Furrion's transfer switch is wired to automatically change the primary source of AC current from shore power or an inverter to a generator when available. So, in the case that you unexpectedly lose shore power, the switch will automatically begin to run power to your RV's appliances from your generator.

The switch between power sources is seamless to the point that you won't even notice the difference in power being sent to your appliances and electronics. The 50-amp single pole switch provides 120V or 250V AC. To prevent electrical interruptions or damage to the system, the time delay function utilizes a 20-30 second window to switch between power sources. This protects against dangerous backfeed, and keeps the voltage from each power source from being active at the same time.

The time delay function features a bypass switch for inverter power. Since an inverter doesn't need time to warm up like a generator does, you can bypass the time delay for instant transfer from shore power to inverter power.

The plastic case has 15 punch-out holes which allow you to arrange the cables and wiring in whatever way is best for your setup. The included user manual lays out 3 typical setups for you.

The switch wires to your shore power input and generator or inverter input. Both inputs are wired to the AC panel.

  • Recommended Replacement For An Intellitec 50 Amp Transfer Switch
Yes, the Furrion Automatic Transfer Switch - 50 Amp - 125/250V # F50ATS is a compatible replacement for your Intellitec 50 amp transfer switch. This transfer switch automatically reroutes your RV's AC input from shore power to generator power when activated. It features a time delay to only allow one input to feed your RV's breaker panel at a time, which allows generator voltage to stabilize before the transfer occurs so that you have a break in power service. This feature also protects...

  • Troubleshoot Furrion Transfer Switch 50 Amp # F50ATS
If I understand your statement correctly, you have the Furrion Automatic Transfer Switch, # F50ATS installed but are not getting power to the RV. If you have not yet attempted to isolate/by pass the transfer switch to ensure the issue is within the unit itself I suggest this be your next step. Please review the attached wiring diagram and image to ensure your transfer switch is installed accordingly.

  • Recommended Replacement For A Power Switch 50 Amp Transfer Switch
Hi Dell, Yes, the Furrion Automatic Transfer Switch # F50ATS can replace your PS250 50 amp transfer switch. When swapping over to the unit transfer switch you'll want to first disconnect from shore or generator power. The shore power and generator terminals inside of the Furrion # F50ATS are flip flopped from how your PS250 is laid out but the concept is still the same between the two with the shore power terminal being the priority for the transfer switch to kick over to when available....

  • Can A Furrion 50 Amp Automatic Transfer Switch Replace An Elkhart LPT50MRD Transfer Switch
Hi Les, The Furrion Automatic Transfer Switch # F50ATS will be a compatible replacement for your Elkhart LPT50MRD transfer switch. That being said, a 4000w Magnum inverter would wire into your main panel and a sub panel and would automatically kick on to power the sub panel when shore power is lost. Transfer switches like the # F50ATS are for switching between generator and shore power. Your inverter is only putting out 30 amp service so the 50 amp transfer switch would never sense the...

  • How Does Furrion Automatic Transfer Switch Work
Hi Rick; yes, it is the same concept with the Furrion Automatic Transfer Switch # F50ATS. The transfer switch is wired to automatically change from shore power or an inverter to a generator when available. Just like with your home setup, if you unexpectedly lose shore power the switch will automatically begin to run power to your RV's appliances from your generator.

  • Difference Between Go Power and Furrion RV Transfer Switches
Hey Rob, the big differences between the two transfer switch is that the Go Power part # 34270278 is made in the USA and has a metal case whereas the Furrion part # F50ATS is not made in the US and has a plastic case. This is why it costs less. Generally speaking the LiFEPo batteries do not require venting but you still want to check with the battery manufacturer to be certain.

  • Can a Solar Power System Be Used To Keep Residential Refrigerator Cold On a 5TH Wheel Camper?
There are some considerations you will need to determine to determine if you will be able to power your refrigerator without the generator. First you need to understand that your Battery # BRW34FR is what will ultimately determine how long your refrigerator will be able to stay cold. So in general, if your RV is rated for 50 amps, you use the Furrion Automatic Transfer Switch - 50 Amp - 125/250V # F50ATS, and if it is rated for 30 amps, you use the Furrion Automatic Transfer Switch - 30 Amp - 120V # F30ATS. It is possible to use a 50 Amp transfer switch with a 30 amp setup since you plan on upgrading in the future however, the Furrion Transfer 50 Amp Switch is made for 50 Amp setups. I recommend to use Progressive Dynamics 50 Amp Transfer Switch part # PD52. This 50 Amp transfer switch will allow you to hook up the 30 Amp shore power to the HOT 1 connection in the box. When you decide to upgrade to a 50 amp setup, you will use HOT 1 and HOT 2.

Yes. You could use the Progressive Dynamics # PD52 to replace your Furrion # F50ATS; they're both rated for 50amps so they are compatible. The Furrion does provide a bit of extra protection against power surges though with it's 125/250v supply, so I do prefer that choice when possible.
