So far the trans cooler has been working well. I also used the adapters. Both products are doing well after 1500 miles or so and many hills, mountains, and trailering.

Great cooler upgrade for my 1997 GMC Yukon! Little delivery damage, but was so easy to bend those fins back to original shape so no worries!
Nice that you had proper dimension measurements online, so it was easy to figure out what kind I can fit in my truck. Complete kit had everything I needed to get it done!
Modified old cooler bracket little bit and that was it. Works great!

by:

by:

Have I gotten my refund for trans cooler fittings that weren't needed? 1994 k1500 trans cooler is working great.

by:

Very handy for unique installations fo transmission coolers

by:

It looks like from reading the matierl if one is using the cooler in series with the factory cooler this adapter is not needed.
Thus I would like to return, but I fear the shipping cost will not make sense, dollar wise...

Thus the recommendation should state if you are adding a cooler to your system where one does not already exist, then you'll need this adapter.

So if your adding to an already existing system, you do not need the adapter.

by:

Worked out great for installing the extra trans cooler.

by:

by:

The adapter fitting did not fit my 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 w/ 5.3 liter engine and factory trailer package.

by:

These fittings made connecting the hoses to the steel transmission lines very easy - glad I bought them! I recommend getting them.

by:

I purchased these fittings thinking these would fit my GM product. NOT.......These are 3/8 and looks like the fit the truck series only as stated on the package. Be aware

by:

Great buying experience, will definitely be a go to company for future purchases

  • Recommendation for a Transmission Cooler for Maximum Towing Capacity on a 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit w/Barb Inlets - Class IV - Efficient , item # D13504, will work on your 2002 Chevrolet TrailBlazer. Along with this cooler you will need the Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings for GM , item # D13018, if your TrailBlazer has the 6.0 Liter engine or the Derale Snap-In Radiator Adapter Fitting for GM , item # D13035, if your engine is the 4.2 or 5.3 liter. I cannot recommend completely replacing the factory transmission cooler on your...

  • What Adapters Are Needed To Install Transmission Cooler on 2009 GMC Sierra
For installation of a transmission cooler on your 2009 GMC Sierra with the 4.3L V6 engine you will use the Derale Radiator Adapter, part # D13018. If you have the V8 engine ( 4.8L, 5.3L, or 6.0L) you will use the Derale Radiator Adapter, part # D13035. I have posted a photo to show the typical transmission cooler installation. For your Sierra you will use the correct Derale Radiator Adapter Fittings (# D13018, or # D13035) for the engine you have, then install the adapter in the radiator...

  • Solution For 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 5.3L Overheating When Towing 4,000 lb Trailer Up a Grade
If you are pulling a trailer under the towing capacities of your 2008 GMC Sierra 1500, the engine temperature of the truck should not overheat. I would recommend having the vehicle looked over by your GMC dealership. What I would recommend is adding a combination transmission and oil cooler, as well as a cooling fan. This will cool the transmission fluid, the engine oil, and engine. For this, I would recommend the Derale Combination Transmission and Engine Oil Cooler, part # D15903. You...

  • Transmission Cooler Recommendation for a 2003 GMC Sierra 4x4 1500
I can tell you that the Derale Transmission Cooler Pan, # D14204, fits most 1982-1999 model 4L60Es transmissions. Some models may require a smaller transmission filter to get it to fit. It will not fit on all models. The overall depth of the pan is 3-5/8 inches and the distance to the the 5/8 inch diameter cooling tubes is 2-1/2 inches from the top of the pan. The exhaust has been determined to be a possible hindrance of installing this pan on models newer than 1999. If there were no components...

For your other adapters, you will need to measure each line. We have compression fittings for most sizes. • Transmission Cooler Recommendations for a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado 4X4 5.7L
To determine what kind of transmission cooler you will need depends on how much weight you will be towing and where you will be towing. Also, you will want to check how much room you have in front of the radiator to be able to install the transmission cooler. If you will be towing a light load, less than 2000lbs, in flat driving conditions, your 1998 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 5.7L will do fine with a class I rated cooler. If you will be towing more than a 2000lb load through some hills,...

  • How Many Adapters Is Needed to Install Transmission Cooler in 1997 Chevy K1500
The Derale cooler part # D13503 is a great choice for your 1997 Chevy K1500. You would only need one of the part # D13018 fitting adapter as it comes with two sides. One to use on the radiator to get the line to the transmission cooler and then the other one to attach back to the disconnected transmission cooler line that was removed. These fittings are only needed if your Corvette has a 5/8 inch hex size fitting on the transmission line. If you have a different hex size, then you do not need the adapter fittings. • Preventing Leaks When Installing Derale # 15718 Engine Oil Filter Relocation Kit
I spoke with my contact at Derale and they provided some very useful information. They said you do not want to use a liquid sealant of any type because it acts as a lubricant when first applied and would actually allow you to over tighten the fittings causing leaks. They suggest using a thread tape and tightening to approximately 8 to 10 ft lbs. Although the suggestion to hand tighten and then turn an additional 1/4 turn may work, the term hand tighten would be different for everyone.

  • Transmission Cooler For 2003 Chevy Express 1500 For Towing
The transmission cooler I recommend for your 2003 Chevy Express 1500 is the Derale Series 8000, which is the following part number: - Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit # D13503 I like the # D13503 because of its efficiency; it is a plate-and-fin cooler, which means it uses smaller plates that cover more area than other coolers in order to agitate transmission fluid. For the radiator coolant temperature, I recommend adding a supplemental fan or fans depending on how much space you have under the hood. There is no limit to the amount of fans you can have. A pusher fan, mounted in front of the radiator pushing air through it, would be the most efficient (provided that the factory fan is mounted on the same side and pushes air through in the same direction). A puller fan would be used on the other side of the radiator to pull air through. The largest electric...
