E16 5th Wheel Jaw

Simple, Secure Hookup

With a dual-pivoting head that offers 10 degrees of lateral movement, the E16 fifth-wheel hitch makes hookup a snap, even on unlevel ground. Once the king pin slides into the hitch, the auto-locking, slide-bar jaw secures it in place. A unique feature of the E16 is the rear steel tension bar within the jaw that activates upon hookup to clamp down on the king pin, providing a tighter grip that maximizes security and minimizes rattle.

Non-Binding S20 Slider

Specially designed for trucks with 6' to 8' beds, this non-binding slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

Video Transcript for Replacement Head Unit for Curt E16 Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitch Review

Hey guys, this is Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be going over the CURT E16 replacement 5th wheel head. This is designed to replace your E16 5th wheel head. If you've already got one and you're wanting to replace it. If it got damage or if it's old and rusty this is gonna be a perfect fit. It's also gonna come with the replacement bracket.

If you'd like to swap out the head on the S20 which is their new slider base, you can put this in, mount it to the correct height and then put this hitch head right in the top of it. You are gonna get all the replacement parts that initially come with the kit so you'll get new hardware, new pins, a new handle, and this bracket. The best way to get this set up inside the S20 base is to set your head height with the bracket first and then set the head on top of it. Now with our new hardware, we can set the height of our hitch a lot easier than a lot of other hitches out there. A lot of 'em are gonna have to set it with the head attached but this bracket only weighs about 10 pounds so it's really easy to get it in place.

Now to get your new head in place, it's as simple as setting it on top of the bracket. And again, it will come with two new pins. And that's, I think that's kind of nice 'cause when you're replacing you know, new parts you'd like to put new hardware in too 'cause chances are these are gonna be pretty wore out. So some of the reasons why you would need to replace your 5th wheel head is if it's got a lot of rust on it it's gonna start to affect the integrity of the strength of the hitch itself. So if it's got too much rust you might think about replacing it.

If you've not been using enough grease or any grease at all this head can start to score and once it starts scoring you can't really go back 'cause it needs a smooth surface to slide on your kingpin base. Another reason is your grease gets dirty that can cause scoring. If you're not using a lube plate. There's a lot of different reasons of why you would need to replace this head. If your mechanism isn't working correctly anymore.

But it's good to know that you can just replace the head. But with that being said, a lot of people what they'll do is they'll, if they have an A16 or an E16 head and they have the traditional base but they get a new vehicle and they'd like to switch to the slider, you can keep your old head, get the slider, and then later on you can replace the head. So there's several different options and reasons of why you would need a new E16 head. Well, with all that being said, we've got it all installed it's ready to go, and it's ready for our next trip.

  • Base Rails, Brackets and Fifth Wheel Hitch for 2009 Ford F-150
Though you can mount a fifth wheel hitch in your 2009 Ford F-150, I reached out to Demco who told me that due to the age of the Demco SL16 FWH-34 there are no brackets available which will work to fit that hitch in your '09 Ford F-150. Due to that your best option to pull a fifth wheel with this truck is a new fifth wheel hitch along with an installation kit and base rails that are compatible. The Curt under bed brackets, # C16441 do fit your 2011 Ford F-150 short bed but they are just the under bed brackets and not the whole installation kit. We have always found the Lil Rocker as a fit for industry standard rails. It is possible like you said that it was twisted or bend somehow. You can also check that the rails are lined up properly by measuring from the center of the outside mounting slot diagonally to the center of the opposite slot on the other rail. Then repeat with the other side outside slot. The measurements should be the same. If not then the rails are not square. Take a look at the picture to see what I mean. I...

  • Is There a Mopar Puck System For The Factory 5TH Wheel to Fit a 2020 Ram 1500 with 6'4" Bed?
While Ram does not offer a puck system for your 2020 Ram 1500 Jim, I can help you get everything you need to be able to pull your 5th wheel. First you will need a Rail Kit # C16307-204 for a place to attach the 5TH Wheel Hitch # C95DR. And I would also recommend installing a 7-Way # 41157 in your bed to not damage the wiring from extending over your tailgate.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch and Rail Kit Recommendation for a 2012 Ram 1500
You would be barely under the towing capacity but technically yes, if your 2012 Ram 1500 has a 10,250 towing capacity and the trailer you are looking at weighs 10,244 lbs you would be good to go. However, you need to consider the fact that when you are towing this trailer you only will have about 6 lbs worth of capacity left over for cargo. Realistically that's probably not going to be enough so a lighter trailer would be a better choice. The part # RP30081 that you referenced would be...

  • Fifth Wheel and Rail Install Kit Recommendation for a 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD
A 2015 Chevy Silverado 2500HD with a Duramax diesel engine should have no problem towing a trailer with the weights you listed. Since different options will give different towing capacities you will still want to check with the Chevy dealer you are shopping at to be 100 percent certain. If a long bed truck is an option at all I would recommend that over the short bed. Short bed trucks require a slider hitch so that the setup has the needed clearance to make tight turns. While a ton of...

  • Fifth Wheel Rail Kit and Sliding Hitch Recommendation for a 2014 Ram 1500 Short Bed
There is a rail kit available that will work on your 2014 Ram 1500 without air suspension. Check out the Curt Fifth Wheel Installation kit part # C16306-204. This rail kit is compatible with Curt fifth wheel hitches. For a 16k slider hitch I like the Curt E16 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ S20 Slider # C95DR. The jaws of this hitch provide 360 degree contact with the king pin to minimize jarring and chucking.

  • Towing Capacity and Recommended Hitch to Tow a 5th Wheel Trailer with a 2014 Toyota Tundra
The towing capacity of your 2014 Tundra is determined by Toyota, not either dealership. I recommend checking your owner's manual with your truck's specifics. Or you can contact Toyota with your VIN and they should be able to tell you how it came directly from the factory. I looked up a copy of your truck's manual but I'd still look at a printed copy if possible because as you said it has the tow package and 5.7L V8 but the capacity also depends on the bed length and cab style. From what...

This is a custom install kit that will install in about half the time as a universal kit and will minimize drilling.

  • Fifth Wheel Hitch, Rail Kit and Suspension Enhancement for 2015 GMC 1500 Sierra
To determine the towing capacity for your 2015 Chevy Silverado you will need to find the vehicle placard where the statement "The combined weight of occupants and cargo should never exceed XXX kg or XXX lbs." You will need to add the weight of all of the cargo and passengers in your vehicle together and subtract that from the XXXX number to determine your overall towing capacity. I checked the owners manual of your vehicle to acquire this information. For a fifth wheel hitch for your...
