Kenda vs Westlake ST235/75R15 Trailer Tires for a Geo Pro G19FD

Updated 06/04/2026 | Published 05/26/2026

Question:

I am looking to purchase a set of 235/75-15 trailer tires. I have Westlakes load range C on my trailer now 2019 GeoPro G19FD date code of 2018 they still look new but 8 year old tires are asking for trouble on a single axel trailer. Are the Westlake tires really worth $100 per tire more than Kenda? I’m not strictly a price shopper. I want safety and quality first. I don’t mind saving money if I can though.

Kevin, I think you are absolutely making the right call replacing those tires. Even though they still look great on the outside, eight year old trailer tires are getting into the age range where internal deterioration becomes a bigger concern than tread wear, especially on a single axle trailer where there is no second axle to help carry the load if a tire fails.

When comparing the Kenda part # KE68JR and the Westlake part # WST54FR, the performance differences are actually pretty small. The Kenda is rated for 2,860 lbs per tire at 65 psi, while the Westlake is rated for 2,910 lbs per tire at 65 psi. In real world use on your Geo Pro, I do not think that extra 50 lbs of capacity per tire is enough to justify spending an additional $100 per tire.

Personally, I would feel completely comfortable with the Kendas. They have a strong reputation in the trailer tire world, carry a 99 mph speed rating, and come with a 5 year limited warranty along with a 1 year worry free guarantee. They are a quality tire and, in my opinion, offer a better overall value for your application. If safety and reliability are your priorities, I think the Kendas check those boxes without paying a premium that may not provide a meaningful benefit on your trailer.

The biggest safety upgrade here is replacing those 2018 date code tires before age catches up with them. Trailer tires can look nearly new on the outside while the internal structure is breaking down, and that is exactly the kind of situation that can lead to a roadside blowout.

Where do you take your G19FD most often, long highway trips or off road?

Kenda. Great tires. Not made in China.

I recently replaced my 6 year old Westlake tires with the Kenda equivalent on my R-Pod 192. We just completed a cross country trip with no issues or concerns.

@Beau Wow, a cross-country trip? That's about as good a tire test as you can ask for! Now you've got me curious, where did your cross-country adventure take you? An R-Pod 192 seems like the perfect companion for a trip like that. Thanks for sharing your experience, and here's to many more trouble-free miles ahead!

The Kenda tires are excellent I replaced my 7 year old Westlake tires with them. I have no regrets. I would buy them again when needed.

@BillM Thanks for sharing that, Bill! Replacing aging trailer tires can feel like a big investment, so it's always reassuring when the new set performs exactly as hoped. What kind of trailer are they on?

@HeatherA I have them on a 2019 Rockwood 2280-BHESP, and they work great.

@Billm I love it! Is that one of the pop up trailers? It looks super cool.

I purchased these Tires in early 2025 for my 2019 GeoPro G19FD. The Westlakes were showing signs of wear on the inside edges. The tread was lifting up, looked like the tires might have been separating. This was brought to my attention by a neighbor of mine who has a similar trailer, and this was also happening to his tires too. We both purchased the Kendra tires and I am quite pleased. Not only do they look great, after pulling them a few 1000 miles they are showing no signs of wear. I would purchase them again if these tires start to show signs of wear. You don't want to take a chance with old tires on a single axel trailer!

@Glenn I'm glad to hear the Kenda tires have worked out so well for you and your Geo Pro. It's especially encouraging to hear that after a few thousand miles they're still wearing evenly and giving you confidence on the road. Catching tire issues before they become a bigger problem is always a good thing, and it sounds like switching to the Kendas gave you some added peace of mind. We really appreciate you taking the time to come back and share your long-term results. Safe travels, and here's hoping you get many more miles out of them!

Hey Kevin Tires are well worth it,cheaper and better, love the off road tread and able to keel the same height, for good clearance, would highly recommend them. Dave A

@David Keeping the same overall tire height while gaining a more aggressive tread pattern is definitely a nice benefit, I appreciate you taking the time to leave your feedback, and I know it will be helpful for others trying to decide between the different tire options.
