Updated 03/12/2026 | Published 03/04/2026

Question:

Ive got a 1949 trailer style 4.80x 4 hub with single bolt mount onto X Axle no brake assembly and would like to replace the inner tube with side mount valve and tire. Needs to be rated higher than lawn care as its for street use. I can send photo if needed. Can you help? Thanks

Hey Steve, thanks for the information. We've got a couple of 4.80/4.00 tires that fit a 4 on 4 lug nut pattern. They're tubeless and come with an installed valve stem. They're load range C and have a 745 lbs capacity each. The only difference in the two is that one has a galvanized wheel and the other has a powder coated white wheel. I have listed them below:

8" White Wheel - Kenda 4.80/4.00-8 Bias Trailer Tire item # AM30040

8" Galvanized Wheel - Kenda 4.80/4.00-8 Bias Trailer Tire item # AM30050

How heavy is your trailer?

I purchased 2 of them when I was rebuilding the trailer for my wave runner. The weight limit, size and materials, all worked for my needs. I had the trailer out and loaded that afternoon on the highway. 2 Kenda 4.80/4.00-8 Tire W/8" White Wheel - 4on4 - Lr C 2 0 1 Submersible Under 80" Light Kit W/25' Harness Stud Mount 1 0 Best of luck with your search and purchase. Thanks Jerred for the prompt reply. Sorry, I did not describe my needs clearly. The wheel from 1949 is similar to a wheelbarrow set-up. There's no hub or brake, just an axle that goes through and is bolted on each end. It's from a rare motorscooter with a Briggs & Stratton motor so it needs to be rated for 50 mph. Not certain it could go any faster and given it's design you'd have to be a bit crazy to go that fast (no front brake nor suspension!). The 4.80 x 8 inner tube needs a side valve stem and the rim was designed well before tubeless technology. I could send a photo but unable to attach through this message system. Steve

@Steve You're welcome! I get what you're saying now. We don't carry wheels like that.

@JerredH Jerred, Thanks again for the prompt reply. Given the rarity of the scooter, i wouldn't want alter it's authenticity with and aftermarket wheel. I do wish to replace the inner tube as previously described as well as the 4.80 x 8 highway rated tire. Surely that ask should be within your inventory. Steve

@Steve You're welcome! I completely agree. We do have the load range C Bias Tire item # AM10004 available separately without the rim.
