Looking for information on equipping a 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland for flat towing including auxiliary braking and light wiring.

I recommend installing the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-521440-5 for flat towing your 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. I prefer Roadmaster's components as their quality has shown to be better over time. You can connect this with the Roadmaster Nighthawk All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-676. You will need to measure the height of the receiver on your tow vehicle to determine if you will need one of the High/Low adapters. When we installed the base plate on a vehicle in our shop we measured the height to the center of the connections to be 19-3/4". You want the tow bars to be within 3" of level so you may need one of the following adapters.

4" Rise/Drop # RM-048-4
6" Rise/Drop # RM-048-6
8" Rise/Drop # RM-048-8
10-1/4" Rise/Drop # RM-048-10

The Roadmaster Accessory Kit # RM-9284-2 contains the wiring you will need to connect the tail lights. If your Jeep has the park sense option you will need to replace the included diodes with the Smart Diodes # RO54FR. The Charge Line Kit # RM-156-25 will ensure the supplemental braking system does not drain the battery on your Jeep.

The Demco Air Force One Supplemental Braking System # DM26VR for tow vehicles with air brakes and the Demco Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR for tow vehicles with hydraulic brakes are our best braking systems. These get installed under your hood and dash so there is no units to remove like the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR.
