Today we're going to be showing you how to replace the pull pin for the drop leg on the etrailer and RAM brand 10,000lb square jacks. This is also going to fit several other type of square jack. Part number on it is going to be TJD-12000-PPN. This is going to be a 3/4" diameter pin. It's going to come with the pin that we need, the spring that helps keep it in place or pops it back into place, the washer and also the cotter pin that we're going to need for a complete replacement of this component. Now, we've got our jack set up here. What we need to do is get our drop leg extended slightly so we can gain access into the underside.
That's where our cotter pin and that's going to be. If your pin is still in place, you'll need to rotate it to the unlock position. Now, I like to use a 1/2" extension to go in one of our holes. It's a good idea to have an extra set of hands if your jack's not attached to the trailer. If it is, you probably won't have to worry too much about it, but we'll pull that out and we'll place that tension in one of the holes. As you can see, that's going to hold that extended so we can get in here and work.
See our cotter pin's going to be right here. This is what keeps the tension on that spring as well as, of course, that washer there. We'll begin to pull out on the cotter pin itself. Now, once you have this partially out, you don't want to have your fingers under there or anything because that spring is going to go back to its original position, like that. It's going to lift our pin out, take the spring out and also the washer. Now, at that point, we can place our washer back in there, also our spring.
We can stick our new pin in. Once we have that seated down in there, you want to get either a large screwdriver or something underneath this washer so we can lift it up and compress it. We'll be able to see our hole there. We need to slide that cotter pin back in. We'll rotate it slightly there.
We have to keep this cotter pin back just a little bit so we can rotate it. You can see as we rotate it there, we want to have the clearance enough to get into that longer tab of that cotter pin. We want to bend that outwards. Once have it to where we can see that longer side of the cotter pin, we'll push the cotter pin the rest of the way in. Now, we just want to be sure that we expand that cotter pin so our pin won't slip out. Very, very unlikely to, but just want to get that flexed open. Just like that. Now, we can have our extra set of hands help us again. We'll just pull down on the base of the jack, pull that extension out and we'll be back operational. Now, in this position that's going to lock our drop leg down, and if we rotate it, it's going to snap back into position. That's going to complete our replacement of the pull pin assembly for the etrailer and RAM 10,000lb square jacks. Part number TJD-12000-PPN.
