Video Transcript for Review of Tow Ready Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring - Trailer Hitch Wiring - 118243

Today we're gonna take a look at the Ford replacement OEM tow package, seven way wiring harness. Now, this is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1999 to 2001 Ford super duty trucks with the OEM four way flat wiring. Now, this kit will allow you to upgrade your four way on your vehicle to this seven way connector. Now once you do install the seven way connector, the four way that is on here will not be functional anymore. You can also use this if you have a factory seven way on your vehicle that might be damaged.

This part here will replace it.Now, it includes everything shown here on the table. It includes the seven way, the 24 inch long wiring harness, the fuses, and the relays that will make this all operational. The plug right here on the harness, this is what you'll need to plug into the vehicle's wiring harness plug on your vehicle. And that plug is usually underneath the rear, normally on the driver side frame rail behind the bumper and the plug should match this plug right here on the trailing wiring harness then. And then you just plug that in.

The other end, right here, this is what we plug into the back of your seven way. You just line it up, push it in there, and it would connect to that. Now, we do recommend to mount this with a mounting bracket. We do sell those separately on our website and they're usually listed on this product page as a related product. Now also, once the wiring harness and the seven way's all connected in the back, the last thing you need to do is just install these fuses and relays. So basically, on the Ford super duties, there's usually two boxes in your engine compartment.

There's a larger box which is the power distribution box and then there's a smaller box attached to it which is the trailer tow relay block. What you'll do is open the covers on both of them and then that way, you'll be able to access the connections where these fuses and these relays will go.So on the bigger box, what you'll do, that's the power distribution box . You'll look at your owner's manual and just find the location for the trailer tow electric brake and the trailer tow battery charge fuse locations. And then you'll take these two large 30 amp MAXI 00:02:05 fuses and insert them into those locations. Once you do that, then you just go to that smaller trailer tow relay block which is attached to the bigger box and you'll look in the owner's manual, find the location for the trailer tow backup lamp relay and the trailer tow battery charge relay locations.

And then you'll take these two relays right here, insert them into the locations, put your covers back on, and your system will be all ready to go, and you'll have a seven way at the back of your vehicle. But that should do it for the review on the Ford replacement OEM tow package seven way wiring harness.

2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty

Fits my 2000 F250 Superduty perfectly. I ordered this with the 7 and 4 pole trailer connector HM40975 since my boat trailer has the 4 pin. Too bad they don't sell the wire harness without the 7 pole if you go that route. Had to shim 3/4" for the bracket or the plug would be obstructed by the bumper. I'm very pleased with the result and service. 404065

So I was led to this website while shopping online for the wiring harness that I needed. I mistakenly ordered the wrong part and immediately called etrailer with my error. I spoke with a gentleman named Laser who immediately corrected my mistake and actually shipped the correct harness while I was on the phone. Because it was actually less than other online sites even with shipping. Thanks guys 575434

1999 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I have a 1999 F250 4x4 and wanted to upgrade from 6 round to 7 round to match the car trailer I had just bought. I had almost given up on finding a plug and play up grade and was preparing myself to start cutting wires. I'm so thankful that I found this web sight. They have a very large selection including the one that I needed. On top of that the video of how to install was spot on. I would not have thought of having to add a fuse and upgrade another under the hood. They were very helpful, great turnaround time and great product. I will definitely buy from them again. 472372

This was an exact replacement as this item was missing on the used 1999 F-350 I purchased. Instruction manual showed exactly where to find connector on frame, and how to install the provided fuses and test. I can't wait to hook up my boat trailer for a trip to the lake! 33234

2000 Ford F-250 Super Duty

I bought the 118243 replacement 7 way trailer connector for my 2000 Ford F250 7.3 Super Duty. Hooked it up in less than an hour. I also needed the adapter bracket 11840. Without this bracket, the 118243 connector would not mount correctly to my truck. It would not clear the bottom of my bumper in the original mounting position on the bumper. I also bought the Pollak 7 plus 4 way connector because I have multiple trailers with different connectors. This product is HM40975 and I highly recommend that it be purchased with the other two products. The guys at eTrailer really know their products and are so helpful. They know what exceptional customer service is all about. Also, I love all of their online videos and information on the website that allows you to make informed decisions. Their prices are very competitive too. With free shipping over $99, they can't be beat.. For those reasons, I will not buy trailer gear anywhere else. 138981

I bought a plug from Gaudin Ford that supposedly was for my truck- 1999 F250 Super Duty and it did not work. I found this site and took a chance and ordered the plug for a 1999 F250 Super Duty and it works perfectly! Half the price of the dealer and they offered to exchange it if it did not work- Ford said no exchanges or returns on their electrical. Thanks for your help in finding the right plug! 77221

Ford F-250 Super Duty

I purchased the 90° 7-pole wiring harness for the bed of my F250 and the OEM replacement 7-pin harness for the rear bumper. I'm the 2nd owner and for a long time I left the plastic bed-liner in it. When I removed it recently I discovered there was a hole in the bedside from the previous owner. I use my truck to pull a fifth-wheel camper too, and the bumper wiring harness pretty much maxes out my trailer's pigtail. Both wiring harnesses were very easy to install, and I was even able to trim the spacer provided with the kit to fit the contour of the bed where the previous owner had drilled the hole. It looks like it came installed from the factory! 36224

So far so good. Truck was wrecked Feb 2019 and bed replaced. Wiring was also replaced so whatever harness the shop used was different than what you sent. The plug fits but the pins were in a different location. Further testing of the factory plug has led me to discover that not all of connections work on the factory harness. Nice product but let me do some more research and I will get back to you. 776232

  • How to Add Bumper and In-Bed 7-Way Connectors to 1999 Ford F-350 with Factory 4-Way
If your 1999 Ford F-350 Super Duty came with a factory 4-Way then all you need to add a 7-Way to your bumper and in the bed is the Tow Ready part # 118243 which plugs into the square/rectangular connector you're talking about and then a connector like the Bargman # 50-97-410. The Bargman just tees in to the US Car Connector on the Tow Ready part prior to connecting the Tow Ready 7-Way. I have attached sample installation videos that you can check out as well.

There is only one fuse that is tied to your trailer running lights inside the Fuse Panel: Fuse Location 28 - 10 amp - Brake Shift Interlock, DRL Relay Coil, Speed Control Module, Backup Lamps, Trailer...

  • Adding a Functioning 7-Way Trailer Connector to a 1999 Ford F-350 with or without Factory Connector
It sounds like your 1999 Ford F-350 either came with a factory 4-Way or no trailer connector at all. A dealership might be able to tell you what equipment the truck had based on the VIN so that is one thing you can try. Even if it came with a factory 4-Way you can still install a 7-Way with relative ease. First, follow those 4 wires you mentioned forward under the truck. If they plug into another square/rectangular connector then you can use 7-Way # 118243 which comes with the fuses...
