Hello. I’m looking for recommendations on a complete flat towing system to use with a 2026 Jayco Greyhawk 29mv towing a 2026 Ford Maverick Hybrid. It needs to be one that is easiest to use and as seamless as possible while still the safest. I also need recommendations on where it can be installed near Columbia SC. Your expertise and advice will be most appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Wilfredo, absolutely! If you want the easiest and most seamless setup, this is the combination I would go with for your 2026 Jayco Greyhawk and 2026 Ford Maverick Hybrid.

I would start with the Roadmaster Direct Connect Base Plate Kit, part # RM87NQ. I really like Roadmaster for flat towing because they make quality, easy to use equipment, and the removable arms are a nice touch since you can take them off when you are not towing and keep the front of your Maverick looking clean.

I would pair that with the etrailer SD Non Binding Tow Bar, part # e74ZR. Honestly, I think this is where you will really appreciate the easier setup. The non binding levers make disconnecting the Maverick much easier, even if you are parked on uneven ground and there is pressure on the tow bar. No fighting with the arms at the end of a long travel day. It also has the safety cables built right in, which keeps things simple.

For your lighting, I would use the Roadmaster 4 Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-15267. This gives you a permanent wiring setup, so you are not messing with removable lights every time you want to tow.

For the braking system, I would go with the Demco Stay IN Play DUO, part # SM99251, along with the Demco Inline Air Pressure Regulator, part # DM88UV. The installation is a little more involved upfront, but once it is installed, it is basically a set it and forget it setup. I really like that you will not have to wrestle a portable brake box in and out of your Maverick every time you want to tow it. The regulator is important for the Maverick Hybrid because of its braking system that stays active even when you are in neutral.

The Maverick's battery is also known for dying while flat towing. I would add the Roadmaster charge line kits, part # RM-156-25 for the Maverick and part # RM-156-75 for the motorhome. This will keep power going to the Maverick's battery while you are towing, which is something I would definitely want on this setup.

Thank you for your response. What about the Roadmaster nighthawk tow bar? Between that one and the one you called out, what’s the difference? Also I will like to get a tow bar cover to protect it when stowed and something to protect the Maverick front end from road hazards and things. My zip code is 29229. @WilfredoM You’re very welcome, Wilfredo! Between the two, the etrailer SD is the more practical and budget friendly option, while the Roadmaster Nighthawk is the premium choice. The etrailer SD already has integrated safety cables, nonbinding levers for easier disconnecting, and built in rise and drop adjustment to help keep your setup level which is unique to that tow bar. The Roadmaster Nighthawk part # RM-676 is kind of the Rolls Royce of tow bars. It has built in LED lights, which are really handy when hooking up after dark, longer arms for maneuvering, and nonbinding arms so you are not fighting with the tow bar when you get to your destination. If your goal is the easiest and nicest setup possible, I would personally go with the Nighthawk. For the Nighthawk, I would also add the Roadmaster Tow Bar Cover, part # RM-055-3, to help protect it while it is stored on the back of your motorhome. I can also help you pick out a front end protection option for the Maverick to help protect it from road debris while you are towing. As far as keeping the tow bar level, you may need a high low adapter depending on the height of the motorhome and Maverick. You can let the installer handle that, or you can take a couple of measurements and send them to me before ordering. Measure from the ground to the top inside edge of your RV's receiver opening, then measure from the ground to the center of the Maverick's base plate tabs. If the RV receiver is higher, the difference tells us how much drop you need. If the Maverick tabs are higher, the difference tells us how much rise you need. Send me those measurements and I can help make sure you order the right adapter, if you need one. As for the installer near your zip code of 29229, I would recommend contacting RV Tech Pro at 3031 Congaree Road in Gadsden, South Carolina. They are on our approved installer list and are about 22 miles from you. They may not be the only option nearby, but they would be a good place to start.

@HeatherA awesome. I like the etrailer tow bar better after seeing the videos and the price compared to the nighthawk. I think I will go with that one. Can you tell the tow bar cover for it and the towed vehicle protection option? Once I get all that listed I will be ordering soon. I am in the process of buying the Maverick and getting the motorhome delivered soon. Thank you!

@Wilfredo Yes of course, the etrailer tow bar cover part # e76FV is what you will need for the etrailer tow bar. The Roadmaster Guardian XL Rock Shield for Direct-Connect Baseplates part # RM82DQ is your best bet to protect the tow vehicle. You could also go with the Rock Shield and the tow defender combo which blocks rocks from flying up and hitting the back of the motorhome as well with part # RM38GR.
