Roller Bunks

CE Smith's roller bunks convert your boat trailer's guide-ons from bunk board style to roller style. Instead of sliding on and off your trailer's bunk boards, your boat will smoothly roll. This not only simplifies the process of loading and unloading, but it also protects your boat's hull against scratches. Mounted in a rust-resistant galvanized steel channel, the durable rubber rollers absorb road shock during trailering.

Installation

The roller bunks are pre-assembled and can be mounted directly to your existing bunk boards (mounting hardware is sold separately). If you want to replace your bunk boards and attach the roller bunks to the front and rear crossmembers of your trailer frame, use a four-pack of swivel mounting brackets (CE10003G-4 - sold separately). These brackets allow you to install the roller bunks at different heights. In addition, the brackets enable the bunks to tilt to accommodate and support boat hulls of different sizes.

Galvanized Steel

Steel parts are galvanized by being hot-dipped in zinc after they have been stamped. This creates a coating that is typically 3 mil to 5 mil thick. This thick, all-around coating allows galvanized steel products to provide years of use without rusting or corroding.

Video Transcript for CE Smith Roller Bunks for Boat Trailers Review

Today on our boat trailer we're going to review and install the C.E. Smith roller bunks, Part Number: CE27710. This is our 5' long, 6 roller bunk. It's also available in a 4' long, 5 rollers, Part Number: CE27700. Now here we are with our boat trailer in the water and we've got the standard boards. Now to launch our boat especially when you're doing it by yourself can be difficult because you got to push the boat off. I'm in the water and it's not very easy.

Now let's go ahead and see what the difference is with our C.E. Smith rollers. As you can see with the rollers installed, the boat simply slides off. You almost don't even need to push it in. Also just as easy as we launch our boat into the water, it's that easy to load the boat back onto the trailer. Now here's what the complete install is going to look like with our roller bunks in place on our trailer.

Each set of bunks will come with two 5' long lengths and 6 rollers with each length. Each set has 3 individual rollers. This is a channel style bunk, so it's a heavy duty 12 gauge galvanized steal construction making it amicable for fresh or salt water. It can attach in two ways, attach directly to wood bunks preexisting or added, or using the C.E. Smith trailer brackets. The rollers themselves are black heavy duty rubber so they'll absorb road shock and protect the hull from scratches loading and unloading.

Our rollers are 4-3/4" wide by 2-1/2" tall. The channel itself is 2-1/8" wide and from the top of the roller to the bottom of the channel is almost 3". Our bunk capacity is 1,500 pounds. Now let's go ahead and show you how to install it. To begin our install, we're going to remove the old or manufacturers boards and brackets. Since we're removing the bunk boards and brackets, we're just going to take the U-bolts off the frame.

Quick tech tip: before you remove your boards, take a tape measure and get the heighth of your board. That way when you install your new brackets and rollers you can set it back to the same heighth. Now as we have the boards loose, we'll go ahead and just take them off the trailer and set them aside as they will not be reinstalled. Next we're going to install the new C.E. Smith bracket, Part Number: CE10003G. Our bracket will replace the old or manufacturers bracket that we removed. Now to secure our bracket to the frame, we're going to use the C.E. Smith U-bolt, Part Number: CE15283GA. The U-bolt will go around the frame into the bracket and then get secure with a split lock washer and nut. Let's go ahead and put it in place now. Now as we install our fasteners we're just going to install them finger tight this time. Keep in mind when you tighten down your U-bolt, make sure you tighten down both sides evenly. Once we have our bracket installed we'll go ahead and tighten it down. All right, now here on our rear support or rear portion of our frame, we're going to go ahead and install our bracket and U-bolt. Our bracket and U-bolt are going to sit in the exact same position as the old or manufacturers bracket. Then again to secure it we'll use a split lock washer and hex nut on each side of our U-bolt. Remember when tightening down your U-bolt, make sure you tighten down both sides evenly. Now we'll go ahead and repeat the same process for the remaining brackets. We'll now go ahead and take the roller bunk, set it onto our brackets, and secure the bunk to the brackets. Now when securing your bunk to the brackets the hardware is not supplied. I'm going to use a bolt and flat washer. It's going to go down through the roller bunk then though the bracket, and underneath I'm going to add another washer and a nylon lock nut. Now once we have all our hardware in place we can tighten it down. And that'll do it for our review and install of the C.E. Smith roller bunks for boat trailers, Part Number: CE27710 on our boat trailer.

Application is for a boat house carriage and even with higher water this year, the roller bunks continue to work great.

Repeat customer. Excellent product. I'm using them as a ramp up in a boat house for additional support on the rear end. Pulls a large 18 ft up with winch smoothly. I now have two sets on both sides and i'm thoroughly impressed. Highly recommend. 654808

I am very pleased with these rollers. The are build very strong and I am sure will last a long time. It has been a pleasure working with you. Another thing I really liked was the set up you gave me to track the shipment. It was the first time I've seen this, and it works so easy. I will sure plan on using you for anything else I need for my boat. Thanks Gerry 636312

I love these roller bunks. Purchased two pairs of the four-foot size to mount on my floating dock to park my two Yamaha Waverunners on to keep them high and dry. They work and perform more than perfectly. I mounted each bank of rollers on a 2"x6" board for the required added clearance at 23" inches apart on center. Perfect. They can be rolled off easily by hand by one person, once marine grade grease(optional) was applied to each roller mechanism with a grease gun. Wipe them off, and there is no mess. I am actually going to mount another two pair on to a plywood spare removable platform on a general-use utility trailer, making it unecessary to purchase a usually poorly built purpose-built trailer. Nearly one year out in the open on the Florida Gulf Coast at the beach with zero rust to-date. Unheard of in these parts. Enough said. Thank you so very much for you help with such a fine product. Purchased Roller Bunks for the boat trailer. My 18 ft. Sundance slides off with ease. These seem to be the most sturdy bolt on bunks on the market. Great price and super fast free shipping made it worthwhile shopping here. 424912

Unless your boat's bottom is perfectly flat for the length of the rollers, these will have only a few points of contact and stress your hull. My hull is very slightly curved, which my bunks easily conformed to, but these rollers did not. And they didn't make it easier to push off the boat. 394471

  • The CE Smith Roller Bunks for Boat Trailers - 6 Rollers Each - 5' Long - 1,500 lbs - 1 Pair # CE27710 will work well for your LoadRite trailer. If you want the 4 foot option, you can use # CE27700. This will work with the CE Smith Bolster and Swivel Bracket Assemblies for Roller Bunks - Galvanized Steel - Qty 4 # CE10003G-4. Or if you wanted the bunks not to have any gaps between them you could go with an additional set of 4 foot bunks part # CE27700 and you could trim them down to match the length needed.

  • Will Roller Bunks Work on Jet Ski Trailer
  • The CE Smith Roller Bunks - 5' Long # CE27710 will absolutely work for your jet ski trailer and they will contour to your jet skis in the exact same manner as the bunk boards you have now do. The roller bunks should match the length of your existing bunk boards and there is the aforementioned 5' long boards as well as the CE Smith Roller Bunks for Boat Trailers - 4' Long # CE27700. • Recommended Roller Bunks to Replace 7 Foot Bunks on Boat Trailer
  • I spoke with my contact at CE Smith and she stated that 5 foot roller bunks will be adequate for your 15-1/2 foot Smokercraft Alaskan, as long as the space between the cross members are 56 inches or less. If the space is more than that, the 5 foot long bunks will not be enough and you can then obtain two sets of 4 foot bunks and have them cut to size. You can also use the CE Smith Mounting Brackets, # CE10003G-4, if you want to replace the wood bunks with the roller bunks. • How To Choose the Correct Roller or Carpeted Bunk Boards for a Trailer
  • The size of bunk board or bunk roller you will need for your boat trailer is based off the hull size. However, generally speaking the manufacturer knows what size roller/bunk works best for the boat/trailer. Therefore I recommend using the same size that the trailer came with but it wouldn't hurt to go a bit longer if you have room. If you are switching from rollers to carpeted bunk boards then I would go longer. For the carpeted bunk board option we have part # CE27800 which are 36"...
