Features to know about

Smooth Ride Over Rough Roads: Rubber Cores Absorb Road Shock

When the road gets bumpy, a stock equalizer can send every hit straight through the frame. These Equa-Flex cushioned equalizers use rubber cores that soak up vibration and minimize the back-and-forth motion known as chucking. The result is a smoother ride that protects your trailer and everything inside. Rated for 4,000 lbs – 6,000 lbs axles, they deliver the kind of comfort normally found with torsion setups but without the extra cost or complexity.

Tough Construction That Lasts: Steel Housing with Bronze Bushings

Standard cast equalizers wear quickly and can creak or loosen up over time. The Equa-Flex design replaces them with sturdy steel that’s finished in a corrosion-resistant black powder coat. Each equalizer comes with six pre-installed bronze bushings that handle constant movement without binding or wearing out. The build quality keeps the suspension geometry tight so your tandem-axle setup stays reliable mile after mile.

Right Fit and Easy Install: 5-1/2" Center Spacing for Tandem Axles

Getting the geometry right makes all the difference in how your suspension travels. These equalizers measure 5-1/2" between the left and right bolt holes (center on center), 2-3/4" between the hanger hole and side hole, and 2-1/2" from the side bolt hole to the hanger bolt hole. They’re made for tandem-axle trailers with double-eye leaf springs, and the 9/16" bolt holes (with bushings installed) match standard suspension hardware. The bushings are already seated, so you can bolt them in place using standard hardware and shackle straps (each sold separately).

Illustration of a tandem axle trailer suspension system featuring Lippert Equa-Flex cushioned equalizers connecting leaf springs and hangers

Maintenance-Free Comfort: Built-In Bushings, No Extra Upkeep

Once installed, there’s nothing to grease or adjust. The maintenance-free bushings and rubber cores work quietly in the background, taking the edge off every bump and stretch of rough pavement. It’s a simple suspension upgrade that makes towing feel calmer, smoother, and easier every time you hit the road.

Came as expected. Grease spring bolts do not fit front and rear spring hangars if your RV is equipped with the comfort track system. You will need 3 1/2" spring bolts to properly fasten the forward and aft spring to spring hangar connection

by:

Easy to install. Raised the frame an inch. Much better than plastic bushings. Stouter system overall. Great investment

by:

Looks like a nice product, but I was told that bolts and bushing would be included. The bushings appear to be installed, but there are no bolts leaving me short 6 bolts, 3 per side. Now i will need to order six more bolts or find them locally to finish my project. Those of you buying this product you will need to buy the center hanger bolt and the two shackle mount bolts per side.

Ordering my parts from etrailer was a joy. They helped in every way they could. Received my parts on the day they said. Havent had time to put them on yet. Tickeld pink with etrailers service. Not the first time we have bought from them.

by:

Install was pretty straightforward. Changed out leafsprings and shakles as well. Havent driven yet with them to see how the bumsp are but I have high hopes.

by:

I had a challenging situation regarding a replacement Axle Equalizer from year 2011 and between the Tech side and Parts, they were able to help me.

by:

The operator was very helpful getting me the correct Equalizers. They help the trailer ride much smoother.

by:

We are so happy to learn about etrailer from our friend. Our experience ordering from etrailer was so pleasant working with Crystal. She was very knowledgeable and everything that we needed to replace the springs on our trailer and recommended items that we would need to make our installation perfect! Thank you so much for being available. We will definitely recommend etrailer to our friends and family.

by:

Ordering was easy and pain free. Shipping happened fast and the tracking was excellent. The correct parts arrived. It will be a few weeks before the parts are installed so I cannot rate them as to performance but when I do it will not have any bearing on the performance of etrailer.com as they did not make or brand them.

by:

I’m sure it will help the ride performance of my trailer by far thanks !!

Product arrived on time and in good condition. Installation is no problem, took about 2 hours. Test drove unit about 30 miles after installation. Must drive more miles before I can rate performance of the product.

by:

The Equa-Flex equalizers are a nice upgrade from original cast rigid equalizers that came on our Forest River trailer. They help absorb road bumps into the chassis and interior of our travel trailer.

by:

The equalizer and shackle kit were excellent quality and easy to install on 5th wheel. Everyone at etrailer was very helpful and concerned about my receiving parts on time. We were on the road at the time and thanks to their efforts we were back on the road in 3 days. By the way, I installed these myself at the campground!

by:

I purchased this product to upgrade my suspension on a brand new travel trailer that I was going to pull to Alaska. I had heard that the roads could be a bit rough and hard on trailer suspensions and did not want to break anything because of the relative inflexibility of the stock system. The product was super easy to install, but I ended up using the longer shackle brackets that were in the suspension upgrade I purchased because I could not get the stock length brackets to line up correctly with the leaf springs. This resulted in a lot more suspension travel than I was anticipating, but seemed to do no harm as a result.

The trailer pulled wonderfully all the way to Alaska and back, and did not result in any major upheavals within the trailer. The extra flexibility in the suspension did make it a bit trickier to level the trailer however, requiring greater block thickness on the side that needed to be raised. But ultimately this was no big deal.

Ultimately I can only imagine how the stock system would have performed, and my imagination suggests that it would have not been a pretty sight inside the trailer.

by:

They work as described............ Planned on installing "Never Fail Bushing" in place of the Bronze factory installed ones...............NOT POSSIBLE. The inside diameter of the bushing hole is undersized and not 11/16"............ Kind of disappointing. What do I do later when the Bronze bushings wear out??? Buy another set of equalizers??

Leroy,I contacted Lippert and it is possible to change out the integrated bronze bushings for never fail bushings on the sides of the equalizer. The original bushings can be switched out for 11/16 bushings.

by:

I received my Equa-flex cushioned equalizers along with the Never-Fail bushing kit both by Lippert. I did take delivery as projected by etrailer and have had them installed on my 5th wheel. So far, they are performing well and have given me peace of mind as we prepare to embark on a 10 - 15K trip to the west and northwest U.S. from Florida.
etrailer services and tech center were excellent. Cathy T.is exceptional!

Still going strong. We are considering more suspension enhancement in the future. etrailer will be our primary resource.

by:

I was able to install these myself. Was super easy once I got my trailer jacked up! I replaced the equalizers and the leaf springs at the same time. We are getting ready to take it out next week! They performed great last year and I felt the trailer rode better with these on!

Still working great! Thanks!

by:

Great product. My camper came with these when I purchased it new in 2012. I had a leaf spring break on our last trip and decided to replace the equalizers while replacing the springs. They do a great job with absorbing shock from rough roads which improves handling and track of the camper. I recommend this product and I recommend etrailer.com. Prices and selection are good and the fast, free shipping is definitely a huge plus. Attached are photos of the installation which include pics of the old ones that I replaced.

by:

First I must say what great customer service I received when I called to order the Equa-flex for my trailer. I talked to Rose in sales and she helped me pick the right suspension enhancements for my trailer. I installed the Equa-flex 5-6k and the Dexter heavy duty shackle kit on my 30' 2016 Forrest River Wildwood. The kit and the instructions were easy to read and understand. The kit is definitely an upgrade over the stock suspension, just look as t the pictures I provided. The trailer rides smooth and handles great. I will be installing the Equa-flex kit and shackle kik it on my Dads trailer this year. Thanks Etrailer for your great products and customer service.

by:

This was a great upgrade. I installed myself, the only issue I had was getting them lined up with the leaf spring. However, I got it figured out and the opposite side went much faster. I think the trailer pulls much better and you don't get the bounce after hitting a bump, RR tracks etc.. Glad that I made this upgrade. If I had one negative, it would be the packaging, the powder coat on one was scratched through.

by:

I think the parts was overcharged. Found the same parts same brand for half the price

by:

I needed to replace everything (suspension) on my 45 year old trailer. The equa-flex equalizers appeared to be an upgrade over standard type equalizers. It seems to tow better and smoother. Replaced leaf springs and all associated shackles with greasable shackle bolts. The MORyde shackle kit did not work for my application - the shackles were too long, went back standard length shackles for the correct angles on the equalizers. My trailer weighs around 6500 lbs., we’ll see how the equa-flex units hold up. Overall, I would recommend this product. etrailer was great to deal with.

by:

Have not installed them yet but plan to install the new equa-flex equalizers and wet bolt kit this weekend. The sales man that helped me went above and beyond trying to come up with the right setup.the items were shipped that same day.

by:

Parts were exactly the same as the original. Customer help from Amy at etrailer was excellent she was very knowledgeable and helpful in finding the right part for my camper trailer. I highly recommend this company for any trailer parts that you need.

After 1 year parts are still holding up as well as the original ones.

by:

Haven't driven with this product yet. But seems like it will be a huge upgrade in ride quality. Tip: when installing, don't tighten any nuts/bolts on the u bolts or springs until you have everything assembled first. Assemble the cushioned equalizer LAST. One side took me 3 hours. The next 30 minutes.

Besides the obvious design differences there isn't much difference in how the E-Z Flex and Equa-Flex # LC279687 work or how well each one works. If I had to quantify it I would say that the Equa-Flex would stiffen things up a little more compared to the E-Z Flex. In general the E-Z Flex takes up less space so if there is anything in the general area that may get interfered with then the E-Z Flex is the better option.
