Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove the tail light assemblies to access this harness. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead up to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Because most trailers run on a two-wire system - wherein the brake and turn signals are carried on one wire - the separate brake and turn signals from your vehicle's three-wire system need to be combined so they are compatible with the wiring system of the trailer. This converter combines the brake and turn signal functions of your automobile so that they run on one wire to properly activate your trailer's tail lights. Note: This will not affect how the tail lights on your vehicle operate.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.

Easy peasy!!! The video you posted for the install on my 21 Jeep GC was spot on!!! I have a hitch on my older Jeep and was excited to find this kit for my newer Jeep! Adding the hitch tomorrow when it arrives!! Installed on the day of delivery no problem!! Thank you for this easy solution!
The trailer hitches was easily installed. The wiring wasn't bad, what I expected. I've used it a few times and haven't had any issues. It would've been nice to be in the location of the factory purchased hitch, but I realize that might have required cutting the lower trim piece.
Was a direct plug and play into the tail lights. The biggest challenge is finding a good path to run the power wire from front. Overall, this product is as advertised.
Originally ordered the wrong part when trying to add a trailer hitch to my Grand Cherokee. After speaking to Ashley she helped me get the correct part I needed. The customer service I received exceeded my expectations. Delivery was fast with no missing parts. The install was a breeze and everything worked accordingly. The trailer is excellent and the installer did a fantastic job. I love how it’s hidden behind a bumper panel so it’s completely unnoticeable. The installer was professional and a saint.
Install was fairly easy on 2014 Grand Cherokee and works well. Would have given 5 stars but the driver side (yellow) harness was quite short for my vehicle, if it were a foot longer install would be much easier.
Excellent customer service! Good instructions and reference videos makes the install easy enough for most to conquer. I do wish the connectors were OEM as the locks are tough to engage.
2021 Jeep GC 3.6 no factory tow package, this was an excellent option to add. Not being the 5.7 the 4 pole connector is perfect. Hardest thing is running the wires if you’re on your back on the garage floor. Lift would make this a 2 star difficulty but since I was on the floor it was a 3.5 out of 5 for difficulty. Grease isn’t needed if you use the butt shrink connectors like in the video, I also added the shrink wire sleeves over the connector (without a doubt it is weather proof doing this). Plugged in the tester and all worked as advertised. Highly recommend if you want to save money, my whole setup ran me under $xxx, Jeep dealer wanted close to $xK for hitch/7 pole/labor. I recommend to everyone if you’re towing a trailer with lights and no brake setup.
It's pretty good. I wish the left side wiring was a little longer. It would have given me a better location to mount the controller.
Takes two hrs to run wires. No zip ties should be designed to plug in back of 12v power supply in cargo area
Only give it an average rating since I had to purchase a replacement harness since the original Curt harness quit working after 3 years.
High quality wiring kit. Has held up great after a year's use. Video very helpful with installation.

Simple and straight forward to connect. Everything I needed came in the bag with the kit.
Installation was exactly as described inn the videos... Doesn't mean it was easy. WHY don't I have a LIFT???
Seriously, the lights work and do what they need to. eTrailer was amazingly fast and efficient as always. This is the third or fourth item I have ordered from them and everyone is the perfect fit for the application.
Perfect fit, easy install, works great. Pulled a u-haul trailer about 3000 mi on freeways, in cities, on small roads and on gravel roads to campsites - worked perfectly.

One of the harness plugs was dead, tested with a conductive unit. Instead of having it replaced I spliced around it. Poorly made product.
Kit was good quality. Instructions were good for someone with some experience. Needed 3x more zipties for securing wiring.
Great products and great videos. The task intimidated me until I watched the videos and saw how simple the job was. The 30lb hitch was a bit of a challenge to this eighty-something year old, laying on the ground and working over my head, but it got done -- simple but physically challenging. The wiring was super simple but, again, the video showing how to use fish-tape to snake the harness through tight quarters was a life saver. Very pleased with the quality of the products.
It worked on my 2020 Grand Cherokee, but I really could have used a couple more inches on the wires to the left taillight. I mounted it as shown in the video and then couldn't reinstall the light. I was able to move it and it worked out. I can attest that the adhesive pad holds well! I also had to trim some extra plastic off one of the plugs.
