Building a trailer How much space should you have between tire and inner fender

Expert Reply:
We recommend having about 4" of clearance height-wise to account for suspension movement and at least 2" width-wise between your tire and trailer fender or trailer frame like part # HP66VR that was referenced.

I have a 2017 Grand Design Reflection with 15" wheels. GD went to 16" wheels the next year. I want to replace my 15's with 16's. The tightest gap I have on one of my 15" tires to the underside surface of the slide out above it is 4-7/8". All the rest are at least 5". Do you think I have the room to add a 16" tire? I also have a 2" steel tube spacer welded to the frame that the spring hangers are welded onto. This was an add on to lift the trailers by Grand Design. I also have Sumo springs which help to dampen the bounce. This may help prevent the tire from hitting the slide out shield. Your thoughts about my ability to upgrade to 16" tires? Andy
