Video Transcript for Trailer Wiring Harness Installation - 1999 Ford F-250

Today on our 1999 Ford F250, we will install the tow ready custom fit wiring harness, part number 118243. Before we can install the new pole and harness, we will need to remove the old and the manufacture. Theres a bolt here securing the bracket, we will remove first and then we will cut the zip tie and remove the wire connector, pressing on the locking tab and remove it from the manufactures wiring. Now we are ready to go ahead and install the new bracket hardware. Before we begin installing the wiring harness, we will need to install the bracket, one to attach to the hitch, and another to attach to the seven pole. The seven pole mounting bracket by Pollak, part number PK12711U will attach to the Draw-Tite no drill mounting bracket, part number 18136.

Now with our brackets connected we can go ahead and fit it to the hitch. As you can see, we will need to go ahead and make some modifications so the bracket will fit flush on the hitch once we secure it, to do this Im going to go ahead and take a paint stick, make a mark on the bracket, and then take it over to a vise and bend it accordingly. Now with our bracket bent we will go ahead and test fit it, and keep making adjustments as necessary. Now with our modifications made we will go ahead and take the clamp and secure it to the hitch. Now we will take the new wiring harness run it through the mounting bracket and secure it to our new seven pole connector.

Once we have the lock in place with pressing the lock and tab, and then we will go ahead and mount the seven pole onto the bracket using the new Pollak hardware, part number PK11926. Now with our seven pole mounted to our seven pole bracket, we will go ahead and route the wire over the hitch and to the connector, we will remove our four pole from earlier. Next we will go ahead and take a zip tie, secure the remaining wire to the hitch, and this will complete the install of the new tow ready custom fit wiring seven pole connector, part number 118243, on our 1999 Ford F250.

2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I bought the 118243 replacement 7 way trailer connector for my 2000 Ford F250 7.3 Super Duty. Hooked it up in less than an hour. I also needed the adapter bracket 11840. Without this bracket, the 118243 connector would not mount correctly to my truck. It would not clear the bottom of my bumper in the original mounting position on the bumper. I also bought the Pollak 7 plus 4 way connector because I have multiple trailers with different connectors. This product is HM40975 and I highly recommend that it be purchased with the other two products. The guys at eTrailer really know their products and are so helpful. They know what exceptional customer service is all about. Also, I love all of their online videos and information on the website that allows you to make informed decisions. Their prices are very competitive too. With free shipping over $99, they can't be beat.. For those reasons, I will not buy trailer gear anywhere else. 138981

This was an exact replacement as this item was missing on the used 1999 F-350 I purchased. Instruction manual showed exactly where to find connector on frame, and how to install the provided fuses and test. I can't wait to hook up my boat trailer for a trip to the lake! 33234

Fits / Works as advertised, easy enough with the plug and play but the mounting part is the only difficult part of the whole install. Great product, thanks etrailer ! 543774

2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Fits my 2000 F250 Superduty perfectly. I ordered this with the 7 and 4 pole trailer connector HM40975 since my boat trailer has the 4 pin. Too bad they don't sell the wire harness without the 7 pole if you go that route. Had to shim 3/4" for the bracket or the plug would be obstructed by the bumper. I'm very pleased with the result and service. 404065

So I was led to this website while shopping online for the wiring harness that I needed. I mistakenly ordered the wrong part and immediately called etrailer with my error. I spoke with a gentleman named Laser who immediately corrected my mistake and actually shipped the correct harness while I was on the phone. Because it was actually less than other online sites even with shipping. Thanks guys 575434

1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I bought a plug from Gaudin Ford that supposedly was for my truck- 1999 F250 Super Duty and it did not work. I found this site and took a chance and ordered the plug for a 1999 F250 Super Duty and it works perfectly! Half the price of the dealer and they offered to exchange it if it did not work- Ford said no exchanges or returns on their electrical. Thanks for your help in finding the right plug! 77221

The product was perfect, the only problem was that it out of stock, and I had to wait just over 2 weeks to receive it. But I was notified right away so I didn't have chase information as when I would receive it. 543348

Converted the dually Ford F350 to a flatbed and just needed the wiring to plug into the factory 4-flat connector on the pickup harness to the connector on the flatbed's installed 7-way/4-flat combination plug. Already had the fuses and relays from pulling gooseneck before, so it only took a couple of minutes to plug in the connectors and do a light check on the trailer. Everything worked perfectly. Thanks George! 220444

I have a 1999 F250 4x4 and wanted to upgrade from 6 round to 7 round to match the car trailer I had just bought. I had almost given up on finding a plug and play up grade and was preparing myself to start cutting wires. I'm so thankful that I found this web sight. They have a very large selection including the one that I needed. On top of that the video of how to install was spot on. I would not have thought of having to add a fuse and upgrade another under the hood. They were very helpful, great turnaround time and great product. I will definitely buy from them again. 472372

I ordered a replacement for my 7 contact trailer socket because all the ones I tried from local parts stores, the mounting holes didn’t line up. I didn’t want to have to change the bracket because they didn’t fit either. And I wasn’t going to pay $280 for one from Ford. Etrailer sent me an email saying that the one I ordered was on back order, but they might have one in stock that would fit. I explained to them that I actually only needed the socket with mounting holes like the factory ones. And even though they all come with the wiring harness, I didn’t need it . They promptly sent me a replacement & it fit perfectly. Thank you so much 549398

Ford F-250 Super Duty

I purchased the 90° 7-pole wiring harness for the bed of my F250 and the OEM replacement 7-pin harness for the rear bumper. I'm the 2nd owner and for a long time I left the plastic bed-liner in it. When I removed it recently I discovered there was a hole in the bedside from the previous owner. I use my truck to pull a fifth-wheel camper too, and the bumper wiring harness pretty much maxes out my trailer's pigtail. Both wiring harnesses were very easy to install, and I was even able to trim the spacer provided with the kit to fit the contour of the bed where the previous owner had drilled the hole. It looks like it came installed from the factory! 36224

Etrailer has it right! The best products along with the technical support at usually the best price. The ford 7 pin harness I purchased only took about a minute to install. I thought it came with the mounting bracket, but it was my mistake. Once I fabricated the bracket, it was plug and play! 652005

I upgraded the tow package wiring on a "new to me" 1999 F250 Superduty from the jerry-rigged mess the previous owner had gobbed together to one utilizing the truck's existing trailer tow package, both for the rear of the truck and inside the box for the gooseneck ball hitch. The wiring harness, receptacles, et. al. from etrailer plugged right into the truck's wiring harness with ease, and I would highly recommend their products. Customer service was impeccable...assisted with an order mix-up on my part, helped me locate the truck's wiring harness plug under the dash, and provided help with finding the correct harness for an older model trailer brake that I already possessed. To the staff at etrailer---thanks and keep up the great work! When I need trailer parts again, you will be the first I contact! 629011

Worked with Lindy to zero in on the correct parts for my truck. Once we figured out exactly what I needed, figured I would just place an online order. Nope! Lindy filled my order on the spot, emailed my invoice and scheduled the shipping. Shipping confirmation and tracking number showed up later that day. Confirmation of arrival and a thank you email arrived as part was delivered. Oh, did I mention that to start with, I called etrailer because they had the best price I could find. OEM Replacement. Removed the old wiring harness, plugged in the new one purchased from etrailer, and BOOM! Ready to pull my trailer! I've had so many issues with my connector as of late and have replaced everything except for this part. I feel like I've been yucking around with it for the past six months trying to keep all the lights properly running on my trailers. After a little research on etrailer.com, I found this part at an exceptional price. Made the purchase, replaced the part, and now I have a fully-functioning, problem-free trailer wiring harness all in a matter of days! Customer service at etrailer is phenomenal, btw! As soon as the order was placed, I received the typical "here's what you ordered" email... once my ordered shipped, I then received the not-as-typical "your order has shipped" email. After that, I got the "order was delivered" email. And then I got the "is your order correct? how can we help you" email! This whole process is not typical at all! I buy everything online from dog food to truck parts and never have I received such in-depth follow-up to ensure that I am a satisfied customer! etrailer gets it and this is why I will now purchase anything I can from them! And you should too! Trust me... etrailer is THE BEST!!! 580231

2001 Ford F-250 Super Duty

This was exactly what I was looking for to replace the buggy and shorted out wiring between the factory connection to the Hopkins 7 way plug receptacle on our 2001 F250 work rig. There is a lack of a 4 wire plug for the spot on the factory mount but we never use that anyway and everyone has an adapter in their toolbox. The only hard thing about installing this was removing the old harness from the factory connector. There is plenty of length to reach from the factory plug just behind the spare tire to the receptacle mounting just under the bumper. eTrailer’s customer service was top notch in helping me select this specific harness for my application and needs, if you have any doubt that this is the part you need I highly suggest contacting them first. 580039

  • Replacement 7-Way and 4-Way Recommendation for 1999 Ford F-250
  • For a 7-way harness that will plug into the square trailer wiring connector of your 1999 Ford F-250. You would want the part # 118243 which is a confirmed fit. I attached an install video for you to check out as well. If you wanted to swap out the 7-way with one that includes a 4-way as well you could use the part # HM40950 to get both.

  • There is a solution for you but Replacement Harness # 118243 is not a fit for your 2007 Ford E-350. If you have the factory tow package connections you will want the Reese Multi-Plug Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package # 74682. This harness will give your van a 7-way RV-style and a 4-pole flat connector and plugs into the factory 7-way socket on your E-350. • No 12 Volt Power on 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2010 Ford F-350
  • Relays are difficult to check. Really the only way to do it is to get a relay you know works and try it. If that does not work it is possible that there is another fuse or relay associated with the 12 volt circuit. Using the owners manual and/or legend on fuse box lid you can determine if there is another to check. If your truck only came with a 4-Way wiring harness initially then the wire for 12 volt power is probably not run back to the connector. Trace the cord back from the trailer...

  • Wiring And Adjusting The Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller, # 39510, On A 1999 Ford F250/F350
  • I am sending a link to the instructions for the Tekonsha Voyager Brake Controller, # 39510. It will show you how to adjust the brake controller. They do not have a wiring schematic, but I can explain how to wire it to a 1999 Ford F250/F350 truck. If your 1999 Ford F250/F350 has a factory installed 7-Way trailer connector, all you would need is the brake controller and the factory brake control adapter that connects to the controller and plugs into the OEM plug. The OEM plug is located...

  • Adding a 4- and 7-Way Trailer Connector on a 2004 Ford F-350
  • In order to install a 4- and 7-Way on your 2004 Ford F-350 you will first need to install # C55265. This will plug right into the port in the picture you sent. It does look like there are some loose wires there that you will need to hardwire to a 7-Way. For a 4/7-Way I recommend # 37185. the 4-Way will plug into it and then you will need to hardwire the remaining wires. White is ground and should attach to the truck frame. Blue is output to electric brakes. Black is 12 volt power. Purple...

  • Replacement 4 and 7-Way Trailer Connector for a 2000 Ford F-350
  • You can use the Hopkins 4/7-Way connector # HM48470. All you will need to do is attach the wires from the old connector in the same places on the back of this connector then mount it where you want it. No other wiring harnesses are needed. The replacement 7-Ways we have for a 2000 Ford F-350 that also have the rectangular plug do not have a built-in 4-Way. We have # C55243 and # 118243. You could use one of these and then use an adapter, # HM47570. If the truck came with the factory...

  • Hitch, Weight Distribution And Towing Accessories to Tow 12,000 lb Boat with 2000 Ford F350
  • Unless you're planning on carrying a truck bed camper again, the Torklift # TLF1002-30 Hitch you referenced would be overkill for you. A Class V hitch like the Curt # C15410 would be a less expensive option. For a ball mount, use the Draw-Tite # 40331 with the # 19286 2-5/16 inch trailer ball. Anytime the weight of what you're towing exceeds half the weight of the tow vehicle, weight distribution is recommended. To choose a weight distribution system, you'll need to first determine...

  • Correct Trailer Wiring Harness for 2002 Ford F250 or F350
  • The # 118243 harness you referrred to is compatible with 1999-2001 F250 and F350 models, and is not compatible with a 2002 model, which would explain why it's not working. Part # 74682 is shown as being the proper 7-way for a 2002 Ford F250 or F350. The 74682 would plug into the existing US Car connector under the vehicle, typically located on the driver's side frame rail.

  • No Power on 7-Way Connector on 2000 Ford F-350 With Tekonsha Primus Brake Controller, # TK90160
  • If your F-350 did not come with a complete factory tow package you may need to install some additional fuses and relays to get power to your 7-way. Your owners manual or the lid of your fuse box should have legends showing which fuses/relays activate/protect which circuits. If you only need the fuses and relays you can obtain these from a local auto parts store. If you prefer a complete kit with 30-amp fuses, relays and plug-in harness with 7-way connector, we offer the TowReady Custom...

  • Brake Controller on 2000 Winnebago Builton Ford F-53 Chassis
  • Did your 2000 Winnebago have a 7-way already? If not, you are going to need Wiring Harness, 7-Way # 118243 for the Hopkins InSIGHT # HM47297 to work. Since you are using Brake Wiring Adapter # HM47715 there should be no reason why the InSIGHT is not working. Be sure that the power wire is correct by using a circuit tester such as # 40376 to ensure the black wire is giving your brake controller power. If not, it will need to be run via a 20-amp circuit breaker to the positive fuse of your...
