How to Determine Replacement 6,000 lb Leaf Springs For Arctic Wolf 5th Wheel Trailer

Updated 10/28/2024 | Published 10/08/2024

Question:

Hi, I have 2024 Arctic Wolf 3660 Suite. After 9 month of owning and traveling. I believe my leaf springs are flat and I would like to replace them. The side of my RV says its 6000 lb Axles. Which springs would be appropriate for my model. I currently have 4-leaf springs. Do I need to measure them, and how accurate would measurement would be to their original state if they already went flat? Also, if I opt in for an upgrade, can I install 7k lb springs on my axles hence increase the load capacity? And if you could please list a full overhaul items if I wanted to update all components in my suspension, ie u bolts shackles upgrade springs or current springs but new condition etc. Thank you, Bek

Hey Bekzod,

So while we don't have a way of knowing the exact leaf springs for your Arctic Wolf 5th wheel trailer, I can help you determine the correct replacements. You do have to take a measurement, though it's pretty easy, as all you need to do is measure your current leaf springs from center-to-center of the spring eyes.

Regarding the accuracy, since the springs flatten a bit over time, you should go with ones that measure a bit shorter than what you currently have. For example, if your leaf springs measured 26-1/8" go with the 26" long 6-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles # e94SR.

You can also go to 7,000 lb leaf springs if you like, and I have added a link below to our selection of 6k and 7k springs which you can filter through by length. Then for the upgraded suspension parts, that just depends on the length of your shackle straps, which you'd measure from center to center of their holes:

- MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 2-1/4" Long Shackle Straps # MR46ZR

- MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 3-1/8" Long Shackle Straps # MR76ZR

Thank you for your response Kyle. When you say go a bit shorter from current measurement and gave an example of going from 25-7/8" to 26", doesn't it mean go longer? If it is go shorter shouldn't I go to 25-1/4"' or something? I measured mine and 3 of them came out to 25-7/8" and one is close to 25-6/8". Also I currently have EQ E1 equalizer and will MORryde CRE3000 a fitting replacement for that? Thank you, Bek

@Bekzod Yep, you're right, I mistyped (and since edited) and you're 100% correct. So because you were at 25-7/8" you can go to the 25-3/8" long 5-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 6,000-lb Trailer Axles # DX65CR. And yes, you can replace your equalizers with the MORryde CRE3000 # MR27ZR.

@KyleS I would order 25-3/8" springs but they take long to ship. Might 25-1/4" springs work as well? Or is there some modifications needed? The difference seems to be very small 0.125 inch. But the shipping speed is vastly different. Thank you, Bek

@Bekzod Yes, you can go with the 25-1/4" # e34SR, but make sure you also go with the CRE3000 # MR27ZR. The CRE3000 is actually 1/4" longer than your current equalizer, and the added length makes up that difference.

Hi Kyle, I have purchased all the items we discussed. I was wandering if you know or if there is information somewhere as to how tight I need to tighten the bolts. What torque should I tighten each bolt to? best, Bek

@Bekzod Are you referring to the Suspension Upgrade # MR46ZR? If so, per the directions the 7/16-20 nuts should be torqued with an 11/16" socket to 40 ft-lbs. If you were referring to the U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-9, that would be 65-95 ft lbs.
