Video Transcript for Set up: Factory Style 7-Way and 4-Way Flat Vehicle End Trailer Connector on a 2023 Nissan Titan

Hey, guys. It's Jake here with etrailer. Today, we're gonna be taking a look at the Hopkins 7 and 4-pole trailer connector. Today, we have a 2023 Nissan Titan, and this vehicle's actually equipped with the factory US car connector. It is tucked up right behind this bumper. If you reach back up in there, you can see it.

You can find it. And if you look right under here, you'll see I've got it pulled out. This is what is designed to connect to the 4 and 7-way plug. Now, there's two ways that you can connect this. One way is with the bracket that comes with the kit.

It'll just install like this, and you can, it clips into place and you can mount it up underneath your bumper like so if you want your connector to be down by your hitch. The Nissan Titan is actually equipped with this same shaped hole right behind this plastic bumper. We'll show you a quick clip of it back here, but if I feel up behind there, I can feel the exact indentation of this hole, which this plug is designed to fit. So, I would highly recommend and definitely what I would do is just trim that out from the back side, and then you can take this plug, connect it right into place and then plug your US car connector that comes from the factory directly into the back of it. Otherwise, if you don't and you want to use this bracket to mount it down here for a less invasive installation, you will have to get an extender or extend your wires on your US car connector 'cause we tried it a couple of different ways, and it will not mount very easily down here.

So, again, it's a cleaner installation if you install it up here and it'll give it a much more factory look. Most vehicles come with them up there. That's probably why that plug is back there, but it's really up to you however you want to install. Now, you can see this bracket back here. It is kind of coincides with the license plate bracket, but you can see the fitment is the same as that bracket that comes with our 7 and 4-pole.

It's much easier just to cut this out, cut the plastic out from this backside and then insert your plug from the front and you should be all good to go. You can see here what we're talking about. This plug is not quite long enough to reach out and to plug into the connector up under the bumper, but right here, it would fit perfect. Now, there's gonna be two different ways you can get this kit. You can get it with just the plug and the bracket, which is what we would need for this vehicle. If your vehicle does not have the factory relays, you will need to get the plug, the bracket and the three relays in order to get the 7-pole functions back to the back of the vehicle. We'll show you which relays they are so you can check whether or not you have the correct relays. The relays we're looking for are going to be your trailer tow, your trailer turn left hand, and your trailer turn right hand. That is going to be this brown fuse, this blue fuse and this blue fuse. As you can see, in the kit, we get a brown fuse and two blue fuses. But for our vehicle, we already have those. If you pop the hood of your vehicle, look in this panel, it's right next to the battery. Pop this lid off. If you have those three relays, just pick up the 7 and 4-pole plug and you're good to go. Plug it in and you can start towing a trailer. Well guys, hopefully this video helped you decide whether or not the Hopkins 7 and 4-pole connector is right for you and which kit is right for your 2023 Nissan Titan.

2006 Nissan Armada

Great product, but for the 2006 Nissan Armada, you need another blue relay to install under the steering column to the left. you have to remove the lower dash to be able to see it. There is a relay plug there that you need to put in a blue relay to make the running lights work.

2010 Nissan Titan

Easy to install on my 2010 Nissan Titan. All I had to do was plug it into the factory wiring. The only problem I ran into was there is a third relay that needs to be installed for this to work properly. Without it all of the trailer lights worked except for the running lights. I took my truck into a Nissan dealer and they added the relay, somewhere under the dash.

Excellent customer service. Quick shipping. Easy installation. The video was clear and helpful. Could not ask for more from etrailer. Will order from them again.

2005 Nissan Titan

Product worked great had no power to the left turn signal after doing some research online found [online] video where there’s two hidden fuses near the steering column wiring harness and one head blown due to prior towing…. Supposedly only applies to 2004 2005 Nissan titans 2006 and later according to forums Nissan fixed it and put additional fuses and relays in the fuse block under the hood

Honda Pilot

The product was everything I needed minus an extra blue relay which I did not realize needed to be ordered additionally. I should have read the comments section of others who had ordered this and would have known ahead of time. I ordered the extra blue relay and once it arrives everything will be complete.

The installation was straight forward. Drilled some pilot holes for the bracket unto the bottom of the hitch cross bar. Used the supplied self tapping screws to mount the plate. Popped in the 7/4-Way Flat Vehicle End Trailer Connector, plugged the factory installed trailering plug into this, and the relays under the hood fuse box (marked by factory) and all worked perfectly. Need the extra blue relay for the under dash trailer wiring connection for driving lights to work on trailer. It is to the left of the steering column, mounted on a metal support bracket behind the plastic knee protector area. This same area is where you would plug in the e-brake connection if you wanted to add that.

Hope this helps.

Nissan

Although I have not installed it yet, it looks to be of good quality. As far as I can tell i think I will be able to mount it in the factory oem location in the bumper. Nissan doesn't sell the trailer plug separately from the factory hitch so this saved me lots of cash.

  • Trailer Hitch Receiver and Wiring Harness for a 2017 Nissan Titan with No Tow Package
Even though your 2017 Nissan Titan doesn't have the tow package it should still have the standard round connector to install trailer wiring behind the rear bumper. Part # N40975 includes the 7-way and 4-way connector that plugs right into your truck, as well as the relays to installto activate the wiring. I've linked a video that shows the install on a 2010 Titan for you. The process is the same. With a trailer that large it's likely to hve brakes so you need a brake controller. I...

  • Trailer Lights Work with Battery But Do Not Work when Connected to Truck
Since the lights work on a different trailer then like you said the issue must be on the trailer. To determine the issue you will first want to check the trailers connector. If there is any dirt or corrosion you will need to clean it out on the pins and where the wires attach. Next make sure the main trailer connector ground and the grounds for all of the lights are attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces. Then you will want to inspect the trailer wiring from the plug...

  • Trailer Lights Won't Work When Connected to 2011 Nissan Titan
There are a couple of things you can look at here, but if you've blown any of the towing fuses on your 2011 Nissan Titan, it's likely that the overload was caused by some wiring issues that can develop over time. If this is a new installation that isn't operating, your Titan may not be equipped with the towing relays that are required-but they can be purchased with # C57000 . If this is an older install where the lights have stopped working, I would first go ahead and check those fuses...

  • Everything Works Except Trailer Running Lights After Wiring is Installed on a 2006 Nissan Armada
I thought this one over for a while and could not come up with a definite solution. I asked our installer and he has not had the opportunity to install a harness on this vehicle yet. I then jumped on the internet and found a couple of interesting notes on the 2006 Armada. Apparently there is a relay socket under the dash just to the left of the steering column. Since your vehicle did not have the towing package installed at the factory this relay was not installed and will be needed to...

  • No Power to Trailer Wiring Harness # N40975 Installed on a 2011 Nissan Armada
It is possible that the relays are not in the correct locations for wiring harness # N40975. Consult the owners manual for all of the locations and make sure they are in the right spots. On some Nissan vehicles an additional relay is needed next to the steering column under the dash. It will be a small blue relay. You can obtain the relay from the dealer or use one of the blue ones in kit # C57000.

  • Only Some Trailer Lights Work with 2005 Nissan Titan with Factory Tow Package
We do separately offer only the relays for Nissan vehicles that come as part of the kit you referenced, part # N40975. The three relays by themselves are available as part # C57000. I have linked a video showing installation of these relays in a 2011 Titan. These install in the relay box behind the battery; the underside of the box cover should have labels for each relay socket. If these relays are missing or damaged then this kit should take care of the issue. You might also want to check...

Hey Dan! Does your factory connector look like the 7- and 4-Pole Trailer Connector Socket # HM40975? This is the same as the # N40975 you looked at but without the relays. This is designed to fit a standard USCAR connector like the one in the attached picture. • Correct Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller and Wiring for 2015 Nissan Titan
Hello Idelfonso; the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller w/ Custom Harness # RED53CR is the correct part for your 2015 Nissan Titan. This comes with a custom wiring harness that plugs into the tow port under your dash. No cutting or splicing will be required. However, one thing you need to do is see if you have the factory tow package. If you have a working 7-way at the back of the truck it is safe to say you do. If not, you can add the 7-way using the Factory Style 7-Way and 4-Way...

Trailer running lights not working with certain Nissan vehicles is a common problem with an easy fix. If that relay is missing or no longer functions then it can be replaced with one of the blue relays from the Curt Relay Kit # C57000.

I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13304 for your 2019 Nissan Titan because we have found that the Curt hitches tend to have better welds and a thicker powder coat which means they will last longer than other options. For wiring you just need the wiring kit # N40975 as well as the mounting bracket # 18136. To activate the brakesYou'll also need a 7-way socket at the back of your Armada for the trailer to plug into and receive the signals from the Armada. If you don't have a 7-way but do have the factory connector tucked up back there then you can just install the Hopkins # N40975. The first thing I would check is the trailer wiring running light fuse located in the power distribution box under the hood. Once the fuse box is located check the legend on the lid to determine the correct fuse to check. Blown running light fuses are a common problem with the Nissan Titan trucks. If the running light fuse is not blown or missing, you should also check fuses in the cab of the truck. Again use the legend on the cover, you will have a fuse box on the passengers side and...

The green wire circuit is most likely your right turn/stop and the brown wire is most likely the running lights.
