  • Vertical load limit: 4,500 lbs

  • Travel: 12" front to back

Quiet, Secure Ride

The 3/4" thick jaw on the Patriot is precision machined to provide a tight, sturdy connection. And unlike slide-bar models, the rounded 2-piece jaw on this fifth-wheel trailer hitch inhibits rattle and movement by securely wrapping around your trailer's king pin, resulting in easier hookup and a safer, quieter ride.

In addition to the sturdy jaw, the Patriot has durable polyurethane bushings built in to provide a smoother, more comfortable towing experience. These bushings sit on top of the pivot arms that support the fifth-wheel head. Because the head is resting on padded area, it is able to pivot without clanking. The ability of the head to pivot - both front to back and side to side - along with the trailer also helps to limit the chucking that may occur with a more static hitch.

Non-Binding Latch Handle

The dual jaw on the Patriot is operated by a simple-to-use cam-action handle. This handle allows you to quickly and easily release the jaws on the hitch, even if you are on uneven terrain. If any binding does occur between your truck and trailer, the jaws may remain closed after you move the handle to the open position. But because the handle is unlatched, there is nothing keeping the jaws closed except for the binding pressure. Therefore, simply driving your truck forward will be enough to force the jaws to open.

The cam-action handle is held in the closed position with the included pin and clip. For extra security, you can replace the pin with a sturdy padlock. The shackle on the lock you choose should have a diameter of 5/16", height of 3", and a width of 2-1/4".

Easily Adjustable Design

The B&W Patriot can be adjusted up and down for optimal positioning. As a result, this hitch can easily accommodate the height of your trailer.

Built-In Slider

Most often used on trucks with 6' beds, a slider helps to eliminate clearance problems during slow-speed turns. When you are towing a fifth-wheel trailer, your hitch must be situated on the cab side of your truck's rear axle. However, at slow speeds you can use a slider to slide the fifth-wheel hitch (and the trailer) toward your truck's tailgate and past the rear axle, creating enough space between the cab of your truck and the trailer to permit less-restricted turning.

The slider that is built into the base of the Patriot allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need.

Video Transcript for B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Head Assembly Replacement Review

Hello, neighbors, this is Brad here at "etrailer," and today, we're taking a look at the BMW Patriot replacement head assembly for the Patriot fifth wheel. Now whether you're replacing a damaged head that you had on your Patriot, or you just wanna refresh what you currently have, or even if you have a bunch of trucks in the fleet, and don't wanna buy the whole assembly, you can simply swap this head back and forth to each vehicle, and having that replacement head is a great option. That way you're not having to buy the full fifth wheel kit. Now it's gonna have all the same functions as the previous Patriot head that you had. So you still have that locking jaw, you still have that nice handles to drop it in place. It goes around those urethane bushings, and overall, just a great head.

If you've ever used a Patriot before, you know right away that it's really great to use. It's super easy and it articulates enough. So even on unlevel ground hooking up or unhooking is no problem. And just as you did before to drop your new head on, it's gonna go on just like you had your previous fifth wheel. (metal clanking) Just right there.

Drop in place, pull your handle back, hook up to your kingpin, and you're ready to go. Now this is gonna be a perfect replacement for the 18K that we have here, as well as your sliding 18K and also the 16K. Now as you've probably seen before, BMW has that nice gray powder coat finish, and it feels durable and feels great. All the touchpoints are really nice on here. And your cam-actuating handle here is really nice for that jaw.

It's gonna cut down on rattling around as like your slide pin normally would. And it also has that nice security, the fact that it goes all the way around that kingpin. Now this is rated at 18,000 pounds, so again, it's a direct replacement for this one here. But if you have a 16,000 base, just because this is rated at 18,000, you're gonna want to go with that lower number just to stay safe. You also have that vertical limit or load of 4,500 pounds.

And that was a look at the BMW replacement head assembly for the Patriot fifth wheel.

  • Recommended Custom Fifth Wheel Rail Kit For A 2014 Ford F-150 With A 5-1/2 Foot Bed
The Curt Custom 5th Wheel Installation Kit 16424-104 is designed to fit the 2011 to 2016 Ford F-250, F-350, and F-450 Super Duty trucks. I checked with Curt and, unfortunately, they currently do not have a kit available to fit the 5-1/2 foot option for your F-150. However, I do have another American made option that will suit your needs. Yes, the Curt Universal Fifth Wheel Base Rails with Installation Kit item # C16200 will fit your 2004 F-150 Crew Cab. This is a universal kit so it will fit most trucks you just have to drill holes in the frame. A way better option would be to use the B&W Custom Installation Kit w/ Base Rails item # BWRVK2404. This kit is custom fit and mounts in pre existing holes in your F-150's frame. This kit fits all of the bed lengths of the 2008 F-150. It will provide you with a set of industry...

The best quality and most affordable 5th wheel hitch for your 2011 Ford F-150 is going to be the B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch item # BWRVK3200. B&W makes the best 5th wheel hitches on the market. The dual jaw on the Patriot offers a secure connection with 360-degree jaw-to-king-pin contact. This 5th wheel hitch has a 16,000 lbs towing capacity and a 4,000 lbs vertical load limit. The Patriot also comes in a 18,000 lbs capacity item # BWRVK3255. To install the Patriot you are going...

  • Which B&W Patriot 5th Wheel Hitch for 2005 Ford F-150
The hitch option you'd need will depend on your bed length. If you have the 8 foot bed, the # BWRVK3200 you'd looked at would be perfect along with the # BWRVK2404 install kit. If you have a 6-1/2 foot 'standard' bed, you'll need a sliding hitch to provide proper clearance between the front of the 5th wheel and the rear of the truck cab. The # BWRVK3200 would not provide that clearance, but the sliding version, part # BWRVK3270 is what you'd want to use. You'll also need the # BWRVK2404...

It has a 16,000 lbs capacity which will work great with your Reflection 269RD 5th wheel trailer. A rotating pin box is the best option for your short bed 2014 F-150 because a slider will not give you enough clearance to turn and back into tight spaces with a 5-1/2' bed.
