Question:
Is it possible that the Curt 4 flat wire harness can go bad? I have taillights, both turns, and flashers, but no running lights. When I jump from the vehicle brake light plug, trailer running lights will work. Thanks

It is possible that the Curt 4-way connector like the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C62VR can short out. This is usually caused by a short in the trailer wiring.
You can test your harness by using a circuit tester like # PTW2993 to check the running light wire going into the converter box, and the wire coming out of the converter box. If you have power going in, but not coming out the converter has shorted out and will need to be replaced.
The reason for this is to prevent a short from damaging any of your vehicles wiring, and before installing a new harness I recommend checking the running light wires on your trailer to confirm there is not a damaged wire that could be shorting out.
