is something else in the Ford Maverick Hybrid that would cause the battery to drain?

@HarryH I took a look at the online manual for a 2022 Maverick Hybrid but I'm not seeing anything about a battery drain being expected. As long as you've set your vehicle up correctly you shouldn't be seeing a drain, but I also recommend reaching out to your local Ford dealer to see if they have any additional insight into this since they are the ones who know the ins and outs of this vehicle.
