The Air Force One uses the same air pressure from your RV’s brake lines to apply the towed vehicle’s brakes at the exact same time and intensity. That means when you stop smoothly, so does your towed vehicle—no delay, no jerky motion, no over-braking. The system reactivates the vehicle’s vacuum-assist braking so that every stop feels natural and even, reducing wear on both vehicles. For long mountain grades or sudden stops, it’s consistent, balanced braking that just works.

This system is built for those who don’t want to haul a portable box or fuss with setup every trip. Installed once, the components stay tucked away under the hood and chassis, completely out of the cabin and out of sight. Just connect the coiled air hose and plug in the cord, and the system automatically powers up. You’ll have a clean interior, no interference with normal driving, and quick hook-ups that save time even in bad weather.

The included Coachlink monitor mounts in your RV and keeps you informed in real time. Bright LEDs and an audible alert tell you exactly when the towed vehicle’s brake pedal is actually being pressed—not just when the system thinks it should be. The transmitter connects to a reed switch on the brake, so you can trust that the signal is accurate. With a half-mile wireless range, you’ll always know your braking system is doing its job.

If the worst happens and the towed vehicle separates, the Air Force One’s breakaway switch triggers an emergency stop using its own onboard air supply. That reserve air instantly applies the brakes to bring the vehicle to a controlled halt while sealing off the RV’s air system so your coach brakes remain fully functional. It’s a safeguard that meets FMVSS safety guidelines—protection you’ll hope to never need but will be glad is there.

This system meets Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard requirements and includes all key components—breakaway switch, coiled 7-foot air hose, and fittings for a complete setup. The pressure protection valve and dedicated air reservoir ensure the RV’s brake performance is unaffected. With its proportional operation, wireless insight, and durable build, the Air Force One delivers the kind of reliability that seasoned RVers describe simply as “it just always works.”

Flat towing can be a much more convenient way to take your car RVing with you than using a trailer or a tow dolly. It'll save you storage space both at home and at the campsite, and it takes less time and hassle to hook up.
To flat tow your vehicle, there are 5 basic components you're going to need: a tow bar, a base plate kit, a safety cable set, tow bar wiring, and a flat tow braking system.
| For the RV | Between the RV and Towed Car | For the Towed Car |
|---|---|---|
| Hitch | Tow bar | Base plate |
| Wiring plug | Safety cables | Braking system |
| Wiring adapter cord | Wiring kit/diodes |
The custom-fit base plate installs on the frame of your toad so you can connect the car to your RV with a tow bar. Hook up safety cables between the vehicles to ensure that the toad does not separate from the motorhome if the tow bar becomes detached. Tow bar wiring syncs your vehicle's signal lights with your motorhome's tail lights, as required by law in most states. Finally, the flat tow braking system - also required in most states - activates the brakes in the toad when you hit the brakes in the RV, making for smoother, safer braking, and preventing wear on your motorhome.

Air Force One braking system is the best brake system! Installation instructions were well written that anyone that’s mechanically inclined is able to install the system properly.
We’ve used the AF1 braking system for over a year. Flat towing nearly 20,000 miles and dozens of connects and disconnects pulling a Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Connection is simple. The proportional Brake function is reliable and consistent. Glad we went this route.
Clear directions. That said, I watched etrailer videos multiple times until I was sure of what to do. My install was on a 2020 Ford Ranger and I removed the drivers seat to give me enough room as I am a large guy, old, fat and not very limber. I also removed the front bumper along with the plastic panel under the hood, mounting the unit in front of the battery. I did this in stages. One day I mounted the unit under the hood and hooked up everything in front (think air connection and breakaway switch) and the next day I did everything inside the cab of the truck. I cannot get under my RV as it is either too low, I am too fat or maybe a combination of both. I have no way to raise it. I am getting a place that works on buses and RVs to do that work for me.
Makes hooking up the tow vehicle braking system very easy. In addition the system can be tested by depressing the rig’s break and observing the toad’s pedal.
Purchased everything I needed to tow a 2018 Z71 Silverado. From th Democrats Air Force air brake kit works great. Also got the kit for the motor home the
Night Hawk tow bar “which is easy to hook and unhook” the air break system for the truck, cut off switch, breakaway switch and light kit. Etrailer instructions was easy to follow I install everything myself couldn’t be more happy with my purchase.
Excellent product information on their website. Shipping was extremely fast, and product was well packaged.
This kit is absolutely complete.
As always. It is a pleasure to do business with etrailer.com

This braking system has worked flawlessly. No fuss startup. Plug in airline, snap on breakaway cable, and your good to go. Did 8000 miles without any issues.
Amy? Was very helpful. Delivery was exceptionaly fast.
Installed the AF1with Coachlink on my 2020 Ford Escape Hybrid and Winnebago Forza 34T. Couldn’t be happier & works like a charm. The included install instructions were accurate and complete.
Right now I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 because we are in the process of installing it and because the pre-shipping part is really slow. Once it was gathered the product shipped really quickly so I can't blame the shipping company for the slow ship. However once we got the box everything was there and the instructions were there, as well as the videos. So far it is going toghether really nicely and everything works well. It isn't that difficult, however my husband is installing it and had his own mechanic's shop in the past and knows a great deal about that kind of work. It might be difficult for a "newby", however as long as you follow the instructions you are good to go. We are satisified and would purchase this again.

We installed it on our 2021 Jeep Gladiator. Looks good. We are happy campers.
Performs as designed
I have constant problems with the brake control in my tow vehicle.
There needs to be more packaging from the manufacture so this product can be shipped. The air tank moves around in the box so much that it damaged the control box paint. When you have a new vehicle, you like to look new.
Great response and information
Awesome system and very easy to install.
I got the delivery today hopefully everything can get installed soon
It worked flawlessly after getting it properly installed.
Great product! Install was much easier than I had anticipated and Demco has some great videos available of actual installs.
The Air Force One Braking system just arrived. I opened the box and looked it all over. No damage to anything thanks to good packing. A friend of mine has this same braking system and he loves it. Can't give a product review because it's not installed yet but I can honestly say Dianna A in customer service helped me get my order correct.

My Air Force One braking system works great on my 2018 GMC Canyon. It took me about 6 or 7 hours to install. I also installed the Roadmaster battery disconnect. Ive had no problems with it at all. Ive put several thousand miles on and I love it.

Received a product with a defective reed switch that prevented function of the system. etrailer was unwilling to replace this item, claiming that Demco had to correct under warranty. An email was sent to Demco Support, but there has been no response after two weeks. Eventually, I had to order another $[XX] read switch plus shipping on this $[XX]+ unit for proper operation. The lack of concern on this pricey product is concerning from both Dimco and etrailer.
Medium to Hard to install. Love how it works and would definitely buy again for a flat tow with air brakes.
Fantastic supplemental braking system. Wish I'd have done it sooner. The install was straight forward. I wanted the Air Force One system for a couple years and finally decided to go for it, so glad I did. It's much better now, I have no worries as I travel. It's completely proportional. I would buy it again and may vary well do that for another vehicle.
Overall a great system, there are some intricacies to the install as it pertains to old instructions with LED light in the TOAD vs. CoachLink Wireless and also the 3 wire reed switch vs. the newer 2 wire one. But using the provided written instructions along with YouTube videos you can figure it out. My other challenge was my Jeep is a 392 model and thus the battery and fuse box are in swapped locations, as well as a different VAC line layout, but again you can figure it out…just takes some time to study and trace the routing. My only real complaint was ordering, I was quoted the wrong system for my RV (Stay and Play) vs. AF1 since I DO have air brakes. etrailer was helpful in getting the return process but wants to charge me the shipping and possibly restock fee, I am working with them on this and hope to get a good resolution.

The AF1 system has been great, only one instance where the micro switch on the brake pedal got out of alignment a hair and was showing my brakes on when then were not! My other frustration is the Demco Tow bar vertical pivot, even though I torque the bolts to spec it always moves. Starting out level it always moves. I have replaced the washers, torqued a few lbs more, and it still moves! Contacting Demco for help as this is not safe or acceptable!
Just finished installation of the AF1 system. Etrailer was efficient as usual in their order process. However, I had expected to receive what Demco calls the "new tank" as shown in the product listing but instead received the R12 tank". The R12 tank is twice the size of the "new tank" because of the relay valve mounted on the bottom of the tank. This made installation of the tank underneath the motorhome, close to the rear relay valve, impossible. This turned the coach side of the install into a 2 day effort instead of a half day effort. Demco/etrailer should be offering the kits with the R12 tank at a significant discount while giving the customer the option to pay full price for kits with the new smaller tank.
I have tried other systems and they all fail miserably. I only use the Demco Air Force One
Installation of the Air Force One braking system in my DP went very smooth and was easy to do. I just followed the instructions and it presented no unforeseen challenges. The system works as it should and has been a good investment.

After my first full year using the braking system, it has worked perfectly. No issues at all.

I’m very satisfied with it. Unlike Brake Buddy you can see it’s working without it moving.
